As we get set for an epic World Heavyweight in just a couple days, the full card for Japan Wrestling Federation Presents: NEW YEAR SUPERCARD has been announced:

Sources seem to indicate the World Champ’s next stop will be out west, though that’s likely not going to be confirmed until after the show. In the meantime, lets take a look at what’s been happening around the country in the various territories of the National Pro Wrestling Alliance...

Recap:
The Horseman continue to wreak havoc in the ACW territory. A loaded knee pad left the Briscos on the wrong end of a screw job finish for the second straight month, while Magnum TA failed to take the Atlantic title from Ric Flair, and was jumped in the ring by Tully Blanchard after the match for good measure. Harley Race earning a win seems to set up a big showdown with Flair for next month.

Southern Heavyweight Championship: Ted DiBiase (0) defeats Steve Williams (3) via LOADED GLOVE in 14 min ★

Recap:
The big story in Mid South this month was the introduction of the Southern Heavyweight Championship, and Ted Dibiase defeating Doctor Death Steve Williams for the inaugural belt. He had a little help from a loaded glove to do it though... and with JYD still out recovering from injuries it would seem the territory is all Dibiase at the moment. Paul Orndorff and Bob Roop's rivalry continues with Roop dominating in the rematch from Road to Gold Stop 4, while the Midnight Express continue to run through the division- as rumors continue that a world tag title tournament is forthcoming...

Nick Bockwinkel & Larry Zbyszko w/Bobby Heenan vs Verne Gagne & Harley Race was ruled a DRAW due to double DQ when both teams started brawling and didnt answer the referee count ★

Recap:
The Bruiser and Sgt Slaughter kicked off a heated rivalry, with Slaughter picking up the first win via DQ. Meanwhile Curt Hennig looked incredibly impressive, and Bockwinkel and Verne Gagne's rivalry continues, with a tag team match that included a guest appearance from Harley race ended in a double DQ.

Recap:
The NWF was highlighted by a mini tournament that would determine who would face off in the main event next month to crown the inaugural Northeast Champion. The main event, Hogan vs Savage, delivered an all time classic- with Randy Savage kicking out of a Leg Drop and hitting Hogan with two elbow drops and a running knee to the back before dramatically punching his ticket to the finals- where a showdown with Bruno Sammartino awaits.

Recap:
The feud between the Von Erichs and the Funks continues to end in bloodshed as the main event abruptly ended with both Funks nailing everyone with lead pipes. Fritz confirmed after the show a cage match would main event next month’s show. Meanwhile the Spoiler continues to impress and the rivalry between the Mulligan’s and the Freebirds rages on.

Recap:
With the heavily rumored news that the World Champion would be coming through the west coast next month, WCPW ran a big Cow Palace show featuring a huge 20 man royal rumble with Rocky Johnson coming out on top- shocking a field that included special guests Greg Valentine and none other than Andre the Giant. Roy Shire also announced a tag team tournament that would start next month and crown the territories first champion. But the big story was the main event, where Freddie Blassie defeated Roddy Piper for the likely next shot at the World Champion.

Dynamite Kid vs Tiger Mask
A shocking opener that saw some early back and forth before Dynamite Kid saw an opening and hit Tiger Mask with back to back headbutts to secure a dominant victory.

Rikidozan vs Big Van Vader
Vader took control early in this one, and a Vader Bomb 3 minutes into the match made it look like we may just see a night filled with surprising squash matches. But Rikidozan survived the flurry and methodically chopped down the big man (literally) before putting him away for good with an overhead chop that knocked the foreigner clean out.

An epic main event, with the champ looking dominate but being utterly unable to put away the challenger. After multiple failed attempts, Bockwinkel finally put away Inoki with a figure four when the ref called a stop to the match when Inoki seemed to pass out from refusing to give up.

The NPWA returns to action this month with full coverage of WEST COAST PRO WRESTLING! The world champion Nick Bockwinkel will be making his return to his home state to defend his title, plus Roy Shire has announced a tag team tournament to crown the first West Coast Tag Team Champions! West Coast Wrestling Presents #1
The Cow Palace in Daly City, CA

The show opens with the ring announcer recapping the teams involved in the tag tournament, announcing future shows in Oregon and southern California. The main event for tonight would determine who would get a shot at the World title at the LA Forum. Speaking of the World title, it also announced that we would be hearing later from none other than the world champion, NICK BOCKWINKEL!


