Great match between Bob Backlund and The Destroyer and the masked man finds a way to regain the title. It will be interesting to see how he fares in this next go around as the champion.

Card 029 – Kingston Centre, Kingston
Jim Londos v. Rock Riddle Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Riddle counters and takes control with a flying elbow drop. Riddle traps Londos in a BOSTON CRAB. Londos makes the ropes but Riddle drags Londos into the middle of the ring and leans back with a second BOSTON CRAB. Londos cannot counter and an huge upset kicks the event off. Winner: Rock Riddle (snakes eyes!). DUD
Angelo & Lanny Poffo v. Vachons (Butcher & Mad Dog Vachon) Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The action was back and forth with all of the four competitors seeing action before Lanny Poffo slams Mad Dog Vachon off the corner and then nails a SKY DROP for the victory. Winners: Poffos *
“Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail v. David Taylor Referee: James Beard; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside; Vintage Charts Taylor really impressed with his mat skills in this encounter and dominated 90% of the action. Ismail tried to brawl but Taylor was ready and used a Dragon sleeper to slow things down and picked up the three count after a bear hug and atomic drop. Winner: David Taylor. * ½
Jerry Brisco & Billy Red Lyons v. Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dollar causes a commotion before the match sending Albano to the back before the match gets underway. Lyons is able to capitalize on the chaos and get the upper hand. The Valiant Brothers were able to regroup and a choke with the tag rope on Brisco turned the match. Brisco never was able to recover or make the tag from that point. The Valiants downed Brisco with a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE and Jimmy Valiant makes the three count while “Luscious” Johnny cuts off the pin save. Winners: Valiant Brothers * ½ Henry Irslinger v. The Spoiler Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Irslinger takes control of this one with his skills but Spoiler battles back. A rope-walk smash does damage and a double underhook suplex gets a two count. Irslinger manages to backdrop Spoiler to the floor and mounts a comeback of his own. Irslinger’s neck yoke is enough to get the submission in a sudden finish (Snake Eyes). Winner: Henry Irslinger. **
Glamour Girls (Leilani Kai & Judy Martin) v. Candi Divine & Rockin Robin Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The story in this one was the Glamour Girls cutting off Robin for a series of long stretches with Divine getting a series of hot tags to get her side back into the match. The finish came when Robin and Martin took the battle to the floor and Martin let her frustration boil over and she cracked Robin across the back with a chair shot to earn a disqualification. Winners: Candi Divine & Rockin Robin by disqualification. **
Falls Count Anywhere Match – Don Muraco w/Captain Lou Albano v. Barry Windham Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano The winner of this match gets a shot a the Canadian Heavyweight Title at Maple Leaf Gardens. Windham is on fire early on with forearms and dropkicks. Muraco bails and Windham follows. With the fans clearing a path, things get crazy. Muraco smashes Windham with a chair but Windham grabs a cane from a fans and smashes Muraco and then Albano with the weapon. The fight goes through the fans and Windham whips Muraco into the wall and then covers for the win. Winner: Barry Windham * ½
News and Views: • Barry Windham picked up a huge victory tonight in the main event and has earned himself a shot at the Canadian Heavyweight Title current held by the Destroyer as part of the Maple Leaf Garden event (Card 30). Muraco was visibly frustrated after the match particularly with Captain Lou Albano for allowing himself to be taken out during the action. • Jim Londos was quietly staying near the top of the contenders list until Rock Riddle picked up a stunning victory tonight over the popular competitor from Greece. We will have to see what impact the loss has on Londos’s quest for a shot at the Canadian Heavyweight Title. Londos has demanded an immediate rematch and the two will square off again at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens • The winner of the Canadian Heavyweight Title battle at Maple Leaf Gardens already knows who their first challenger will be as former champion has been given his return match for the title as part of the card at the London Gardens (Card 32). • The Killer Bees have been quite when it comes to who will be joining them in Toronto to take on the six man tag team of Shawn Daivari, Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon which has caused some to speculate that the match may actually be a handicap match! The Bees certainly would like to get their hands on Daviari but at what cost? • It was announced that the first Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka has departed the territory and will next appearing on the west coast.

