Barry, Barry... BARRY!!! Your screen name is malicelover and you chose Guardian in the G-Cup?!? The one time Stryker qualified for the cup, he chose 2110 MALICE and made the final four. I find your lack of faith disturbing (best Darth Vader voice) and therefore must change your name since you clearly do NOT love Malice.  |

I had a blast at my first in person GCON. I drove down from Minnesota thursday morning right after a 10 hr overnight shift. Holy crap was I tired. After getting checked in met up with TK, Marcus, Zeke, Todd, the_faction, his wife, and Michael Bratta. We went to DAGS for dinner, then to the cubs game. We ended up leaving the game during the 7th inning to beat traffic. After getting back to the hotel I finally crashed for the night.
Friday morning was breakfast at Elly's. It was so good we went back Saturday and Sunday. We had the same waitress friday and saturday but a different one sunday. Joke with Marcus to flag down our waitress and flash her his knees, but alas he would not do it. After that we went to check out the giant bean, then to The Galloping Ghost Arcade. Damn that place was awesome. So many old games I remember and a bunch I didnt. After the arcade we went to Quake where I picked up the Mean Mark figure. Yes TK did say to me it was there but I was looking at other stuff and didnt hear him. My hearing is crap, I am old so sue me. After we got back to the hotel after dinner at Giordanos we went to the bar for a few to meet up people. I finally got to meet Lori Beck, it was a pleasure and as has already been said Pete you are a lucky man. After getting our hellos in we went out to the lobby to play a few matches before hitting the hay.
I walked into the con and of course I was imtimadated to be around everybody that has known and been to every con for years, but I finally settled in. I made it to the finals of the GWF tournament with Sentinel before losing to Sam. After that I just sat back and talked to a few people. The taco bar was decent, but wish it hadnt sat there until Sunday. After trying to eat downtown and not wanting to pay a million dollars to park we ended up at hooters. The wings were not the greatest but it is what it is.
For the Canada Cup on Sunday I drew Meteor and went 3-4 which is better than I thought I would do. Congrats to Troy for winning the Galacticup and the belt. I had fun catching up with TK, Marcus, Zeke, Todd, Pete, and Chad. It was awesome to finally meet KB, Rob, Michael B, Billy, Sam Luptak, Sam, Broc, Jeff Manning, Mike, Milton, Barry, Jim, Troy. I am sorry for not going around to everybody, I am a shy dude in person. After hanging out for a bit longer I finally headed for home. With any luck next year GCON will be in Waterloo, to coincide with the HOF, but either way I plan on making a return.

KB, it was about trying to go at it with people with multiple finishes and 3 add 1 moves. I too made it to the final four, and Malice was in my choices (2110), however I question whether I make it past Iron Hand. I honestly thought about continuing with Jack Brisco, dancing with the one who brung you. It was what it was. If I had it to do over I would have picked Harbinger and rolled the dice with that. |