Bobo Brazil (0) defeats Rocky Kernodle (4) via COCO BUTT in 17 min. ★★
A much more competitive match than expected, with Rocky putting up a good fight against the much larger Brazil. In the end, it took 4 Coco Butts before Bobo could finally take down the visiting Kernodle.

Blonde Bombers defeat Dutch Savage & The Grappler via BOMBS AWAY KNEESDROP in 11 min. ★
Patterson (0) Stevens (0); Grappler (1) Savage (0)
Kicking off the tournament, there was lots of back and forth but the Bombers were never in any real trouble. Eventually, Patterson found the opening needed to hit the top rope Bombs Away and secure the win.


After the match, World Champion Nick Bockwinkel came out with manager Bobby Heenan and shook hands with both Patterson and Stevens. Heenan cut a promo to the crowd stating that the champ only associated with winners, and the Bombers were the type of winners that he could call FAMILY. All four men shook hands as the crowd loudly rained down boos.


The Valentines defeat Rose & Somers via throat drop on ropes in 6 min. SQUASH

Special guests Greg and Johnny Valentine made their West Coast Wrestling debut, looking strong right out the gate. The Valentines blitzed Somers early, and he never recovered. This one was over before it really ever began...

MAIN EVENT: Rocky Johnson (3) defeats Freddie Blassie (5) via backbreaker in 21 min. ★★★★
A stunning upset as last month's battle royal winner took it too Blassie, nailing him with a series of drop kicks before sinking in a Boston crab that Blassie barely got out of, before finishing him off with the backbreaker.


After the match, the celebration was short lived as Blassie attacked Johnson, before the Bombers and Bockwinkel (with Heenan) came down to gang up on the challenger. Finally Pepper Gomez, Roddy Piper, and the Pedro Morales ran out to make the save...


As the crowd started filing out, the card for next week in PORTLAND OREGON was announced...

The show kicks off with the ring announcer listing out the matches, with a main event featuring two fan favorites, Pedro Morales and Roddy Piper!


Flying Redheads defeated The British Bulldogs via ATOMIC DROP in 18 min ★★
Billy (0) Red (3); Davey (1) Dynamite (3)
The True North Wrestling visitors put the Flying Red Heads on their heels early on, but the wily vets stayed poised and eventually found an opening- nailing Dynamite Kid with the Atomic Drop for the win.

Tolos Brothers defeat Mr. Fuji & Mr. Saito via Brutal Double Clothesline in 33 min ★★
John (0) Chris (2); Fuji (4) Saito (3)
A long technical match that saw lots of holds and reversals ended when the Tolos hit a brutal double team clothesline that knocked Mr Saito out cold.


Rocky Johnson heads to the ring to be interviewed. Rocky states its an honor to challenge for the world title, and he thinks he has what it takes to beat Nick Bockwinkel for the belt. He finishes by saying if Bobby Heenan tries to get involved in the match, he will knock him silly…


Pepper Gomez (0) defeated Freddie Blassie (3) via MEXICAN CRADLE in 5 min ★
A shocking one sided match that saw Pepper Gomez out work Blassie, catching him continuously in rollup pins that he would barely get out of. Frustrated and off balance- Blassie never saw the Mexican Cradle coming and was easily rolled up for the quick win.

After the match Freddie Blassie went after Gomez, starting a wild brawl that needed security in order to separate both men...

Pedro Morales (0) defeated Roddy Piper (2) via Boston Crab in 8 min. ★
The match started with both men shaking hands and playing to the crowd... but things devolved from there. In another shocker of a match, Pedro Morales quickly caught Piper in the middle of the ring with a deep Boston Crab, forcing the local fan favorite to tap out.


After the match, Pedro offered a hand to Roddy Piper, but as the winner turned his back Roddy took a cheap shot on him, beating him down before grabbing a chair and brutally taking it to Morales knee. Finally, Pepper Gomez came from the back to make the save, but Freddie Blassie also came back out, providing numbers to the heels and ending the show with both Morales and Gomez laid out to the utter shock of the crowd.