Card 030 – Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, ON
Jim Londos v. Rock Riddle Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dollar has strict instructions for both men before the bell. Riddle once again has ability to frustrate Londos early and uses a figure four cobra sleeper control his popular opponent before tossing Londos the floor. Riddle obviously had nothing but disrespect for Dollar’s pre-match instructions when he clobbered Londos with a chair at ringside. Dollar quickly called for the bell and the disqualification. Londos was slow to regain his feet. Winner: Jim Londos by disqualification DUD
Jerry Brisco & Billy Red Lyons v. Vachons (Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon) Referee: Dick Woehrle The Vachons jump their opponents before Gary Michael Cappetta finishes his introductions. Lyons and Brisco are quick to come and then manage to cut off Mad Dog Vachon and take over the match with quick tags and double teaming. A double tackle from Lyons & Brisco appears to have the contest won but Butcher Vachon jumps into the action starting a wild brawl. It is dropkicks all around for the Vachons and the action carries on. Vachon finally catches a break and is able to avoid Lyons’ charge into the corner. Vachon rolls him up for a quick two and half count and then lands a Mad Dog Pounce to claim the three count in an incredible comeback. Winners: Vachons ****
Disco Inferno v. David Taylor Referee: James Beard This was a rematch from the Niagara Falls event where Inferno picked up a count-out victory over the UK competitor. Taylor seemed focused on revenge and uses a series of suplexes to punish Inferno. Taylor made a critical error when he attempted a deathjump and Inferno tossed him to the mat. Inferno was not able to keep the advantage for long and soon Taylor was punishing Inferno with a armbar and facelock. A gorilla press gutbuster set up a BRITISH SUPLEX for the three count. Winner: David Taylor. **
Killers Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) v. Shawn Daivari, Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon Referee: Morgan Dollar Daivari pre-match antics get huge heat but the upset soon turns to cheers as Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes to the ring to join the Bees are their partner! The energy is electric and Duggan thrills the fans with a running lariat against Daivair who quickly gives way to Butcher who attempts to bite Duggan. Duggan is rebounded into the ropes and catches a bent over Butcher with a piledriver that nearly kills the Madman from the Sudan. Brunzell is in but Butcher tags in Monsson who destroys Brzunell with a giant swing and then a backbreaker for the win out of nowhere. Winners: Shawn Daivari, Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsson **
Bob Backlund v. Don Muraco w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar Albano has words with the official before the bell and Dollar appears annoyed with the manager but allows him to stay at ringside. Backlund put on a showcase of mat excellence from the open bell and Muraco could get nothing going. Even a brief break on the floor went Backlund’s way when he noggin knocked Muraco and Albano together. Muraco was able to catch Backlund on the top of the corner and tossed Backlund to the mat. An Asiatic Spike did some damage but Backlund countered a rebound off the ropes with an inside cradle and claimed the victory! Winner: Bob Backlund **
Canadian Open Tag Team Title Match: Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) [ch] v. Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette Referee: Morgan Dollar Cornette & the challengers are all over the referee before the bell and Morgan Dollar appears shaken up. Morton and Gibson are on fire in opening moments and Stan Lane is their target. Lane would have been finished after a DOUBLE DROPKICK since Eaton’s pin save was blocked but the timely distraction of Cornette kept his team in the match. It was a significant event as Lane was eventually able to get the tag and the Midnights managed to cut off Morton from his corner. Morton kicked out after a FLAPJACK but a VEG-O-MATCI ended it when Gibson could not make the save. Winners and New Canadian Open Tag Team Champions: Midnight Express ***
