Card 11 Civic Auditorium, Oshawa, ON- October 13, 2022

Brad Armstrong v. Paul Ellering
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Hot opener to get things going. Both competitors traded moves back and forth with near prefect counters. Armstrong picked up the pace but Ellering was game. Armstrong caught Ellering with a lariat bouncing out of the corner and nearly took the victory with the following two handed bulldog. Armstrong used a sleeper hold to do some damage before Ellering was able to power back including back to back overhead body slams. Armstrong was able to use a sleeper hold late in the match and it was enough to keep Ellering on the mat for the victory after about ten minutes. Winner: Armstrong *** ½

American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell & Scotty Riggs) v. Vachons (Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon)
Referee: James Beard
Fans new this one might be a bit crazy especially when Beard came to the ring to officiate the action. The Males used double teaming and quick tags early on to get the upper hand. The Vachons came back before long and a Mad Dog Pounce shut down Bagwell. Butcher Vachon took the action back to the floor and Bagwell was ready with a big body slam that put Vachon through a ringside table. With the fans roaring, Riggs assisted Bagwell in rolling Vachon back inside where Bagwell ended it with a YELLOWJACKET SUPLEX after about 11 minutes. Winners: Males ** ½

Adrian Adonis v. Hugh Morrus
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Adonis took Morrus to task from the opening bell including a gut wrench backbreaker and knee smashes. Morrus escaped to the floor where Adonis cracked him with a chair after just under two minutes and that was it. Winner: Morrus by disqualification. DUD

Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) w/Wild Bill Berry v. Chris Candido & “Playboy” Buddy Rose
Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside
The official had strict instructions for both sides and the fans were concerned this one might be over early. They could have not been more wrong. This was just an epic back and forth battle that had the fans on the edge of the seats despite their dislike for both teams. Double teaming and defensive tags ruled the action early on including a Flapjack to Al Costello and later a Kangaroo Leap to Candido and a catapult smash to both Candido and Rose. The Champions looked to have the match won after a BOOMERANG to Candido but Rose made a key pin save. The Kangaroos kept on Candido including a Kangaroo Leap and another BOOMERANG but Rose again jumped into the action this time dropping an elbow onto Al Costello and making sure Candido ended on top of Costello for a big two and half count. Rose looked to have the match won with an INSIDE BACKBREAKER but a pin save kept the action going. Candido took a third BOOMERANG and somehow put a foot on the ropes (Roll of 12!) and the fans exploded. Rose took over the match for his team with Candido not even able to stand on the apron for a stretch. Rose survived a Marble Bor Leglock and Catapult Smash to keep the match going before Candido had to finally get back into the mix. The champions had control as the action spilled to the floor where Berry decided to get into the action and run Rose into the ringside table. Dollar saw the manager get involved and called for the disqualification after about 37 minutes of tag team glory. Winners: Chris Candido & “Playboy” Buddy Rose by disqualification. *****

Tiger Conway Sr. & Tiger Conway Jr. v. Long Riders (“Wild” Bull Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin)
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Dollar has strict instructions for both teams to start off the second half of the show. The Conways do a great job of keeping “Hog” Irwin away from his corner and work him over making quick tags. “Wild” Bill finally gets into the match and gets in some offense against the younger Conway but soon Conway Sr. tags in once again against Scott Irwin and takes back control of the match. A head butt stuns Irwin and allows Conway Jr. to take flight with a FLYING HEAD BUTT for the three count after about 10 minutes while Conway Sr. blocks the pin save. Winners: Conway Sr. and Conway Jr. ** ½

Dutch Savage v. Stan Hansen
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Savage and Hansen trades blows at the bell and both men seemed to enjoy it. Savage sent Hansen into the corner and the big man from Borger came out with a clothesline that nearly knocked Savage out cold. Knee drop without the knee pad followed and set up a big elbow drop. A LARIAT ended it after only four minutes. Winner: Stan Hansen *

AWA Women’s Champion Candi Divine v. Sherri Martel
Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside
Martel has some words for Morgan Dollar before the bell and the official appears shaken up before the action gets underway. The action is back and forth. Divine nearly claims the victory with a quick roll up rebounding off the ropes but Martel gets her shoulder up. The go to the floor and back into the ring. Martel mounts an offensive with slams and a spinning toe hold. Divine uses a clothesline to get a second near fall but again Martel is able kick out of the cover. There was a great exchange of forearms late and Martel came out with the edge and put away Divine after 12 minutes with a clothesline. Winner and new AWA Women’s Champion Sherri Martel. *** ½

