You do realize Tom lives in Arizona now and not Jamestown. Tom still is in charge but has other people handling the various game lines other than the GWF and any other project that interest him. But Tom still has the final say on game matters - no matter what line (see Cstrong, Johnny as a prime example of this). I think we can cherish the past, but at a certain point we also have to realize that things do change. When the first Galacticon happened cellphones were similar to the ones that Zack Morris used in Saved By The Bell and only the uber rich used them, most people still had land line phones, and Al Gore had yet to invent the Internet. Further, people still swore by cable TV, and, oh yeah, Bill Clinton was in his final term ... as Governor of Arkansas, and The Braves, Red Sox, White Sox, and Cubs were still looking for their first World Series titles (either ever or in greater than 70 years). Needless to say, there's a lot of stuff that has changed since the first Galacticon, and this is just another "change." Really, other than it being in Waterloo, Iowa and during the Tragos/Thesz Hall Of Fame induction weekend, is it really that different than 2021? There will be a virtual component and an in person component. There will be an auction where KB, Grant, via a proxy, Pete Beck, and someone else (probably me) will bid to support a worthy cause (the TNT Hall of Fame). Again, I for one am incredibly excited for this weekend, as it will expose those who only attend GCON virtually but go to TNT Induction weekend to GCON in person, and vice versa. For one year. That's a win in my book!

We do realize that he is in Arizona and that other people are in charge. I have never complained about the service or about the game, however, things do seem to be slipping. There is a lot of grumblings about different things. The Iowa thing is just the tip of the current iceberg. Galacticon has always been a group within itself. It was always about us the promoters. It seems that we are losing that. It seems to be more about the wrestlers than the game. I understand Tom is getting older and he has other careers and he is in Arizona. None of us is disputing that. Most of us are not complaining about the guests that we get to hear from or the news we get. What a lot of us are not happy about is that it has seemingly shifted from the promoters to the wrestlers. We are not going to get the time we usually get to about our promotions and how we play the game and the house rules we get and trade or sell boots. All of that was a common theme. Now us in cyber land had to wait to see what was left over and get what we can, but it was fun and a treasure hunt. It seems that we have had to go to other areas for that. Facebook and Youtube seems to be the places for us to chat openly about our feds. I know that things have changed. I don't mind waiting extra for the mailings, but I do miss where some openly talk and not have to worry about being chastized or talk down too. I don't know what the problem is, but there is a growing problem between the company and the players. It's been this way since the last Galacticon. The main issue I have heard is a lot of feel that we are not being listened to and that only the top eschalon are making all the decisions. I'll be honest, when I first started coming on Zoom it was nice when we broke into groups and we sat around and talked wrestling. Things have tightened up and not many of us get to chat with openly. Again, its not the idea place for meetings with so many, but there are some that feel the upper members of the game have taken over and left us out. I'll be honest. I know how it's going to be and I register just for the cards and to listen to the guests as I am playing another game. I might pop on and chat in the chat to say hi. It's ashamed that things seem to be changing in ways that some don't like it and others do, but it is. Down the road it may not be beneficial to the game. This year, many feel, Galacticon is going to be lost in the hoopla of the Hall of Fame. While it may make since to some others feel the loss of our own identity. I hope in future Galacticons, you will keep this in mind.

Who runs Bartertown? We run Bartertown.
In other words, Galacticon should be what WE make of it. It is nice that others put in their time to organize it and make plans but at the end of the day the con should be about fans getting together and having fun. If the majority want to hang out at the con and not go do HOF things than that is what they should do. Just like fans cannot make it to every con, if they are at the HOF that is not different than other years when they could not make the con. At least, that is how I see it. I have not been fortunate to make it to a con yet so who knows.

I hope in future Galacticons, you will keep this in mind. While I have all been to one Galacticon in person, I can say that last year I received a ton of bootlegs. An awesome out of the ring chart, multiple bootlegs for the GWF, and also some for the many personas of Mike Delve. I also had @kevinb tell me about this amazing house rule his son uses with ag and pw moves. I had a great time hearing about Jeff Manning's GWF Fed, and also sharing where I was at with my classics era fed. A little bummed about the fact that I wasn't and still am not yet to 2087. The goal is to get there by the Road To Galacticon 2023 Virtual Con, we'll see what happens with that or not. I can just say that I loved my time at Galacticon and Hall of Fame weekend last year to have them combined is kinda cool. As Emperor Norton said, HOF weekend felt like a mini GCON to begin with, and with the laid back nature of the event, I still had time to talk to Sam Fain and Tournament Master about the stuff going on in my COTG fed, and the preparations I was making for my Legends Fed to relaunch it. It bums me out that folks have those concerns and that people feel like Galacitcon isn't about the promoters anymore. But as on_the_edge said, we have the power to take control and make GCON what we want! I am certainly going to have fun seeing my friends, hearing about what is going on in their feds, and connecting with my friends from my HOF family as well.

I am just saying that there is some that feel underappreciated within the Filsinger Game world and that might not add up to anything or it may grow into something larger down the line. That was all my point was.

Change is inevitable, but changing Galacticon to Legendscons is a bit disconcerting IMO. This game and company was built on the back of COTG and now it seems to be ALL about LOW, and COTG is the forgotten redheaded step child. I said it before and I will say it again, I have nothing against the TNT HALL OF FAME - God knows I've contributed more than my fair share to the cause. I just believe it won't be Galacticon, it will be TNT Hall weekend with some sporadic tournaments. I've lived for that one weekend in July for 34 years now and now it's an after thought to a bigger event. I've asked this earlier and I will ask it again - is this still Tom's company or is he just the figure head for Melesky Games?
Looking forward to 2024 in Jamestown where Galacticon is the focus.
Rant over...
Feel free to quote me Barry and Troy and tell me why I'm wrong to feel the way I do.

Alrighty, the red headed step child is going to chime in now... Concerning what others think GCON is changing to, it always has had its little cliques at the convention. People breakdown with in to groups they are familiar with and tell the others "I wasn't talking to you" when trying to cross talk. It is just human nature... I find that most people that are complaining haven't even been to an in-person Con...the virtual aspect was brought in because of the pandemic but later to be more inside to those that don't attend. Hell...the release of sets are even pushed up because promoters complained that attendees receive the new cards a few hours prior...that was one of the perks of going in person. Well, that is gone as well... Now a lot of the promoters from the East coast complain that last year they had to travel and even this year the complaints have started already...good! Now east coasters know how the rest of the country feels- I believe that it should travel and not be held in a space to make it more convenient for one person. And the auctions lately have been just stupid...it feels like we are getting this high to assist with paying off the hall for more names... its cool that we get guess speakers (assuming we can hear them) but anymore the event feels like bid for LOW-name-CON... Although not my favorite spot, Waterloo is as good as any place to have the Con...I agree that the events are spaced far enough apart that filsinger game fans can do what they do... Concerning divide in the community, have you not been around long? Cliques big time in this community especially when the Ingersol board was around and we are still picking up pieces from the big explosion. Plus, from what I remember...fans of GWF (and not playing LOW) really find LOW fans annoying af...the ink hasn't even dried from the last release and they already start "who's next? Or how about Bret? I don't think this guy is main event? Or why him?" There I said things that have been said and aired these things... It is a game for f sake and some of the grumbling are just whiney (and I know whiney )... if you don't like where GCON is, don't go but complain when you miss out

You will definitely be missed, and I am just hoping to convince you to go, because I was looking forward to speaking to you again this summer. It will just have to wait until 2024, I guess!