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – The Destroyer [ch] v. Barry Windham Referee: Dick Woehrle Windham had the fans solidly behind him and he started quickly but Destroyer was able to lead the action to the floor and took over a slam on the concrete. In the ring, Destroyer punished Windham including a pair of Bombs Away and leg scissors. Windham battled back but each time the Champion had the counter to take back control of the match. Windham finally broke through when he caught Destroyer with a sleeper sapping a lot of the fight of the champion. Destroyer was on the receiving end of the punishment late but managed to kick out after a SWEETWATER SUPLEX. Windham continued to press the attack and a second SWEETWATER SUPLEX and a quick count from Woehrle gave Windham his first championship in the territory: Winner and New Canadian Heavyweight Champion: Barry Windham ***
Steel Cage Match – Henry Irslinger v. “The Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail Referee: Dick Woehrle; Vintage Charts It had been a couple of cards since these two competitor had squared off after a series of intense and violent encounters lead to this cage showdown. Fans expected Yusuf to have a distinct advantage in the cage environment but one side nature of the match was sickening to behold as Yusuf spend most of his attack working over the nose and eyes of his opponent rendering Irslinger a bloody mess. At one point, several fans asked for the match to be stopped but the beating continued. Irslinger looked about finished but managed to grab a toehold and held on long enough to finally stop the attack of his foe. Irslinger was spurred on by the fans as he sent Ismail into the cage wall busting him open. Yusuf managed to escape an ARMLOCK AND LEG TRIP. Yusuf had expanded all his energy late and Irslinger went move for move with his opponent but a rib crusher put Irslinger down for the last time. (Snake Eyes). Winner: Yusuf Ismail. ****
News and Views: • Barry Windham is your new Canadian Heavyweight Champion as the top prize in the territory changes hands for the third time in the last six cards! The new champion’s schedule is set as Windham will battle former Canadian Heavyweight Champion Bob Backlund at the upcoming event at the London Gardens (Card 32) and then whoever is champion after that match will face The Destroyer in his championship rematch at the next Maple Leaf Gardens event (Card 35) • The Midnight Express are now three time Canadian Open Tag Team Champions after their controversial victory over the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express tonight as the feud between these two teams continues. A return match has been booked for the event in Kitchener (Card 33) • Jim Londos was fired up when he returned to the dressing room after the first encounter tonight and demanded a rematch with Rock Riddle. Londos specifically requested the match be part of the upcoming Ringside taping so he can show all the fans at home what a coward Riddle was. Commissioner Teddy Long was happy to make the match but Riddle would only agree if the match was a no-disqualification encounter and Londos was happy to comply • Henry Irslinger and “The Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail left everything in the ring after their bloody blow off to their violence series of encounters. Ismail is now near the top of the contenders list will have to prove himself against other competitors. For his part, Irslinger will need to regroup and find a way to start collecting the winner’s purse • There are several competitors who have given their notice and will be departing the area including former co-holder of the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles, Butcher Vachon. His brother Mad Dog Vachon has announced his intention to stick around and announced his intention to become the first competitor hold both singles and tag team gold in the territory