“Macho Man” Randy Savage & Canadian Heavyweight Champion Ken Shamrock v. Doctor X & Frank Gotch
Referee: James Beard
The intensity in this tag team battle was obvious from the outset as all four men pulled out all the stops to get the upper hand including a controversial head butt from X to Savage that rendered “Macho Man” a bloody mess. Savage showed his toughness despite his blood loss surviving a GOTCH TOE HOLD and a reverse nelson before finally being able to tag out. The fans popped when Gotch squared off with Shamrock and their technical exchanges were awesome. The edge went to Gotch this time around. The fans were not happy when Gotch used a chair on Shamrock’s leg at ringside. Later, X nearly submitted Shamrock with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. The action when back and forth. Gotch escaped an ANKLE LOCK from the Canadian Champion. All four men tagged in and out as the match came to finish and X manage to catch Shamrock with a flying knee drop to get the three count after 32 minutes of insane action. Winners: X & Gotch. *****

Card 12 Niagara Falls Memorial Arena, Niagara Falls, ON- October 15, 2022

Paul Ellering v. Virgil
Referee: Joey Marella
This was a closely contested opener. Just when Virgil appeared to be in some trouble he always managed to come back with a standing dropkick or boxing flurry to get back into the match. An atomic drop scored a two count for Ellering about half way through the match. Ellering took control late and caught Virgil with a NECKBREAKER and claimed the win after about nine minutes. Winner: Ellering * ½

American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell & Scotty Riggs) v. Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin)
Referee: Morgan Dollar
The Males had the upper hand until “Wild” Bill used his bullwhip on Riggs earning sold heat from the fans. The Long Riders when to work on Riggs with the action spilling outside. Both men started to brawl and refused to listen to the official who had strict instructions for both teams before the bell. Dollar called for a double disqualification after about four minutes of action. Winner: Double disqualification *

Adrian Adonis v. Dutch Savage
Referee: Dick Woehrle
There was some intensity early on from both competitors. Savage used a thumb to throat to slow down Adonis and score a near fall but Adonis was able to come back including a flying head scissors that put Savage to the mat for a one count. More importantly, it allowed Adonis to set up GOODNIGHT IRENE. Savage made the ropes the first time but could not escape a second finisher from Adonis who claimed the win after about six minutes. Winner: Adonis * ½

Brad Armstrong v. Buddy Rogers
Referee: James Beard
The fans were on the edge of their seats for most of the match as Armstrong control well over 80% of the match and picked up several near falls on Rogers who was making his debut. The speed of Armstrong proved too much for Rogers at times who took several breaks on the floor to jaw with ringside. Rogers escaped a sleeper and finally found an opening and went on the attack. Rogers landed several jumping knee smashes to Armstrong’s knee slowing down his attack. Rogers nearly stole the win with a roll up after a missed turnbuckle charge but could only get a two count. Finally, it was an atomic drop that put Armstrong to the mat the final time after 17 minutes of action. Winner: Rogers ***

Tiger Conway Sr. v. Mad Dog Vachon
Referee: James Beard
Vachon barely needed two minutes to get the victory in this one as he controlled from the outset. Back to back double foot stomps should have needed it but Conway got his shoulder up. Vachon hit a gutbuster and the match was over. Winner: Vachon DUD

Sputnik Monroe, Chris Candido & “Playboy” Buddy Rose v. Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) & “Wild” Red Berry
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Monroe was making his debut and started off for his side. He never tagged out. Monroe looked very impressive as he took the fight to the floor and back into the ring against Al Costello but a defensive tag turned the momentum of the match. A Kangaroo Leap did damage and then the Champions combined to hit their finisher BOOMERANG three straight times on Monroe before being able to get his shoulders to the match for the win after 9 minutes. Winners: Kangaroos & Berry **

“Macho Man” Randy Savage v. Doctor X
Referee: Joey Marella
Savage has the fans behind and takes the advantage including a neckbreaker clothesline. A deathjump cross body has the fans out of their seats but X hooks the tights and rolls through for a two and ¾ count. X then cracks Savage with a head butt after “fixing” his mask. Savage goes down and is busted open. Marella is no fool and calls for the disqualification after only four minutes. Winner: Savage by disqualification *

