Well I won't argue there as I really like Ilio.
Oh this one is tough......I think the Headlock is a bit better though.

Well, it was bound to happen at some point... Think it was a decent run until this year's first DQ decision.
Gotta pick Strangler Ed... Once he gets his opponent down, it becomes his match to lose.

Excellent action over the last few matches, save for the quick losses suffered by Don Muraco and Antonino Rocca. Best bouts for me were Henry vs. Koloff and DBS vs. Costello. I'm going with Ed Lewis over Doctor X.

βStranglerβ Ed Lewis (21) v. Dr. X (44)
Dr. X shares his views with officiating with Morgan Dollar before the match and the official is anything but impressed. Counter to open but X manages to get the best of it with a piledriver counter followed by a blow from the top of the buckles. X cannot get a submission with a standing surfboard (R7/P2) but the move does some damage to his foeβs upper body. X continues to work the upper body with full nelsons and another surfboard. A series of forearms smashes down Lewis and X hooks the leg for a one count only (R9/P3). X scales the corner for a deathjump cross body that flattens Lewis but can only get a one count from Dollar (R8/P4). The fans want Lewis to get something going and he manages to reverse a whip to the corner but when he charges in X meets with a running lariat! X controls with forearms and a leg drop. A second leg drop misses and Lewis finally has an opening. Neck yokes punish X as does double wristlocks and grapevine and throws. X attempts a whip to the corner but it is reversed and Lewis lands a kick. A double wristlock forces X to the floor. Lewis comes out for an incredible forearm exchange which Dr. Mike Lano captures up close. Back in the ring, X with a clothesline off the top. It is all Doctor X. Even a headlock takeover looks overwhelming to Lewis. Leg drop misses. Lewis with a neck yoke to slow the attack. X is tossed into the corner. CRACK SKULLS! Both are down. Lewis is up first. X gets caught with a back elbow. Another. Whip to the corner . . . X counters with knees to the chest. Lewis quickly regains his composure and uses jackknife arm scissors to contain X. Neck yoke again. Lewis sends X into the ropes . . . Inside cradle 1, 2, 3 (R5/P5). Huge win for X.
Two upsets in a row! The next one should be fun...

Dr X delivered an exceptional performance by not allowing Lewis to get him into position for that dreaded Strangler's Headlock... And then capitalizing on every opportunity that presented itself... Impressive!
There's no denying Sarge's toughness, but I think Pepper grabs the victory.
