I understand that the changes are difficult but the game has changed and evolved in 35 years.
Waterloo should be interesting, if it works, awesome. If not, it was a nice try that didn't quite work.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction, we've all pretty much known this was the plan since Chicago. The Hall weekend is full, I've listened to Tim, Chad and Cory talk about it for years. The down time you speak of is food, bar and sleep. Tim, Chad (especially,) and Cory are all really busy helping but for attendees like ourselves there is plenty of down time. I went to the Hall of Fame weekend in Waterloo in 2018 and in 2021 and these has been large gaps of time between events (and that is even if you decide to do all of the events.) Some of the things I have done during down time in Waterloo include going back to the hotel to do my laundry, play my fed, take a Lyft to CVS to get some allergy medicine, go to Doughy Joeys for one of their incredible sandwiches, etc. So I definitely think from my experience that with good planning it is possible to do both Galacticon and the Hall of Fame in the same weekend. Instead of as you said earlier about thinking it like a wrestling convention with a few tournaments thrown in, I think of it as Galacticon with Hall of Fame activities where you can do things like get some LOW and Indy cards autographed, meet some awesome wrestlers, etc. Plus some of my favorite people are here in this community and it is always good to see them again.

I'm going to try my damnedest to make it this year. Probably the closest to home it'll ever be. Only about 5 1/2 hours from the Stl area. Can't beat that.

Zeke is spot-on. I think it will be better with G-Con stuff going on to get rid of some of that dead time.

I experienced the event last year and there is a bunch of dead time early in the day, which we will fill with the GalactiCon activities. I think a big difference from the Wrestling Geekfest is that its not on me for everything, so I will focus on the GalactiCon parts and the rest of the weekend will be executed by the HOF Staff. I know there are plenty of folks who would like to go to either event and having it together for one time may be able to entice more folks than would come to either individually. I figured there would be some folks not happy with the setup, but its a one year thing and next year back to Jamestown, so everyone has something to look forward to IMO.

I would love to attend but I already have one vacation to the U.S. planned for next year. Considering how poorly the Canadian Dollar has been doing the past few years I simply can't justify a second trip. Maybe in 2024.
Hopefully one year Galacticon will make it's way out to the West Coast. Seattle's a great city and it would be a very short drive for me. I always enjoy visiting California too and there's plenty of great options there for the convention.

Those who have not attended a hall of fame weekend do not understand the LAID BACK pace and casual nature of things. It's not a "wrestling convention" as such, it's a celebration. There will be loads of time for Filsinger Games activities. So many of us were there this year it felt like a mini Galacticon anyway. It's like you're all gathered in the same place, but it's not like there are structured events happening every hour.

It will be good to see you again, and if only because it will be the year we get the Great Wojo!

I speak as one that has never attended both events but one possible good thing is people who could only afford to go to one or the other, as far as hotel and airfare and all of that, can find a way to do both and that could lead to a bigger attendance for Galacticon. Personally, if I can make it I am looking forward to Galacticon and if there is time or events in regards to the HOF I want to attend I will try and fit them around Galacticon.