NWA Canadian Open Heavyweight Champion Ken Shamrock v. Frank Gotch
Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside, Vintage Charts
Gotch has words with Dollar before the bell drawing heat and intimidating the official before the match. Gotch shoves Shamrock early and both men fall to the floor but Shamrock twists and lands on Gotch who is clearly dazed from the impact with the floor. Gotch barely regains the ring and is almost counted out. Shamrock attempts a submission with an ANKLE LOCK but Gotch makes the ropes. It is all Shamrock for a stretch but Gotch manages to weather the storm and gets Shamrock into a reverse nelson. Gotch then works the upper body and then lower body leading to a GOTCH TOE HOLD to take the first fall after fourteen minutes. The second fall starts with Gotch in control but he gets shoved to the floor and cracks his head against the concrete. Gotch again struggles to get back into the ring and is nearly counted out for the second time in the match. Shamrock is all over Gotch with rolling kneebars and flying hit attacks but cannot get in a position to go for the win before Gotch comes back with a fireman’s carry and then an Iowa backdrop. Gotch goes back to a reverse nelson to slow things down and from that point it is back and forth until Gotch traps Shamrock in a guillotine choke and we have a new champion after twenty six minutes in two straight falls. Winner and new NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch. ****

Thanks for feedback my friend. I am really enjoying the main event mix with Gotch, Shamrock, Savage and Doctor X. With the arrival of Buddy Rogers things remain tight at to the top of the cards.

I am glad to see you were enjoying the Conway tag team. Unfortunately, Tiger Conway Jr's time in the territory has come to an end so the show at Niagara Falls was their final appearance for the time being. Also departing is Chris Candido which is why Sputnik Monroe is booked into the Cage Match at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Card 013 Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, ON – November 20, 2022

The Trooper v. Virgil
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Trooper was able to use his size to control the action early but Virgil caught his opponent on the top of the corner and slammed him to the mat to take control. A Cobra Clutch slowed down Trooper but only momentarily as he was able to counter a backdrop into a nasty looking piledriver. The BIG PINCH followed after approximately six minutes giving Trooper the win in his debut. Winner: Trooper *

The Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scot “Hog” Irwin) v. Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon
Referee: Dick Woehrle
No one in the Gardens thought Woehrle stood any chance of controlling this one and there were some crazy moments as you would expect with these four competitors doing battle. The Riders did a good job early of cutting off Mad Dog from his brother making quick tags. Vachon kicked out after a FLOAT KICK from “Wild” Bill and was eventually able to get the tag to Butcher Vachon. With the momentum turned, it was the Vachon’s turn to keep one of the their opponents in the ring as they focused their attack on Scott Irwin. Mad Dog Vachon crushed “Hog” Irwin with a PILEDRIVER but Bill Irwin was there for the save. A second PILEDRIVER lead to Bill Irwin and Butcher Vachon joining the action. The Vachons quickly cleared “Wild” Bill from the ring and went back to work. Butcher Vachon then used a his HANGMAN on Scott Irwin to secure the victory after about 17 minutes of action in what many considered an unofficial number one contenders match. Winners: Vachons ***

Brad Armstrong v. Paul Ellering
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Classic battle of power versus speed in this one. Ellering tosses around (literally) Armstrong early on but the second generation competitor has enough wits about him to avoid being in a pinning predicament. The fans are not pleased when Ellering sends Armstrong shoulder first into the post but the action carries on. Armstrong is finally able to use his skills and counters a cross body into a roll up for a near fall. It is back and forth from that point. Armstrong tries to stop Ellering with a sleeper and later catches him flush with a dropkick. The finish was a flashbulb moment with Armstrong hitting a perfect deathjump crossbody after about eleven minutes to get the three count. Winner: Armstrong ***

Tiger Conway Sr. v. Buddy Rogers
Referee: James Beard
The Nature Boy was working the crowd for heat from the moment he came down the ramp. At the bell, the fans did not have a lot to cheer about as Rogers dominated the action. Conway Sr. finally caught a break and was able to counter a backdrop with a piledriver. QUADRUPLE HEAD BUTT followed but Rogers was able to get his shoulder up at the last second and the fans thought it was over. Rogers begged off and then went back to work with jumping knee smashes and punches. Rogers then caught Conway in his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE for submission after about eight minutes of action. Winner: Rogers **

NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch v. “Macho Man” Randy Savage
Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside
This was an intense battle from start to finish. There was no clear advantage for either competitor early as they traded moves, blows and counters in an effort to get the upper hand. When Savage resulted to punches, Gotch came back with a thumb to the eye. “Macho Man” landed a flying axe-handle to the floor that had the fans on their feet. Savage picked up his aggression level with a neckbreaker clothesline, piledriver and running knee to the back before mounting the corner for a FLYING ELBOW SMASH. Gotch kicked out of the cover at the last possible second and ringside exploded. Savage was all over the champion from that point but Gotch managed to counter and a crossface and bar arm slowed the “Macho Man” down. Both men began to trade moves again and the fans were on the edge of the seats. The action began to flow to the floor more often and Savage ran Gotch into the ring post busting the champion open. A bloody Gotch looked to be in serious trouble as the action spilled outside again but the “Macho Man” took things too far smashing Gotch with the ringside bell leaving the referee no choice but to call for the disqualification after 20 minutes of action. Winner: Gotch by disqualification *** ½

Marcus Alexander Bagwell v. Adrian Adonis
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Bagwell was making his singles debut tonight and he put on a quite a show for his fans dominating most of this encounter with an impressive offensive attack leading to multiple near falls. Adonis looked overwhelmed but managed to kick out after a big splash, power slam and a YELLOW JACKET SUPLEX. Dollar became caught up in the action and was out of it (seven moves) for a stretch of time and Bagwell had the match won with a dropkick but there was no referee to make the obvious three count. Adonis managed to come back and landed a pair of DDTs and used GOODNIGHT IRENE to force Bagwell into the ropes. The finish came when Adonis bounced out of the corner with a defensive clothesline that stunned Bagwell. Adonis then trapped Bagwell in GOODNIGHT IRENE to complete his comeback after 16 minutes. Winner:  Adonis  *** ½

Hugh Morrus v. Dutch Savage
Referee: Joey Marella
Hoss fight in this one with both men not backing down early. Morrus took over picking up near falls after a power bomb and a pair of spinebusters. Savage took the action to the floor where the two competitors tore it up. Morrus maintained his advantage and used No Joke to set up NO LAUGHING MATTER for the three count after about seven minutes of action. Winner: Morrus **

“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert v. Juventud Guerrera
Referee: James Beard
The fans were psyched to see Guerrera make his debut but “Hot Stuff” had other ideas and really took over the match from early on with some less then honourable tactics including an assault on the floor and later a foreign object blow that earned Gilbert great heat. Guerrera kicked out after a HOT SHOT at the last second which the fans loved. With ringside behind him, Guerrera was able to get the best of a brawl on the floor. Back in the ring, back to back 450 SPLASHES rocked the fans but could not put Gilbert away. A running lariat scored a two and three quarters count before Air Juvi struck and ended it after about twelve minutes. Winner: Guerrera *** ½

Ken Shamrock v. Doctor X
Referee: Joey Marella
After an early exchange of encounters Doctor X controlled the action with a series of forearms and a full nelson but Shamrock stormed back with kicks, strikes, suplexes and flying hip attacks. X tried to escape to the floor but it did nothing to slow the attack of his opponent and this one was over after about seven minutes when Shamrock used his ANKLE LOCK for the submission. Winner: Shamrock *

Steel Cage Match - Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) w/ “Wild” Red Berry v. “Playboy” Buddy Rose & Sputnik Monroe
Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside
Monroe turned out to be a real wild card in this match as he controlled against both Kangaroos with a mix of science and brawling. Eventually, the tag team experience of the champions turned the momentum as they double teams Monroe which lead to Rose entering the match. Rose did not fare well and soon was busted open after getting whipped into the steel wall. The champions combined for a Catapult Smash on Rose and retained the titles after about nine minutes of action. Winners: Kangaroos. * ½

Card 014 The Forum, Hamilton, ON - Maple Leaf Wrestling Taping – November 21, 2022

Doctor X v. Jake “The Milkman” Milliman
Referee: Joey Marella
Milliman had the fans behind him and he turned the support into an impressive outing but he was not able to get his opponent into a position to go for the win. X took over late and used a perfect full nelson to get the submission after six minutes. Winner: X * ½

Gordon Solie interviews Doctor X after the match. “Macho Man” Randy Savage interrupts and lays out a Steel Cage Match challenge to X who accepts.

Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin) v. Bill Mulkey & Randy Mulkey
Referee: Dick Woehrle
The Riders dominated this one from start to finish but took their time dishing out the punishment. “Wild” Bill earned some serious heat when he attacked Randy Mulkey with his bullwhip. Scott Irwin used his SUPERPLEX for the win against Bill Mulkey after about six minutes. Winner: Long Riders DUD

NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch is interviewed by Gordon Solie before his match with The Trooper. He has some harsh words for his opponent which prompts Trooper to leave the ring and come after Gotch in the interview area. It is a brawl!

NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch v. The Trooper
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Trooper leads the battle back to the ring but Gotch is soon able to turn things around crushing Trooper with an Iowa backdrop and a series of punches. Gotch continues to keep the action on the mat and at a slow pace before moving into a GOTCH TOEHOLD for the submission after about four minutes. Winner: Gotch *

“Macho Man” Randy Savage v. Frogman LeBlanc
Referee: Joey Marella
This was over in no time at all with Savage crushing LeBlanck with a FLYING ELBOW SMASH in less than a minute. Winner: Savage DUD

ECW World Television Champion Rob Van Dam w/Bill Alfonso v. Mike Johnson
Referee: James Beard
Van Dam has the fans fired up and gets the win with a FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH in about one minute. Winner: Van Dam DUD

Rob Van Dam w/Bill Alfonso are interviewed by Gordon Solie who has lots of questions about why Van Dam is here about his title but things are interrupted by NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch who attacks the ECW title holder. Gotch smashes Van Dam’s leg with a chair and applies a GOTCH TOE HOLD. Locker room clears to break things up. Van Dam needs assistance leaving the ring (3 card injury)

Adrian Adonis v. Ken Shamrock
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Shamrock is focused from the opening bell and quickly has Adonis in trouble with a smash off the top followed by a deathjump cross body that puts Adonis to the mat for the three count after just two minutes. Winner: Shamrock DUD

Ron Hutchison v. Sputnik Monroe
Referee: Joey Marella
This was a competitor encounter from bell to bell with Hutchison turning some heads picking up near falls after a deathjump cross body block and after an Olympic Roll Up. Monroe continued to struggle but managed to catch Hutchison with a running knee lift for the comeback victory (Snake Eyes) after ten minutes of action. Winner: Monroe **

Johnny Rodz v. Hugh Morrus
Referee: Morgan Dollar
Rodz went blow for blow with Morrus in the opening moments but running avalanche crushed Rodz in the corner and lead to a No Joke for a near fall. A top rope elbow drop landed and ended the match after four minutes. Winner: Morrus *

Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) w/ “Wild” Red Berry v. Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon
Referee: Morgan Dollar
The champions and Berry shared their opinions with Morgan Dollar on officiating before the bell and Dollar appears shaken up. The non-title action gets underway and the Kangaroos focus on Mad Dog Vachon keeping him in the ring. Vachon kicks out after an AUSTRALIAN BACKDROP from Costello. The Kangaroos team up for a Kangaroo Leap and then Heffernan connects with a Kangaroo Kick for the three count (snake eyes) after about five minutes. Winners: Kangaroos DUD

Gordon Solie interviews Red Berry and The Fabulous Kangaroos who boast about their skills and their championship reign but the Long Riders come out and challenge the Champions to a match. Berry accepts on behalf of the Kangaroos but Costello & Heffernan do not seem thrilled with the actions of their manager.

Nacho Barrera v. Juventud Guerrera
Referee: Joey Marella
The brawling attack of Barrera given him the advantage early on but Guerrera rebounds off the ropes and counters a backdrop with a piledriver. A 450 SPLASH follow and this one is over after about two minutes. Winner: Guerrera

Brad Armstrong & Ric Mccord v. Doug Gilbert & “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert
Referee: Dick Woehrle
The fans were behind the new duo of Mccord and Armstrong as the action got underway. Doug Gilbert was joining his brother for the first time in the territory but did not get off to a great start as he fell victim to the speed and quick tags of Armstrong & Mccord. A FLYING BODY PRESS should have ended it but Eddie Gilbert was able to make the save. Mccord kept on Gilbert but was able to catch Mccord with a foreign object and get the three count after eight minutes. Winner: Gilbert & Gilbert. **

Marcus Alexander Bagwell v. Buddy Rogers
Referee: Joey Marella 16
There is a great pace to the this one from the opening bell with Bagwell pressing the attack. Rogers gets flung into the ropes and rebounds out and catches Bagwell with an inside cradle for a three count while hooking the tights for good measure at five minutes. Winner: Rogers DUD

Dark Match NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Frank Gotch & Doctor X v. “Macho Man” Randy Savage & Ken Shamrock
Referee: Morgan Dollar
X and Savage tear into each other from the bell and the fans eat it up. “Macho Man” takes the action to the floor but X is ready for him and bounces Savage’s head off the ring side table.
