Last night's match was a hoot. A scoreless game for most of it. Almost had a goal from a player on Spain on the ground. Then when it looked like it might go to extra time Spain scores. It seemed they had the win there, but Sweden fought back, and Zack Morris subbed in (the Swedish player that got the winning penalty shot against the US by a millimeter) and she headed to another sub who scored. Back to looking like extra time but Spain came back and scored what would be the winning goal.
I want to watch the match tonight, but I cannot stay up to 6 AM for just the kickoff and at least a couple hours after that. Same with the Final on Sunday morning. I might stay up and watch the consolation game on Saturday morning.
If you do not believe in human cloning, look at the Sweden team. I swear a few of them are clones.

Sorry England came up just a bit short. Still a good run and something to build on.
Congrats to Spain. But sad news as the father of Olga Carmona, the woman who scored the lone gone in the final, passed away. Not sure if before or after the game but that just sucks. The mother of one of Olga's friends passed away recently and Olga had her name on her undershirt that she revealed after scoring the goal. Now her father passes. Talk about an up and down couple weeks for her.

Getting that close and coming up short sucks. The thing to focus on is a lot of teams would have loved to been that close. The Summer Olympics are next year and England will be easily in the running for a medal and might get the gold. Then only three years after that it is WWC time again. |
