Iowa is not the problem it's a symptom. I have been polite not wanting to hurt feeling. And I am not talking about cliques there will always be that. You have a growing group that believe there is an inner circle that controls everything and the rest of us are here for the ride. If thats the case then fine, say it. DOn't pretend this is a community. The other group don't feel part of the community, thats why we meet on Facebook and Youtube and why others have started their own boards. This rift will eventually hurt sells. It always works that way. Someone needs to get to work on fixing the crack that is forming.

Galacticon has been losing its identity for years now and by making it APART of the TNT Hall weekend - it has totally lost its identity.
Legendscon 1 - next July, I'm looking forward to Galacticon 2024.
GALACTICON should never be an afterthought, it should be THE event.

@kevinb yeah, I agree with online…I always felt like it was an afterthought but I understand why ppl like it.
Plus, turning to a fighting card game to be released by a person that left online a mess in the first place is just asking for problems.
It took years for 2113-2114 to get colored and put online… by the time online is up to 2119, my grandkids will be in high school and I will be in an old folks home.
I do wish that the GWF side received more attention… that is the game I fell in love with

I couldnt believe when I heard the name.It took years for 2113-2114 to get colored and put online… by the time online is up to 2119, my grandkids will be in high school and I will be in an old folks home. Agreed!I do wish that the GWF side received more attention… that is the game I fell in love with 110% AGREE!!! Which is why I keep asking if Tom is still in charge or just a figurehead of Melesky games

Personally, as a guy that can only do one of these events per year due to my work, not to mention finances, I'm Super Stoked about this idea. A chance to do both things I love at one time. Hall of Fame that I fully support and Galacticon to see some friends that I don't get to see much any more when I go to the Hall of Fame. Being from the West Coast, it is always expensive to fly out East. Its nice to do this every once in awhile, not always, but this should be good. Maybe a good compromise would be to add Wed OR Mon to the weekend, that way at least one full day could be dedicated to Galacticon without any Hall of Fame events going on. If I'm not mistaken, there is nothing that happens on Sunday during the Hall of Fame, maybe that day would be dedicated fully to Galacticon and people could fly back on Monday? Like Barry said, there is a bit of downtime of 4-5 hours at a time where some good tournaments could take place when nothing is happening for the HOF.

We do realize that he is in Arizona and that other people are in charge. I have never complained about the service or about the game, however, things do seem to be slipping. There is a lot of grumblings about different things. The Iowa thing is just the tip of the current iceberg. Galacticon has always been a group within itself. It was always about us the promoters. It seems that we are losing that. It seems to be more about the wrestlers than the game. I understand Tom is getting older and he has other careers and he is in Arizona. None of us is disputing that. Most of us are not complaining about the guests that we get to hear from or the news we get. What a lot of us are not happy about is that it has seemingly shifted from the promoters to the wrestlers. We are not going to get the time we usually get to about our promotions and how we play the game and the house rules we get and trade or sell boots. All of that was a common theme. Now us in cyber land had to wait to see what was left over and get what we can, but it was fun and a treasure hunt. It seems that we have had to go to other areas for that. Facebook and Youtube seems to be the places for us to chat openly about our feds. I know that things have changed. I don't mind waiting extra for the mailings, but I do miss where some openly talk and not have to worry about being chastized or talk down too. I don't know what the problem is, but there is a growing problem between the company and the players. It's been this way since the last Galacticon. The main issue I have heard is a lot of feel that we are not being listened to and that only the top eschalon are making all the decisions. I'll be honest, when I first started coming on Zoom it was nice when we broke into groups and we sat around and talked wrestling. Things have tightened up and not many of us get to chat with openly. Again, its not the idea place for meetings with so many, but there are some that feel the upper members of the game have taken over and left us out. I'll be honest. I know how it's going to be and I register just for the cards and to listen to the guests as I am playing another game. I might pop on and chat in the chat to say hi. It's ashamed that things seem to be changing in ways that some don't like it and others do, but it is. Down the road it may not be beneficial to the game. This year, many feel, Galacticon is going to be lost in the hoopla of the Hall of Fame. While it may make since to some others feel the loss of our own identity. I hope in future Galacticons, you will keep this in mind. Since I am the guy that plans out the virtual get togethers I would be interested to hear more about how they can be improved to have a better experience for everyone. In the past the feedback I was getting was that folks liked having the special wrestling guest and liked the convention exclusive cards, so thats why those have continued. We have kept the zoom room open for discussion during tournaments and usually after the con many of us hang out for a while chatting. However, if folks do want the opportunity to have some smaller breakout groups during parts of the con, I can certainly do that again. I do know with the one open room that the discussion does get dominated by a few vocal folks. Perhaps its time for a survey ahead of the Perennial so we can make sure its the best experience for the most people. Sure ultimately a few of us have to make the decisions, but none of us want that at the expense of what the rest of the community really want.