Abdullah & Gorilla (w/ Daivari as their manager) continue to make monstrous waves... Would love to see them get a shot at the tag straps at some point.
There's been a lot of movement in the title scene, but Windham might be tough enough to put together a respectable reign as champion... A brilliant Maple Leaf double header!

I really enjoyed the recent shows and congrats to Barry Windham and the Midnight Express on their title wins. I was hoping for a good reign for The Destroyer but Windham had his number.
So many great moments on the last two shows but Rock Riddle over Jim Londos and the Henry Irslinger vs. Terrible Turk cage match were notable for me. Keep those dice rolling my friend.

Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar Dollar gets things off to a rocking start when he sends Albano to the back! “Handsome” Jimmy & “Luscious” Johnny look off their game early with Rodz and Hutchison taking advantage. Hutchison uses an Olympic Roll Up to get a near fall on Johnny Valiant. The Valiant Brothers get their act together and Hutchison is the victim. Hutchison and Jimmy Valiant crack skulls after a collision in the corner. Valiant is up first, tags out and Johnny Valiant uses a face slam to canvas to end it. Winners: Valiant Brothers. *
Shawn Daivari leads Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon give a heat filled interview with some views on the fans, America and Canada! Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon w/Shawn Daivari v. Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Del Wilkes Referee: Dick Woehrle The fans explode as Duggan leads up Wilkes for his first appearance in the territory. Wilkes shows no fear and goes right after Butcher and nearly ends it in the opening moments with a PATRIOT MISSLE. Duggan enters the battle with fists flying but Butcher uses a foreign object to bloody Duggan and the momentum turns. Butcher and Monsoon punish Duggan and then Wilkes. Butcher uses a foreign object on his masked opponent and also catches him with a karate thrust to throat. Wilkes kicks out after a SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER and the fans get behind Wilkes and he tags in Duggan. Duggan gets some blows in on Butcher but a tag to Monsoon changes the match again. Monsoon crushes Duggan with a Giant Swing to get the three count. Winners: Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon ***
Canadian Heavyweight Champion Barry Windham is interviewed by Gordon Solie and The Destroyer comes out and attacks the man who took the title from him. Both men brawl around the arena. The episode ends with Disco Inferno in the ring expecting a non-title match with the champion but leaving with no match at all.

Angelo Poffo & Lanny Poffo v. Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Moton & Robert Gibson) Referee: Dick Woehlre This was a fast paced back and forth battle from bell to bell. Lanny Poffo was a standout early controlling the action against Ricky Morton. The Poffos picked up a near fall after a back elbow smash on Morton from Angelo Poffo. The Express had the fans behind them and mounted a comeback. Gibson nearly submitted Angelo Poffo with a Gibson Leglock and a double team slingshot stomp did some damage to Angelo Poffo before Gibson connected with a back elbow smash to down Angelo Poffo for the win. Winners: Rock ‘n’ Roll Express: ** ½
The Destroyer v. David Taylor Referee: James Beard The fans are all over Destroyer and he jaws back at them which only increases the intensity. Taylor seems very focused and counters everything Destroyer tries. Taylor hits a falling double sledge and then traps Destroyer in a surfboard. Destroyer cannot make the ropes and cannot escape. Taylor gets a huge victory over a former Canadian Heavyweight Champion. Winner: David Taylor *

Texas Death Match - Jim Londos v. Rock Riddle Referee: Morgan Dollar Despite the rules, or lack thereof, Londos keeps things in ring and showcases his skills rather than his rage. Riddle is not so pure at heart and uses a low blow to stop Londos cold and get a three count. He cannot keep any advantage however and Londos gets the three count after a cross-arm thrust. Winner: Jim Londos *

Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) v. Nacho Barrera & George South Referee: Morgan Dollar South and Barrera have words with Dollar and the official actually appears shook up but it makes little difference as this one is over quickly with a KILLER DROPKICK to Barrera. Winner: Killer Bees DUD
Don Muraco & Captain Lou Albano stop in with Gordon Solie for a rant directed at the fans and locker room. “Cowboy” Scott Casey v. Don Muraco w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar Casey leads the fans in a Beach Bum chant and we are off to a ruckus start. Muraco and Caseu go back and forth. Muraco is forced to take a break on the floor after a reverse neckbreaker. Casey follows and it is a critical error. Muraco gets the upper hand and when the action gets back into the ring, Muraco traps Casey in an Asiatic Spike for the submission. Winner: Don Muraco *
Bob Backlund v. “The Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail Referee: Dick Woehrle; Vintage Charts Ismail catches Backlund with a quick toss out of the corner that puts Backlund down and then applies his STRANGLEHOLD. Woehrle checks the hold and rules it illegal calling for the disqualification when Ismail refuses to release the hold. Winner: Bob Backlund by disqualification. DUD
Yusuf Ismail grabs the mic from Gordon Solie and speaks his mind in Turkish. Although the fans do not understand what Ismail is saying they get the message… there is fired up madman on the loose in Maple Leaf Wrestling.
Dark Match : Canadian Heavyweight Champion Barry Windham & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) v. The Destroyer & Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/ Jim Cornette Referee: Morgan Dollar Dollar has strict instructions for both sides before the bell. The fans are ready for some incredible action but this one ends up being one sided as Stan Lane is forced to face all three of his opponents as Windham and the Express make quick tags before Windham traps Lane in a sleeper hold and that is enough for the win. Winners: Barry Windham & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. *
