Where will Shohei Ohtani sign as a free agent?

As much as I'd love to see him sign with the Blue Jays my guess is the Dodgers will get him. He can stay in Southern California, get paid the big bucks and play for a recent World Series Champion that's always looking to contend.

I'm thinking Dodgers almost certainly West but sometimes they surprise you.

I know it's a long shot, but I say he joins his buddy on Team Japan, Lars Nootbaar, with the St. Louis Cardinals!

I'm hoping Uncle Steve lays out the big money and Ohtani makes his way to Queens!

I'm hoping Uncle Steve lays out the big money and Ohtani makes his way to Queens! You don't think he questions that strategy after last year?

I meant to put the Ynakees on the poll as with they are always a viable candiate for any top free agent. However, I don't think Ohtani goes to the Yankees he wants to stay near the West and he wants to go to a winner and the Yankees are coming off a non-playoff 82-80 season (although the Yankees typically do win they are currently not their usual dominating selves.) I think Ohtani goes to either the Dodgers or possibly the Rangers and perhaps Cody Bellinger goes to the Yankees if he leaves the Cubs.

I just know if I am the GM I am signing him to be a hitter with occasional pitching scenarios. I would use him as needed as a pitcher. That means if the bullpen has been used a lot and they need a rest you can use him instead of calling someone up. Same thing, if a starter or two are unavailable due to injuries or if he wants to pitch and stay sharp you use him as a 6th starter to give extra day to all your normal starters. As great as he is at both we have seen how it may be starting to take a toll on him via injury. A high price tag means I want him available most of the season.

Atlanta. If Ohtani wants to have a regular off-season presence, a team that is well stocked for the future is a great place to be.