The show opens with the ring announcer listing the match card, which includes the semi-finals of the tag team tournament, and announcing that next week- the world champion NICK BOCKWINKEL will be wrestling in the main event at the famous Olympic Auditorium- tickets on sale now!

Entertaining opener with some fun back and forth that saw Mr Fuji pick up the win.

The Flying Redheads defeat the Tolos Brothers via ATOMIC DROP in 25 min ★★★
John (5) Chris (1); Billy Red (5) Red (0)
A close and competitive match pitting two veteran teams that both took turns isolating a partner to try and work the advantage. In the end- in a bit of an upset- The Flying Redheads would earn a spot in the finals.


Pepper Gomez came out to the ring for an interview and announced that Roddy Piper's awful attack on Pedro Morales has left him needing surgery on his knee. Gomez called out both Piper and Freddie Blassie for their underhanded attack, and challenged them to a match at The Forum- revealing his partner to be... BOBO BRAZIL!


Buddy Rose (0) defeat Davey Boy Smith (1) via INSIDE BACKBREAKER in 11 min ★
Buddy Rose took charge early and never looked back, putting the British Bulldog on his heels and securing the win after back to back inside backbreakers.

Blonde Bombers defeat The Valentines via FOREIGN OBJECT in 31 min ★★
Johnny (6) Greg (1); Pat (1) Ray (1)
Bobby Heenan came out with The Bombers, and he immediately had an impact on the match. Heenan kept the referee distracted throughout the contest, and ended up providing what looked like a brass knuckles to Pat Patterson- who nailed Greg Valentine and pinned him- securing the Bombers spot in the finals.

The Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA

The show opens with the announcement of tonight's matches, including a star studded trios main event featuring the World Champion, Nick Bockwinkel...


Greg Valentine (0) beat The Grappler (0) via FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK in 8 min ★
Grappler had the early edge but The Hammer was just biding his time to sink in the submission, which once he did, immediately ended the match.

Buddy Rose (0) beat Dutch Savage (0) via DQ when Dutch hit Buddy Rose with a lead pipe ★
Hard fought back and forth match but Dutch seemed to be getting more and more frustrated and it wore on. Eventually as the fight spilled out of the ring, Savage grabbed a metal pipe from under the ring and nailed Buddy Rose in the head with it.


Afterwards, with Rose bloodied and being attended to by doctors, Dutch grabbed a mic and declared a challenge for next weeks SUPERCARD- a Coal Miners match! Buddy Rose shoved off the doctors and accepted the match.


Bobo Brazil (3) beat Roddy Piper (2) via COCO BUTT in 11 min ★★★
Brazil took early advantage of his size difference, and seemed in control until Piper turned to dirty tactics by throw sand in the eyes of Bobo. The tactic almost worked., with Piper using the distraction to sink in a deep sleeper hold. But Bobo would survive and hit another Coco Butt for the win, setting up the big tag match at the SUPERCARD.

Nick Bockwinkel beat Billy Red Lyons via BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER in 4 min DUD
The main event saw the world champ shake off an early pounding from the challengers to sneak in a low blow then a deep sleeper hold on Chris Tolos. With the Bombers blocking off any save, Tolos went to sleep and the Heenan Family secured a shockingly quick victory heading into next week's SUPERCARD.

Around the Territories

With the West Coast SUPERCARD just days away, lets once again take a moment to jump around and get caught up on what’s been happening in the world of professional wrestling…

Atlantic Championship Wrestling
It was a rough night for the Horseman. In a shocking main event, Harley Race beat Ric Flair to claim the Atlantic belt in under 5 min. After the opening bell, Race immediately went for a rollup pin- as Flair popped out of it he stumbled right into a piledriver from the challenger, knocking him clean out. Likewise the Wrecking Crew dropped the tag belts to The Armstrongs in a fun back and forth match. The only slight consolation was Tully Blanchard avoiding a pin fall from Magnum TA when JJ Dillon knocked out the ref and forced the DQ.

Memphis Pro Wrestling
The Fargos debuted in Memphis this month and immediately challenged and won the tag titles in a fairly short match with the RnR Express. Jerry Lawler and Tommy Rich had their blowoff match inside a steel cage that reports say was very good, with Lawler picking up the win then immediately getting attacked by King Kong Bundy. Austin Idol retained his belt over Sputnik Monroe via a draw that will almost definitely be rematch-ed next month.

