I use and create tons of bootlegs, but I'm fairly picky about which bootlegs I use. I've got two absolute rules that I follow in choosing my bootlegs: If they don't have art (and photos from the internet do not count as art...) I won't touch 'em, and if they don't follow the posted card creation guidelines to the best of their ability, I won't touch 'em. The first thing is really more of a personal hang-up, but it also shows that the person creating the card is serious about it if they did more than just find some "free" image from the internet to slap on the front of it...the 2nd thing is the most important though, because it shows that SOME effort was made to make sure they fit in with the default cards. Not every bootleg that follows the guidelines is going to be a great representation of the wrestler, but at least you're not going to get lazily or hastily or sloppily thrown together cards that do things like throw choices wherever they want or stick choice D and E on level 2 moves, etc. That sort of thing is one of the most commonly cited reasons why people can be iffy about bootlegs...and there's a WHOLE lot of that out there, and it never ceases to amaze me when people recommend that sort of thing...but c'est la vie I guess, I know what I'm looking for, and those ain't it. I get that some small things like sticking a 'move - 2 (ch B)' between two more level 2 moves instead of after them can slip through on a card here or there, or maybe it's a mechanic choice that gives them an extra (lv) that helps make the card unique, and in those fairly rare cases I'll let it slide.
The inability to use bootlegs is also why I'll never seriously consider CotGOnline. It's not a viable platform for me if it's going to curtail a part of the game that I find incredibly satisfying and enjoyable. [/rant]

Bootleg cards: back when there weren't like 1000 official cards for COTG and Legends I made and used a lot of them. Now I do so very sparingly but there are some really great ones out there. I tend to collect them more than use them, I suppose. I am continually impressed with the work some of our friends here are putting out with top notch stats and commissioning amazing art.

Regarding bootlegs:
In my Indy feds, I only use the bootlegs that I helped create such as the CWFH cards I do with Grant and the cards such as Jacob Fatu, Alex Shelley, and PAC that I wrote the stats for. When I get the chance, there are a couple other big names I want to do bootlegs for later this year to add to my Indy feds.
In my LOW fed, I only occasionally use bootlegs as special attractions:
I donβt use any bootlegs in my COTG feds.

Chad and Stu pointed to me this thread and I'm glad they did, as this is some great discussion!
On the topic of bootlegs, I've made a few over the years. In the COTG days, I used them a good amount, more so in my CPC as opposed to my GWF, as many of the characters (nGo, SWA guys, and a few others) were depicted as not fitting the GWF style or mode.
On the next episode of Uncharted Territory (dropping most likely on Friday), I talk about how I used some bootlegs in my Legends fed (USWA). But overall, I have avoided using bootlegs because A) we have so many great names officially signed and it's hard to narrow down from those choices whom to use, and B) I like the challenge of having a limited number of officially-signed wrestlers from whom to choose and to use in my fed.

I have a small number of LOW bootlegs I rarely use due to the number of official LOW names. When I do use them, it is more for special attractions. Like for example, I had the Undertaker vs Bobo Brazil in a coffin match. This was from a story line I had were Mr. Fuji (ex 6) and his stable were trying to get the Championship from Brazil.

Does anyone have an automated double elimination tournament bracket thing? I'm thinking I'll do a 16 man double elimination tournament sometime down the line.

Thanks for this! I could have used this last year for my NWA Champ and US Champ tourneys.

For my feds I run them by Seasons. Each month of that Season has 4 TV tapings and one PPV to represent the end of said month. And I also run two House Show circuits labaled A and B and there are two house shows each week. This keeps wrestlers who are not in storylines competitive since I use variation on the Pick 6 Points System ROH used. Wrestlers that win matches gain points which put you in different rankings based on number of points. Wrestlers with 6 points can challenge a champion or champions when it comes to the tag division. If you lose a match you lose a point. Simple stuff since I don't want a ton of record keeping on rankings and such.
I have a TON of belts in my Legends fed given I use the titles Maple Leaf Wrestling used throughout the years in their own history and then a few that may have been used during the years WWF started booking shows in the territory. My ROH Canada fed uses the standard belts ROH have in place.
I run my feds like a worked shoot. So the dice represent the POWERS THAT BE who can interfere with how things should go. Some things that get booked and go as planned were booked. Things that don't could be considered last minute changes or wrestlers going into business for themselves which has an effect on their morale with the company and with other wrestlers would could affect who they will work with and who they will not. Or could affect whether they will work for the territory/company again in the future.
At the end of the Season I keep track of wrestlers contracts and how many months they stay on. Then I do a free agent and renewing of contracts session that lets me see who leaves and who stays and for how long and if there are any conditions. Also if there are free agents up for hire and whether they want a long or short term contract. Also free agents may pop in for a couple shows and go on their way. This is all done by using a solo rpg "Oracle" system of rolling dice and getting a STRONG YES, YES, YES BUT, MAYBE, MAYBE BUT, NO BUT, NO, STRONG NO and other nuances.

Trying to get the jump on Gunslinger with this post. LOL! What wrestlers do you think are particularly well laid out? From a statistics AND strategic perspective? For example... Jim Londos is an absolute master at wearing down his opponents during those matches that last a little longer than usual... The PIN 4(1) rating... Add 1 moves on L2O and L3O... Along with that finisher mechanic... I think it's one of the most cleverly laid out cards in the game... It really captures his style in a unique way.
