The Valiants finished off Too Cool when Jimmy pinned Christopher after an atomic drop.
Bob Backlund (with Arnold Skaaland) squashed Greg Valentine (with Jimmy Hart) following the Crossface Chicken Wing. This was pretty much all Backlund as every time Valentine got on offense, Backlund would just reverse him. He countered a whip into the ropes into a near fall before clamping on the Chicken Wing for the submission. After the match, Buddy Rogers came out and applauded Backlund but said it was time for him to take on a real practitioner of the figure four.
(Backlund 0 fatigue, Valentine 3 fatigue)

There was a ref bump, and Backlund pinned Valentine. The groggy ref made the count, but then Valentine told him that he had pinned Backlund instead of the other way around and the concussed ref agreed and raised Valentine's arm. The confusion led to a rematch, but it was a neat twist on the ref bump ending. |

Backlund continues to deliver... His upcoming match against the (original) Nature Boy should be a technical masterpiece. Truth!

Ted DiBiase announced that Virgil would win this match in exactly ten moves.
Virgil pinned Jake Milliman with the Russian Leg Sweep in exactly ten moves. DiBiase chortled about the money he won betting Virgil would do just that.
Bob Backlund (with Arnold Skaaland) overcame a bloody Buddy Rogers (with Wild Red Berry) with the Crossface Chicken Wing. This was a battle as it went back and forth. Backlund took the advantage early and looked like he would steamroll his way to a win. He made a mistake trying to go for his Rolling Backbridge though as Rogers countered into a piledriver. Rogers might have won it with the Figure Four Grapevine but the referee noticed Berry was holding Rogers hands for additional support. Backlund then came roaring back with the Atomic Drop before clamping on the Chicken Wing as Rogers was unable to continue.
(Backlund 3 fatigue) (Rogers 6 fatigue, bleeding, two referee warnings)
Berry challenged Backlund and Skaaland to face him and Rogers with Gorilla Monsoon in their corner. Skaaland accepted and said they would not be alone either.
