I am SO behind in creating this thread. But here it is. I am enjoying the Cup so far even if only seen a little bit of it. I did catch the first game from start to finish. Got to see New Zealand make history with their goal and eventual win, the first for the ladies in World Cup history. Awesome moment. Caught most of the second half of Nigeria vs Canada. Some good action there.
Tonight I am looking forward to the US finally beating Vietnam. Payback that has been like 60+ years in the making lol. But yea, first step on their way to making history. No country has won three cups in a row, men or women. Lets go U S A...U S A...U S A! #SHEPEAT

Sophia Smith has us up 2-0 at halftime. I am surprised she has time to score goals between all the commercials she has done. I actually like her commercials. She is a cutie and could have a future in TV or movies. I mean once her soccer career is over. Keep it up USA.

I missed what happened but with US down 1-0 to Netherland and setting up for a US corner kick there was an incident between Lindsey Horan and a Netherland player. The official called them over and talked to them. The Netherland player went back to line up and was smiling and seemed to be joking with her teammates. I said, "we need to score now" and that is what happened. To top it off it was Lindsey who headed the ball in to tie the match. Suddenly the Netherland player was not smiling. KARMA!
As I was typing this up, I thought we scored again but offsides was called. Correctly by the way.

As we enter the knockout rounds I have mixed feelings about the tourney so far. On one hand I have seen some great football and history. Like countries first goals ever in the tournament and first wins like Morocco. It has been a joy what little I have been able to watch. On the other hand there is the US. I do not want them to lose but lately based on their attitude I would not feel as bad if they do. Sadly the success has started to go to the heads of some. I just hope they can get focused and play like they are capable of. Otherwise the hopes of a #Shepeat will have to wait at least another eight years for someone and even longer for the US.

I am with you on the idea that because of the US woman's attitude I am hoping somebody upsets them to knock them out of the tournament. I have been cheering for Colombia, as my girlfriend is Colombian.

I kind of like Jamacia but now whoever wins that matchup I can be happy for them. I am also rooting for Morocco, South Africa and the one I have liked since 2015, Japan.

In the games I've had the chance to watch, I've been impressed by Japan, England, and the Netherlands. Japan in particular have looked really hard to beat. They're, what, +10 on the goal differential so far?

Well the hopes of a #Shepeat are over. This was their best game this Cup but they just could not find the back of the net. They said that Rodman, their best offensive threat today, had been under the weather which is why they subbed her out. A shame because I feel like if healthy she was close to getting us that one goal we would have needed to move on. Just a shame it had to go to a shootout and more so that two of our big stars didn't even get their kick on net. For awhile there I really thought we would win the shootout and move on. Hopefully getting knocked out of the Cup the earliest and US Women's team has will light a fire in them over the next four years so we can win gold at the Olympics and win the Cup in 27.
For now, I am all in on Japan. That is my team to win. Well, more like 90% in as I still like Morocco and Jamaica some as well. But Japan is my main team for the rest of the Cup.
