I'll be cheering for Austin Idol to beat Bob Backlund, but I don't think the "Universal Heartthrob" has a chance of beating the "All-American Boy".

I'll be cheering for Austin Idol to beat Bob Backlund, but I don't think the "Universal Heartthrob" has a chance of beating the "All-American Boy". If Backlund loses the belt before getting 8 successful title defenses, I might have to shut down and go back to the side feds.

LWF Legacy of Gold 3.16 Gordon Solie and Jesse Venture welcome the fans to the show and plug the main events of Pat Patterson taking on one half of the LWF World Tag Team champions, Ilio DiPaolo, and Sgt. Slaughter and Gorilla Monsoon teaming up to take on Nikolai Volkoff and Eric the Red. Gordon Solie mentions that Bob Backlund suffered a minor injury last week at the hands of Austin Idol but is still committed to wrestling him in two weeks. Ventura introduces the first match.
1. Red Pepper vs. The Moondogs Bastien and Rex start the match. Bastien dazzles Rex with some aerial tactics and clamps on the abdominal stretch. Rex is able to stretch out his arm and tag in spot. Spot and Bastien battle back and forth. Bastien clamps the abdominal stretch on Spot and wears him down until he can reach the ropes. Bastien tags in Gomez. Bastien hits the Mexican Cradle but Spot kicks out. The Moondogs turn things around with a double clothesline. Rex hits the running knee in the corner for a two count. The Moondogs hit the Moondog Splash but it isn’t enough to put Gomez away. Gomez makes a desperation tag to Bastien but the Moondogs cut off Bastien in their half of the ring and go to work. Bastien rallies and puts Spot in the Boston Crab but Rex grabs Spot by the wrists and pulls him to the ropes. Bastien nails Spot with an Atomic Drop and Gomez holds off Rex while the referee makes the three count.
Winners - Red Pepper by pinfall
Solie says Red Pepper is on a hot streak, no pun intended. Ventura shakes his head and introduces the next match.
2. Jim Brunzell vs. Mad Dog Vachon Brunzell and Vachon battle back and forth. Vachon takes over and mauls Brunzell outside the ring. Brunzell makes a comeback and hits a high flying dropkick for a two count. Vachon makes a comeback and hits a double foot stomp for a two count. Vachon hits a piledriver for the win.
Winner - Mad Dog Vachon by pinfall
Ventura says Mad Dog might be the guy to beat Bob Backlund in the near future. Gordon introduces the next match.
3. Austin Idol vs. Johnny Rodz Idol flattens Rodz with a clothesline and hooks the leg with a handful of tights for the win.
Winner - Austin Idol
Gordon Solie leaves the booth to talk to Austin Idol. Idol says Backlund and Skaaland can watch all the tapes they want but in two weeks, Austin Idol will walk out with the big gold belt. The show cuts to a commercial break. When it returns, Gordon is back in the booth and Ventura introduces the next match.
4. Brian Blair vs. Big John Studd Studd chops Blair down and whips him to the buckles. Blair nails Studd with an elbow but can’t follow up on it. Studd throws Blair to the outside and body slams him on the concrete. Blair beats the count back into the ring but is favoring his back. Studd hits a big body slam for the win.

Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Pat Patterson before his match. Patterson says someone should check Ilio DiPaolo’s green card and maybe DiPaolo and Lyons should just forfeit the belts. DiPaolo rushes down to ringside but Patterson gets a foreign object out of his tights and drills DiPaolo with it, busting him open. Patterson puts the boots to DiPaolo and Gordon scrambles back to the booth.
5. Ilio DiPaolo vs. Pat Patterson DiPaolo makes a comeback but Patterson quickly goes to the eyes and shuts him down. Patterson nails DiPaolo with the Bombs Away but can’t put the big Italian away. Patterson tells the referee the turnbuckle pad is loose. When the ref has his back turned, Patterson nails DiPaolo with the foreign object again and covers him for at wo count. Patterson wears down DiPaolo with the figure four but DiPaolo drags both of them to the ropes. DiPaolo launches a comeback and body slams Patterson for a two count. Patterson makes a comeback and hits the Bombs Away for the win.
Winner - Pat Patterson by pinfall
Ventura says he’s calling it now: The Blond Bombers will win the LWF World Tag Team titles next week. Gordon says only time will tell and introduces the main event.
6. Sgt Slaughter & Gorilla Monsoon vs. Eric the Red & Nikolai Volkoff Slaughter and Volkoff start the match. Slaughter and Volkoff come out swinging for the fences. Slaughter hits a gutbuster for a two count and tags in Gorilla. Gorilla and Volkoff battle back and forth. Volkoff hits a backbreaker drop for a two count and tags in Eric. Eric locks on the backbreaker but Monsoon breaks the hold. Monsoon gets the better of Eric on the outside and hits the Manchurian Landslide for a two count. Monsoon tags in Sarge. Sarge and Eric brawl outside the ring and Eric comes out on top. Eric locks on the backbreaker but Sarge escapes the hold. Eric tags in Volkoff. Volkoff hits the running stomp for a two count. Volkoff hits a backbreaker drop for a near fall and tags in Eric. Sarge makes a comeback and tags in Gorilla. Eric sends Gorilla tumbling to the floor after a missed turnbuckle charge. Eric nails Monsoon with the bone outside the ring and Gorilla barely beats the count back into the ring. Gorilla makes a comeback and hits the Manchurian Landslide for the win.

Solie and Ventura sign off, telling the fans to tune in next week when DiPaolo & Lyons put the tag team gold on the line against The Blond Bombers!

LWF Legacy of Gold 3.17 Gordon Solie and Jesse Venture welcome the fans to the show and plug the main event of Ilio DiPaolo & Red Lyons defending the LWF World Tag Team titles against The Blond Bombers. Gordon Solie mentions that Bob Backlund has been training hard and will face Austin Idol with the gold on the line next week. Ventura introduces the first match.
1. Tony Garea & Larry Z vs. McCord & Kernodle Garea and McCord start the match. McCord takes Garea down and hits a fist drop. Garea is able to tag out to Zbyszko. Zbsyzko turns things around but McCord elbows him in the face and covers him for a two count. McCord hits a first drop for a two count and tags in Kernodle. Zbyszko makes a comeback and locks on the abdominal stretch, wearing Kernodle down. Zbyszko reaches back and tags Garea. Garea hits an elbow drop for a two count. Zbyszko and Garea wear Kernodle down with double team tactics. Kernodle makes the hot tag to McCord. McCord nails Garea with a dropkick and covers him for a two count. McCord smashes Garea with a chair outside the ring. The referee calls for the bell.
Winners - Tony Garea & Larry Zbyszko by DQ
Ventura says Ric McCord and Rocky Kernodle need to focus on keeping things in the ring. Solie agrees and introduces the next match.
2. Eric the Red vs. Mr X Eric flattens Mr X and hits the big splash. Eric locks on the backbreaker and Mr X submits.

Solie and Ventura introduce the next match, saying it may be a turning point for both men.
3. Gorilla Monsoon vs. Mad Dog Vachon Gorilla overwhelms Mad Dog with his size and strength advantage. Mad Dog makes a comeback and brutalizes Gorilla outside the ring. Gorilla makes a comeback and throws Mad Dog all over the ring. Gorilla hits the Manchurian Landslide but Mad Dog gets his foot on the ropes before the three count. Gorilla drills Mad Dog with some chops and covers him for a two count. Gorilla wears Mad Dog down with a bear hug and hits another Manchurian Landslide for the win.

Ventura puts over Monsoon’s win but says Mad Dog isn’t out of the race yet. Solie introduces the next match.
4. Angelo Mosca vs. Brian Blair Mosca has control early on. Blair makes a comeback and downs Mosca with a forearm smash. Blair locks on the Cobra Clutch and Mosca submits.

Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Angelo Mosca. Mosca says Blair winning was a fluke and he’ll beat him the next time they wrestle. Blair returns to the ring area and says he’ll fight Mosca next week. Gordon returns to the booth and Ventura introduces the next match.
5. Sgt Slaughter vs. Mike DiBiase DiBiase gets the upper hand at the opening bell but Sarge takes control and hits a gutbuster for a two count. Sarge hits a vertical suplex for a two count and clamps on the Cobra Clutch. DiBiase taps out.

Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Slaughter. Slaughter barely gets a word in before Nikolai Volkoff interrupts the interview and challenges Slaughter. He says America is a joke and slaps Slaughter in the face. Slaughter and Volkoff brawl and the show goes to a commercial break. When it returns, Ventura introduces the main event.
6. DiPaolo & Lyons vs. The Blond Bombers - LWF World Tag Team title match DiPaolo and Patterson start the match. DiPaolo goes on a tear but can’t keep Patterson on the mat. Patterson makes a comeback and throws DiPaolo to the outside. Patterson nails DiPaolo with a chair and throws him back in the ring. Stevens distracts the referee and Patterson nails DiPaolo with a foreign object and covers him for a two count. Patterson hits the Bombs Away knee drop for a two count and tags in Stevens. Stevens hits a crippling piledriver for a two count and DiPaolo is in trouble. Stevens hits a second crippling piledriver. Stevens and Patterson double team DiPaolo in the corner. Patterson goes to the top and hits the bombs away knee drop but Lyons makes the save. Patterson hits another bombs away and Lyons hits a big dropkick to break the pin. Stevens throws Lyons out of the ring and Patterson hits another Bombs Away for the win.

1. Race & Hennig vs. The Mulkeys Larry Hennig and Bill Mulkey start the match. Hennig runs over Bill and hits The Axe for the win.

Ventura puts over Race & Hennig and reminds the viewers of Race & Hennig’s recent past against the new LWF World Tag Team champs, the Blond Bombers. Gordon introduces the next match.
2. SD Jones vs. Nikolai Volkoff Jones is fired up and nails Volkoff with the head butt for a two count. Volkoff recovers and locks on the Russian Bear Hug. Jones taps out.

Volkoff continues his attack after the match, giving Jones two backbreaker drops. Sgt Slaughter hits the ring and chases Volkoff off. Gordon mentions that Slaughter vs. Volkoff has been signed for next week. Ventura introduces the next match.
3. The Conways vs. Fuji & Saito with Lou Albano Senior and Fuji start the match. Senior nails Fuji with a dropkick and hits Let’s Twist and Head Butt for a two count. Senior locks on the sleeper but Fuji escapes the hold. Senior tags in Junior. Fuji and Junior battle outside the ring and Junior comes out on top. Fuji turns things around and hits the middle rope splash for a two count. Fuji tags in Saito. Saito hits a second rope chop for a two count. Saito hits the Saito suplex but Junior gets his foot on the ropes. Saito hits another Saito Suplex and tags in Fuji. Fuji and Saito double team Junior in the corner. Saito hits the thrust kick to the throat for the win.

Ventura says Fuji & Saito are the team to beat in the LWF. Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Brian Blair before the next match. Blair is fired up and promises to beat Mosca with the Airplane Spin for a kid he visited in the hospital yesterday. Blair takes his corner and waits for his opponent to be introduced.
4. Brian Blair vs. Angelo Mosca Blair starts strong but Mosca squashes him with a clothesline. Mosca locks on the sleeper and Blair taps out.

Ventura puts over Angelo Mosca and Gordon leaves the booth to have a word with Red Lyons. Red Lyons says he’s sorry for disappointing the fans last week but promises to beat Ray Stevens this week and he and Ilio Dipaolo will win the belts back next week. Lyons takes his corner and Gordon heads back to the booth.
5. Red Lyons vs. Ray Stevens Lyons is fired up and unloads on Stevens. Stevens is battered all over the ring but makes a comeback and nails Lyons with a crippling piledriver for a two count. Stevens hits a vertical suplex for a two count and tosses Lyons outside. Lyons brains Stevens with a chair and the referee calls for the bell.
Winner - Ray Stevens by DQ
Ventura and Solie plug next week’s main event, the return match between The Blond Bombers and Lyons & DiPaolo for the LWF World Tag Team titles, plus Sgt Slaughter vs. Nikolai Volkoff. Solie introduces the main event.
6. Bob Backlund with Arnold Skaaland vs. Austin Idol - LWF World Heavyweight title match Backlund wastes no time and goes on the attack. Backlund hits a delayed vertical suplex for a two count. Backlund scores near falls with a backbreaker and a piledriver. Backlund locks on the crossface chickenwing and Idol taps out.

