Card 9 Saturday, September 5th, 1987 Frank Erwin Center- Austin, TX In the opener, Greg Valentine and Adrian Adonis with Jimmy Hart, took on Don Kernodle and Danny Spivey. This was a lively opening match with a lot of tags and back and forth action. It ended when a pin save attempt from Spivey turned into all out brawl between the combatants, leading to a double disqualification! Rematch anyone? This match will air of a future episode of AWF Power Pro Wrestling
Next saw Nord the Barbarian taking on George South. Nord got a jump on his opponent, attacking him during the opening introduction by Gary Michael Capetta, getting the squash win in short order
The 3rd match on the card saw Jimmy Hart hit the ring with Masked Superstar in tow for another $35,000 challenge. This time Jerry Lynn answered the call. He grabbed the mic and said, having read the fine print, he would start off in the COBRA HOLD! He did so and was able to move close enough to the rope the slide his leg under and trigger the official to break the hold. He then went on to surprise the Olympian with his technical ability and score a pinfall victory! He grabbed the briefcase, tossing handfuls to to the fans on the way to the back. Jimmy hart absolutely berated Masked Superstar for losing his money, going so far as to slap the big man! Masked Superstar snapped and bodyslamed the manager to the delight of the crowd! This match will air on a future episode of AWF Championship Wrestling on ESPNNext we saw Dancin' Stevie Richards take on Keith Steinborn. The dancing machine didn't look too concerned about his impending dance off with Disco Inferno, getting the win via the STEVIE KICK In our semi-main event, Barry Windham sought revenge from Ace Orton's repeated use of his cast as a weapon in a recent tag team match. The native Texan got a massive pop from the crowd and went to work showcasing his extensive skills, beating Ace from pillar to post as the crowd went wild. Then Rowdy Roddy Piper attempted a run in to save his friend, but was dumped out of the ring by Windham, which was followed by a SWEETWATER SLAM and the 1-2-3 soon after! Piper and Ace spewed even more venom as usual as they went to the back to the taunts of the crowd! In the Main Event, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams teamed with Mike Rotunda to take on Abdullah the Butcher with Jim Cornette and a Mystery partner. The babyfaces came to the ring first followed by Cornette and Abdhulah. The manager took the mic and announced without further ado! the mystery partner! From Death Valley, California weighting in at 313 pounds, OX BAKER!! Baker was an awesome and intimidating sight, especially standing next to the Sudanese monster. Dr. Death looked much more like himself as he and Rotunda made a good team, tagging each other in early and often using double teams when there was an opening. Both Abdullah and Baker were impressive in moments but clearly didn't have a lot of experience together. As Williams and Rotunda took the upper hand Cornette pulled what looked like a bucket out from under the ring filled with some kind of liquid....He was poised to strike when suddenly Masked Superstar came to the ring and shoved Cornette down and guarded the bucket! In the commotion both Baker and Abdulah were distracted, and Dr. Death hit a football tackle on Ox then covered him for the pin! The heels were chased to the back and the fans went home happy. This match will air on a future episode of AWF Championship Wrestling on ESPN

Highlights from AWF Championship Wrestling on ESPN airing Thursday, September 10th and 17th, 1987
We heard from Gordon Solie hyping up an upcoming AWF World Television title defense by Curt Henning against Dynamite Kid! Curt Henning joined Solie and was clearly more serious that he has been in recent weeks. He pointed at the camera at told Dynamite Kid he wasn't in Liverpool or wherever anymore. He also called Dynamite a pip-squeak. Solie then brought up how impressive Dynamite has looked in recent weeks since joining the AWF. Henning agreed but said "He may be impressive, but I'm PERFECT!"
Next it was time for the long awaited dance off between Disco Inferno and Dancin' Stevie Richards! Disco Inferno confidently kicks off the dance-off, showcasing his moves with style and finesse. However, as the routine progresses, his performance begins to lose its luster, lacking the same energy and creativity as anticipated. Dancin' Stevie Richards takes the stage next, exploding with enthusiasm and captivating the audience with his smooth and electrifying dance moves. The crowd rallies behind him, cheering and applauding his impressive display of skill. As Richards concludes his flawless routine, the crowd erupts into thunderous applause, clearly impressed by his mastery of the art. In a fit of frustration and jealousy, Disco sneakily jumps out onto the arena floor and grabs the ringside bell..he slowly walks back into the ring and whallops Stevie over the head! Disco Inferno stands over his fallen adversary with a sinister grin on his face as the segment ends...
We next heard from Barry Windham. The babyface was confident and passionate as he railed against villains like Ace Bob Orton and Rowdy Roddy Piper, calling them a stain on the sport of professional wrestling. Piper then appeared and stood nose to nose with Windham, insulting his appearance and demeanor as only the Rowdy one can. The two didn't come to blows but agreed to settle their differences in the ring. Hacksaw Jim Duggan then came out and, upon putting his hand on Piper's shoulder, was socked in the mouth as the scene devolved into chaos!
We got a backstage interview with Masked Superstar, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, and Mike Rotunda. They put each other over, touting the others amateur wrestling background. They announced the good guys in wrestling had to stick together, and henceforth would be known as VARISTY CLUB!
Lastly, AWF World Television Champion Curt Henning defended his title against Dynamite Kid. This was a great match as expected, the champion was on the top of him game, nearly putting the challenger away on several occasions. Dynamite battled back however and started taking control of the match when it reached the 15 minute time limit! Will we see a rematch?!?