Mid South Championship Wrestling
Ted Dibiase successfully defended his Southern Heavyweight belt against Ernie Ladd, but it was again under questionable conditions as that gloved hand appeared to be once again loaded with something. Elsewhere on the card, Mid South awarded the Southern Tag Titles to the Midnight Express in a show stealer of a match against the Wild Samoans.

Northeast Wrestling Federation
The NWF crowned their own heavyweight champion when Bruno Sammartino defeated Randy Savage in an instant classic 5 star match. Hulk Hogan shook off a few disappointing losses to beat Ivan Koloff in what looks like the start of a feud, and Bob Backland ruined Big John Studd's debut with an impressive win. Rumors are swirling that we may see the World Champ next month in the NWF...

Texas Outlaw Pro Wrestling
The Von Erich's seemed to blow off their months long rivalry with the Funks with a bloody cage match that saw them definitively beat the brothers. Also on the card, Barry Windham beat Terry Gordy in one of the best matches of the year while Black Bart debuted over Wild Bill Irwin.

Midwest Wrestling Alliance
The MWA crowned the North American Heavyweight Champion when Dick the Bruiser put on a thrilling comeback and beat Sgt Slaughter. Elsewhere on the card the visiting Moondogs became the first team to beat the Road Warriors and Verne Gagne got a measure of revenge on the Heenan Family when he beat Larry Zbyszko... only to be brutally attacked after the match by THE IRON SHIEK!

Japan Wrestling Federation
The JWF had a show filled with debuts, as we saw first action from Kawada, Misawa, and Kobashi in a very entertaining tag match. Also on the show, Stan Hansen drilled The Destroyer with a chair to abruptly end their match, Inoki shocked the crowd with a quick submission win over Vader, and in the main event Rikidozan beat Giant Baba in an excellent back and forth match.

West Coast Wrestling Presents: SUPERCARD IN THE FORUM
The Forum in Los Angeles, CA

A sold out Forum is buzzing as West Coast Pro Wrestling owner and NPWA commissioner Roy Shire heads to the ring to announce tonight's card, including the main event- a WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP match!


The Destroyer (1) defeated Mr. Saito (2) via back breaker in 7 min ★
Saito was on his heels the entire match against the masked man, who piled on the offense all match before ending things with a brutal back breaker.

Coal Miners Glove: Dutch Savage (0) defeated Buddy Rose (3) via RUNNING PILEDRIVER in 11 min ★★
Brutal match with both men left bleeding. Savage would take this one when he got a hold of the glove and blasted Rose in the head with it, then set him up for he piledriver to claim the win.

Blassie & Piper defeated Pepper & Bobo via surprise rollup with the tights in 8 min DUD
All (0)
Match was building into something potentially great, but out of nowhere Freddie Blassie used the tights to roll up Pepper Gomez. Bobo Brazil was unable to get in the ring for the save when Roddy Piper pulled him off the apron and started a brawl. This feels far from over...

Mil Mascaras (1) defeated John Tolos (2) via CROSS BODY ATTACK 29 min ★
Long technical back and forth match that saw both men try and wear out the other. As the 30 min time limit approached Mascaras picked things up and hit a Slingshot Plancha followed by a cross body attack for the win.

WEST COAST TAG TEAM TITLES: Blonde Bombers defeat The Flying Redheads via BOMBS AWAY KNEEDROP in 12 min ★
Billy (4) Red (0); Pat (0) Ray (0)
This one was never in question, with Patterson and Stevens in control the entire match, nailing the Bombs Away to become the first West Coast Tag Champions. After the match the two men celebrated in the ring with the belts as Bobby Heenan did a victory lap around the ring

MAIN EVENT WORLD TITLE MATCH: Nick Bockwinkel (1) defeated Rocky Johnson (4) via surprise rollup pin in 25 min ★★★
The champ dominated early before Rocky made a big comeback and appeared to have the upset win except Bobby Heenan distracted the referee. Then, with everyone distracted, Bockwinkel jumped in for the surprise rollup- with Heenan knocking Rocky's hand off the rope to secure another title defense.

After the match, the Blonde Bombers came out and the trio of champs celebrated to a shower of boos as the show ended...