Ventura and Solie sign off, telling the fans to tune in next week.

LWF Legacy of Gold 3.19 Gordon Solie and Jesse Venture welcome the fans to the show and plug the main events of Sgt Slaughter vs. Nikoali Volkoff and a return match between the Blond Bombers and Red Lyons & Ilio DiPaolo for the LWF World Tag Team titles. Ventura introduces the first match.
1. DLJ & Snuka vs. The Mulkeys Don Leo Jonathan and Bill Mulkey start the match. DLJ works over Bill. Bill tags out to Randy and Randy gets more of the same. Jonathan hits the rolling back splash and tags in Snuka. Snuka hits the Superfly Leap for the win.
Winners - DLJ & Snuka by pinfall
Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Don Leo Jonathan and Jimmy Snuka. Jonathan says they’ve come to the LWF because it has the best tag team competition in the world and they have their eyes on the gold. Snuka goes into a rambling promo about climbing into a volcano when Fuji and Saito attack DLJ and Snuka from behind. Security storms the ring and Gordon high tails it back to the booth. Jesse Ventura introduces the next match.
2. Tony Atlas vs. Eric the Red Atlas and Eric battle back and forth, neither man able to hold the advantage. Eric gets some momentum going and focuses his attack on Atlas’ lower back. Eric locks on the backbreaker but Atlas fights his way out of the hold. Eric locks on the backbreaker a second time but Atlas will not submit! Atlas makes a comeback and dumps Eric out of the ring. Eric nails Atlas in the lower back with his bone and rolls him back into the ring. Atlas comes back and hits the press slam and splash for the win.

Eric nails Atlas in the back with the bone after the match and leaves him writhing in pain in the ring.
Ventura says he likes Eric’s competitive edge. Gordon introduces the next match.
3. Big John Studd vs. Jim Brunzell Brunzell is unintimidated and takes the fight to Studd but just can’t get the big man off his feet. Studd levels Brunzell with a lariat out of the corner and covers him for a two count. Studd manhandles Brunzell and hits a double arm suplex for a two count. Brunzell rallies but Studd shuts him down and hoists him up in the backbreaker. Brunzell submits.

Gordon leaves the booth to get a word with Big John Studd. Studd says Bob Backlund is the weakest champion the LWF has ever had and challenges him to a match. Backlund and Arnold Skaaland come out to the ring and Backlund accepts the challenge. The two men are staring one another down when the show goes to commercial break. When it returns, the next match is in progress.
4. Gorilla Monsoon vs. Angelo Mosca Mosca has the momentum when we join the match in progress. Mosca whips Gorilla to the buckles and Gorilla nails him with a lariat and covers him for a two count. Gorilla hits a backbreaker for the win.

Ventura says it’s about time Gorilla won a match. Gordon Solie mentions that next week’s main event will be Don Leo Jonathan & Jimmy Snuka vs. Mr Fuji and Mr Saito. Backlund vs. Studd has been signed for two weeks from tonight. Ventura introduces the next match.
5. Sgt Slaughter vs. Nikolai Volkoff Slaughter and Volkoff battle back and forth. Solie mentions that Slaughter rarely faces someone stronger than him. Ventura says Slaughter always faces wrestlers smarter than him. Slaughter gains control and hits a throat drop on the ropes for a two count. Sarge hits the Slaughter Cannon and covers Volkoff but Volkoff kicks out. Slaughter and Volkoff brawl outside the ring. Volkoff gets the upper hand but can’t capitalize on it. Slaughter hits a gutbuster for a two count. Slaughter locks on the Cobra Clutch and Volkoff taps out.

Solie says Sgt Slaughter has to be in line for a shot at the LWF World Heavyweight title at this point. Ventura introduces the next match.

DiPaolo has the early advantage but Patterson takes him down and locks on the Boston Crab, wearing him down. Patterson throws DiPaolo out of the ring and body slams him on the concrete. DiPaolo beats the count back into the ring but is favoring his back. Patterson hits the Bombs Away for a two count. After jawing with the ref, Patterson tags in Stevens. The tag title match ended the way I expected. I think Studd vs Monsoon could be a fun match.
