Players would only lose out if some teams folded. Offhand I am not sure if any cities have teams in both leagues but if so, they could relocate one. I thought the XFL was using the same model as the NFL in regard to home and away games. Either way, I think that is how they need to go if they merge. As for losers in a merger it would be front office people for the leagues as some will get cut to avoid redundancies. The XFL used traditional home and away, yes, but all practices, practices, training, office personnel, meetings, etc for all teams were based in the Ft Worth Texas area. Teams would travel to their “home” cities only for the games. Hence the hub and spoke analogy. Ah, got it now. Thanks for the info. I obviously did not know that. In a way, that system makes sense. With the exception of maybe travel costs it can help save money. Good for a league just starting out.

Another United Football League, I wanted to like the USFL but them not really playing in the cities the teams represent was a turn off and the 3rd XFL was okay. I have always liked spring football, but they always fail and with my interest now in The IFL, I'm not sure how much I'll watch of this merged league...

It is going to be an 8 team league to start.
USFL conference
Birmingham Stallions: Skip Holtz
Houston Roughnecks: Curtis Johnson
Memphis Showboats: John DeFilippo
Michigan Panthers: Mike Nolan
XFL conference
Arlington Renegades: Bob Stoops
D.C. Defenders: Reggie Barlow
San Antonio Brahmas: Wade Phillips
St. Louis Battlehawks: Anthony Becht
I like they are making the league names the conferences and happy that Michigan is there. Wish we had a team here in FL but hopefully they add one to Tampa down the road.

You can't have a Spring football league without the St. Louis Battlehawks! Ka-Kaw is the law!
