Is there any backstory to the Aethran Soldiers? I'm thinking of using M197 in EC as Screw's "handler" so to speak since the new booklet did away with his team with Ricken Prince and I really just need *bodies* in the tag division.

None posted at the moment. Use one of the Soldiers in that role. Wouldn't hurt.

Those two started off feuding at the start of EC - then Ricken Prince teamed up with him when Blood and Jammer were trying to double team him. Not sure how one could be "short" on tag teams: Caelum & Ricken Prince The Mensans The Guardians The Crosscurrents Defiance Paladin Power Dorado Sundown You could also team some of the new EC jobbers together plus the new card that was added to the game to get you to eight teams. You could also do Torpor and the green alien jobber together from PP. When I was first starting my fed way back in my early classics days, I did K.O. Keller and Screw, since they were both P.O.W. alums to get to eight teams.

My other thinking is that depending on who your first single's champ is, I wouldn't want to put the Guardians in that tournament if Morpheus or Omega Of Cetus are the winners. Same with Caelum and Ricken Prince or Keller and Commander Sam, if my singles champ was Caelum or Keller respectively. That's why Torpor and Lao-Ree or, depending on who your singles champ is, Keller and Screw or Keller and Commander Sam might make sense as another tag team to fill the gaps.

While the Soldiers could be used in EC they were released as part of the current COTG line. They were supposed to come out in the 3rd Q, before the EC release, but did not obviously.

I’m curious to read their story. It’s a bit of a mystery about who may have ordered them into the GWF without an active Minister of War, and the Dark Menace apparently no longer pulling the strings.
Considering that a female Aethran soldier is involved, maybe Storm is unofficially calling the shots now, and she made the call (after all, she is still in the GWF).
I’m also wondering if these are new characters, like the Natives were in FTR, who are the beginning to a much bigger story coming in 2140, or if they are nothing like that at all, and just non-essential cards released to make up for quarter 3.
Maybe Tom will talk more about them at the upcoming VCon.

I started my fed months before the new set was even announced. I'm in 2077 and the only tag team introduced in three years has been Wind Runners who didn't win a single match in all of 2076. The new booklet added Ricken & Torin and KO & Sam. They removed Ricken & Screw as Rock Solid. Dorado Sundown leave in 2076 unless they rewrite canon history. Same with Guardians, they disband after Dorado leave. You lose the two strongest tag teams in the promotion and gain a jobber team. I'm desperate for teams for pure varieties sake. Edit: Sorry, quoted the wrong person

Edit: Sorry, quoted the wrong person You understand that you are two years ahead of the Early Classics set that came out, right? This is just the first two years ‘74 & ‘75. If you played with the B&W cards move forward with the game and new teams will come the Estorians and The GameMasters are just around the corner.