Card 10 Saturday, September 19th, 1987 Tulsa Assembly Center, Tulsa, OK Opening the show we heard from AWF Commissioner Teddy Long. He hyped up tonight's AWF World Tag Team Title match between the Road Warriors and Midnight Express. He said to make sure tonight's match had a definitive winner, it will be NO DISQUALIFICATION NO COUNT OUT. This segment will air on a future episode of AWF Championship Wrestling on ESPNIn the opener, Hillbilly Jim outlasted Dark PatriotNext, Danny Doring took on Koko B Ware. Koko had more trouble than one would think in this one, though he ended up winning via countout. Marty Jannetty and Manny Fernandez squashed the Mulkey Brothers Next hostilities were renewed as Disco Inferno took on Sam Houston. Disco came to the ring without dancing and with the ringside bell still in hand and a sneer on his face. He took out his frustrations on Sam Houston, getting the pinfall victory. He threatened Sam with the bell after the match, but the babyface was able to escape. This match will air on a future episode of AWF Power Pro WrestlingIn the Semi-Main event, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper took on "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Piper had a surprise though as AWF World Champion Sgt. Slaughter joined him at ringside! This was a good match, with both men showcasing their offensive moves. It looked like Piper was going to get the win when he slapped on the SLEEPER HOLD, but Hacksaw was able to wiggle out. Piper then tossed him out of the ring and, when Slaughter decided to get involved, Magnum T.A. ran out to even the odds! A brawl broke out and Piper nailed Hacksaw with a chair to get himself disqualified! Slaughter then was caught alone in the ring with Magnum TA, with the babyface nailing a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX on the stunned champion! In the commotion, referee Jim Molineaux took a big bump and was carted out... This match will air on a future episode of AWF Power Pro WrestlingIn the main event, AWF World Tag Team Champion Road Warriors hit the ring first to a huge pop. They posed in opposing corners when suddenly Bill Alphoso came down to the ring. He took the mic and said that because of the injury to Jim Molineaux, he had agreed to be the emergency referee for the main event, but promised to call it RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE BABY. The Road Warriors looked wary but not overly concerned. Then the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette were introduced, but as they started walking to the ring, Rob Van Dam and Sabu appeared behind them with steel chairs in hand! They smashed the challengers, laying them out and chasing off Cornette. Van Dam and Sabu then jumped in the ring, with Alphonso indicating to start the match! The Road Warriors charged ahead, so I guess we're getting a "card subject to change" moment?!? This match absolutely tore the house down, becoming a FIVE STAR MATCH in the process. Alphonso did absolutely everything he could to favor the challengers, who were also free to do whatever they wanted as this was a No DQ/No count out match anyway. The Road Warriors seemed to overcome every obstacle and it's hard to convey how many twists and near falls this match had. Alphonso eventually got physically involved, with Hawk knocking him out, leaving no referee whatsoever! This ended up being fortuitous as Sabu hit several Arabian facebusters soon after, which should have ended the match. Alphonso eventually came to, and after even more back and forth with near falls galore, the Road Warriors hit a DOOMSDAY DEVICE on RVD. Animal made the pin and Hawk had to essentially threaten Alphonso's life to get him to count a VERY slow 1-2-3 for the Road Warriors to retain the titles. They bodyslamed Alphonso again for good measure to end the show. But what about the Midnight Express? This match will air on a future episode of AWF Championship Wrestling on ESPN

Dynamite Kid had a sit down interview Lance Russell at Dynamite's home, where it was announced he would receive a rematch for the AWF World Television Title against Curt Henning at FRIGHT NIGHT on October 25th, this time with no time limit. Dynamite passionately spoke about this opportunity and put over all the outstanding wrestling in the AWF.
Stevie Richards pinned S.D. Jones, afterwich Disco Inferno slowly walked to the ring, still with the ringside bell in hand. Stevie backpedaled, grabbing a mic and saying "hey Disco we can work this out man!" Disco lunged at him with the bell and Stevie took off through the crowd.
Next we see a recap where Rob Van Damn and Sabu, with Bill Alphonso, are heading back to their car after the last big arena show in Tulsa. As they turned the corner they were ambushed by the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette! The Express and Cornette cleaned house, with Dennis Condrey slamming Sabu up against the car! Cornette spat on Alphonso and made it clear in no uncertain terms to stay out of the Midnight's business if they know what's good for them!
Finally we see Gordon Solie speak with Magnum T.A. ringside after a squash match. Magnum spoke on several topics. First, he put over the AWF and all the great athletes in the company, but then he mentioned he felt there needed to be stronger leadership from management, citing the chaos in the main event in Tulsa as just the latest example. He said professional wrestling is the greatest SPORT in the world, and like any SPORT there has to be rules. He then turned his attention to Sgt. Slaughter, who has been been at the forefront of this breakdown for quite a while. Magnum feels he's the one to lead the charge in keeping this sport respectable, and he's going to start by CHALLENGING SGT. SLAUGHTER FOR THE AWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AT FRIGHT NIGHT to the delight of the crowd. Will the champion accept?

However, he knows he still must face his fear head on, and to do so he is challenging Abdullah the Butcher to a match at Fright Night. Abdulah's American spokesperson Jim Cornette then appeared with a wide grin on his face. He accepted the challenge, noting it was appropriate the match would take place at an event called Fright Night, promising Dr. Death would not be up to the task of facing the fearsome Sudanese. He upped the ante, offering to make it a DOG COLLAR MATCH, then questioning Dr. Death's toughness and fortitude. Dr. Death looked a bit pensive, but accepted the challenge...