I understand what your saying and I won't speak for anyone else and won't expose anyone else to what they have told me. That's for them, as the fellow said on Gunsmoke "I'm not an informer." I think surveys are a good start. As for me, I don't care one way or the other. I listen to learn and when something that does not pertain to my interest comes about I am usually watching something or playing a game. I am just telling you that there is a growing problem out here. I don't know how to fix it or even if it can. You have done a wonderful job planning things, but everything boils down to the fact that some feel that only a few are making the decisions for the whole.

Like Barry said, there is a bit of downtime of 4-5 hours at a time where some good tournaments could take place when nothing is happening for the HOF. This here is the reason why I suggested the TNT HOF weekend as the GalactiCon spot for 2023. Given the relationship that Filsinger Games has had with the TNT HOF in the past 3 years, I know more folks have been interested in attending one of these weekends and would have a tough time choosing between that and GalactiCon. Combining GalactiCon with another event is not going to be a regular thing, but could certainly happen again if the situation made sense, like it did to myself and others for next year. I do know some others have some trepidation based on the past experience in Cleveland in 2015. Believe me I have learned a lot since then and have tried to address the issues with that experience in planning for Waterloo. Those of us running the GalactiCon portion of the weekend are just running that event and not the overall convention. Also GalactiCon has its own dedicated room and is not mixed in with the rest of the Hall of Fame activities. We will schedule things so that GalactiCon attendees can attend the other HOF activities, but you will not be required to pay for any events you do not want to attend. All Access Pass holders for the HOF can attend GalactiCon for free, but if you just want to attend the GalactiCon specific events and not the IPW wrestling show or TNT banquet that is fine, there will separate tickets for GalactiCon Only attendees. We have a few other ideas of things that will enhance the GalactiCon experience that we would not be able to do at a regular GalactiCon, which will make it a unique event. I do realize that despite the best efforts of myself and the rest of the team that will be working on GalactiCon 2023, that the event will not be everyone's cup of tea to attend. We will still have the virtual part of the con, and in 2024 we will have GCon as a stand alone event in Jamestown/Buffalo. I hope that everyone will atleast enjoy those options if they do not want to join us in Waterloo.

What happened to the good ol' days of GalactioCon when Tom was there in person to talk excitedly about the game's past, present, and futcure and not virtually? I long for the old days when Tom would be there live and in color. And why Iowa of all places? That seems out of my range as I live in NYC. Well, that's just my two cents.... Is Tom in control of FG anymore or has he relegated positions to different people? Please divulge as I don't pay much attention to the signings and new game offers. Why Iowa? - blame the field of dreams "If you build it, they will come" ghost. He must have moved onto the hall of fame after he was done with the baseball field...hmm now that I think of it who would not want to come and see wrestlers of the past in their prime wrestle. Wooah Field of Dreams sequel - Mat of Dreams. Book it Hollywood! Yea but they were prejudiced against Ty Cobb nobody wanted to play with him.
