yeah it's a lot easier the older wrestlers you use.

Based on several recent remarks, I think this is a pertinent question... How do you view your fed(s)? Shoot or Work?I treat all of my feds as a 100% work... So, the fun (for me) is mainly derived from trying to interpret why the bookers (aka the dice) made the choices that they did during each card. Kayfabe baby! No one is smartened up in my world, only the boys in the back know if it's a work or shoot. Only the boys know if there is real heat backstage between guys or if there isn't. The general public isn't allowed behind the curtain lol

Titles- I use three, but really that feels like two.
I have a World Champion, but this is someone who dips in and out of the territory from time to time, and exists outside of my main fed. Other than that, I have a Regional champ and Tag Team Champs.
Also, my fed is kayfabe governed. It's presented as real to the fans, although the storylines are often off the wall stuff. It's easier when your timeline hovers between 1983 and 1985.
Great thread, thank you for this.

It's a shoot, in that nothing is predetermined. But...in my head at least, as I imagine the moves and matches, they wrestle the "worked" style we all know and love.

I prefer to do shoot and let the dice dictate everything. The only time I may ignore, change, or re-roll, is if I keep on getting the same result. Such as using the cards in the Ringside personnel set. Gorilla can only tell The Brain to "stop it" so many times in a show. Lol
Also, the shoot path makes it feel like anyone can be a winner. Like in the Fire Pro Wrestling video games.

Interesting stuff...
My thoughts on the various things discussed here:
RE: Passage of Time - I don't like using actual dates. I use years (Year 1, Year 2, etc.) , and have a certain number of cards per year.
RE: Titles - I generally treat my "secondary" titles as major deals as well, so it makes more sense that people would be fighting over them. I don't like to use meaningless titles, but if there is a clear division on the roster, say for instance Women or Jr. Heavyweights, they can have their own title and as long as it's treated like a big deal, I don't see anything wrong with that. It's when you start getting into all the silly titles that obviously aren't necessary and are just filling space where it starts to erode at the believability of the presentation.
RE: Rankings - Wins/Losses are good enough for me. I'm playing the match maker, so they're only useful as a suggestive tool anyway.
RE: Work or Shoot - As far as anyone knows, it's a shoot. Nothing is predetermined, and I don't "plan ahead" because the dice ultimately dictate what happens. If I wanted to write wrestling fan fiction, this certainly isn't the best tool for it.

If I wanted to write wrestling fan fiction, this certainly isn't the best tool for it. Does anyone gamify double crosses or character turns? I had an odd couple tag team from two singles wrestlers (Moxley/Danielson) and toyed with the idea of a post match roll of 2 or 12 would signify the breakup and then coin flipping who attacks who. They ended up going on a crazy tear through the division and getting the tag belts and the split felt natural after losing the belt in the rematch.

While clearly I do let the dice do most of the booking, there is some planning behind it like things such as turns especially if the dice give you the idea beforehand.

I know this a LOW thread, but these days I mostly play my Indy feds (with occasional breaks for the new COTG releases, I will get back to LOW someday) so hopefully it is OK for me to answer these questions in regards to my Indy feds. Unless it is a match in which time is a factor (such as iron man match,) I don't keep track of how long my matches last. For the overall passage of time for my fed, I go by Years (Year 1, Year 2, etc) with a predetermined number of shows per month and per year. Some feds have more shows than others. For example, my ROV and VLW feds run weekly on TV and my VWTV feds run monthly on streaming at VWTV.com (but of course not really so if you go to VWTV.com and see something weird then that has nothing to do with me.) for titles, most of my Indy feds are based on real life Indy feds (either past or present) and I usually use about the same amount of titles as the real world feds. However, I do not base all of my rosters on current rosters of the actual feds. I don't do rankings but I notice when a wrestler or tag team is winning and often give them a title shot as a result. I consider my feds to be real and not predetermined outcomes in regards to competition. Sometimes I have tentative plans for an angle but the dice have forced me to modify my plans many times.
