Tough break tonight. Almost came back. At least they made it to game 7 in second round. Something to build off of. Wings missed the playoffs again.

Tough break tonight. Almost came back. At least they made it to game 7 in second round. Something to build off of. Wings missed the playoffs again. Sounds like the Canucks only showed up for the first and last ten minutes of the game. Had they played the full 60 they may have pulled out the win. The Oilers wanted it more though in the end. After they lost Game Five there seemed to be a real sense of desperation with Edmonton and they put their big boy pants on the last two games for the much deserved series win. Overall I still consider this season a massive success. Back in October I said that if the Canucks made the playoffs I would be happy. Not only did they make it to the postseason but they were one win away from the conference finals. That's quite a leap forward for a team that's missed the playoffs 7 of the last 8 seasons. There's still some work to do though on building their roster to championship caliber but the Canucks appear to be heading in the right direction. Like Richard Dreyfuss told Bill Murray in What About Bob?: "It's all about taking baby steps." Thank you to on_the_edge, TTX and Matt for your support this postseason. I greatly appreciate it. Looking forward to next season. GO CANUCKS GO!

I'm hoping they can build up on this for next season.

Congratulations to Canucks coach Rick Tocchet on winning the Jack Adams Award for Coach Of The Year! He managed to take a team that missed the playoffs last year and lead them to a Pacific Division Title. Quite an impressive turnaround.

It is a shame Vancouver could not win the West. It would have led to the furthest between teams in the Cup's history, I think. Edmonton vs Florida will be close as I think the 2nd furthest.

Funny that you should mention this. The distance between Miami and Vancouver came up recently when Inter Miami decided not to bring Lionel Messi along with them for their recent game against the Whitecaps. Miami management cited the long flight to Vancouver followed by a game back home just four days later as the reason. This created quite a commotion here with the fan base. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/lionel-messi-miss-vancouver-whitecaps-1.7215139www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/whitecaps-messi-petition-1.7219050What I don't understand is why the MLS schedule-makers would send them all the way to the other side of the continent just for the one game. Why not schedule two additional road games in Seattle and Portland within the next week to make the long trip worthwhile instead of sending them back to South Florida so quickly? Messi may still not have played as he reportedly hates playing on artificial turf which is what they have at B.C. Place (They are replacing it with natural grass for the World Cup games we're getting in 2026) It really sucks for the fans who payed top dollar hoping to see him play. If the Whitecaps hadn't jacked up ticket prices so high for the the game their likely wouldn't have been so much anger.

Yes I remember hearing about that on the local news. It is like NBA teams sit stars but far worse.

A bit surprised to read this news last night as it was reported both sides were miles apart in negotiations. Hronek would have only been an RFA on July 1st but since offer sheets are rare I figured this matter would end up going to arbitration. www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/40381329/vancouver-canucks-secure-eight-year-deal-filip-hronekReportedly Hronek was originally seeking $8 million per year which I believe is FAR too much; there's no way he should be making more than Quinn Hughes! Because of what Hronek was seeking money-wise the Canucks were shopping him around but I have to imagine teams balked knowing what it would cost to sign him. My guess is that this reality eventually set in and he realized he needed to drop his asking price. While I feel like this is a bit of an overpay by the Canucks Hronek did have pretty good chemistry with Quinn Hughes on the blueline so I'm glad to see him back. We're probably going to lose two other defencemen to free agency in Nikita Zadorov and Ian Cole so Vancouver probably realized they couldn't lose a third. I just hope they're able to figure out something with Dakota Joshua as he was a good fit up and down the lineup. He's the one pending UFA I don't want to see go. I also hope they make an offer to Tyler Toffoli who was a great fit here with Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller during the latter part of the 2019-2020 season. Toffoli loved his brief time here and was very disappointed when the Canucks didn't offer him a new contract (salary cap reasons). We'll see what happens.🤞

Congratulations to Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks on winning the Norris Trophy last night for best defencemen! He's the first player in franchise history to win the award and hopefully it won't be the last time he receives it.
