Tonight I took my fried Ofi to see The Bikeriders. After getting the tickets, we picked up some beers in the movie's cantina and then decided not to wait in the long line for food and instead got something to eat afterward.
I am glad we did not wait in the long line at the concession stand as the movie started soon after we took our seats (there were no previews, I am guessing this is just an opening night situation and there will be previews for those who see this movie later.)
The movie is really good. I have seen come critical comparisons to Goodfellas and it is not quite at that level, but it is still very good. Great performances by Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, and James Comer. The movie is based on a 1968 book with the same title and the motorcycle gang in the movies The Vandals is about the real life gang the Chicago Outlaws.
Of the 15 or so movies I have seen this year, this was one of the best.

XI had seen good things about this movie, and it was re-released for a one-time event last night to hype the sequel coming out. I really liked it. They took the whole slasher movie is a metaphor for sex to a new level. The characters were decent, and the suspense was built up nicely. I got a huge shock when I watched the credits. I did not catch that the main actress played two parts. Very cool. Also, did not recognize Brittany Snow but then again it had been a while since I had seen her in anything. It is weird to think she was topless lol. As slasher flicks go, this one had more depth than a lot of them thus the buzz. I am not sure if I will see the sequel as it takes things in a different direction, slightly, but might go see it on discount Tuesday or if it is part of a double feature at the drive in, I will see it there if the other movie is a good one. One thing I like in movies is the small details to try and help develop characters and/or storylines. This movie had it here and there but the best to me was Sunday. If you watch the movie, you will know what I am talking about. A cute little touch and it made me laugh. I liked X when I saw it a couple of years ago, definitely a horror movie I would recommend for horror fans. The prequel Pearl was good too (although I would rate it a little less than X.) I did not know that the sequel MaXXXine was finished and about to get released until I read this post and I will definitely see it at least on streaming. The special preview they showed for MaXXXine after X was powerful and funny. It felt real which helped. I think it will be good if for nothing else than Mia. It will be different than X in a lot of ways but I think the same where it counts.

I hope I can get the network over the air. They air toons on MeTV but it is way too early for me. Heck, I have hardly been to bed a few hours when they come on lol.

I was watching an episode of the original Fantasy Island last night and it was weird. It started off with introducing 3 people who were there for a fantasy. That is unusual as they usually just do 2 but I think they might have done 3 before. The thing is about halfway through the show I realized I had only seen 2 or the 3. In fact, I never saw the third person again after the arrival. I wonder if that is how the original show went. Like they ran out of time and never did her story and forgot or did not bother to reshoot the opening. That or it was edited for rerun but if so, I wonder why they did not edit out the arrival. Just weird.

I was flipping thru channels and thought I caught a commercial for MeTV Cartoons. But it is a non stop ad for Toons coming to that channel. They say "Toons is coming to this channel" which is ironic since that channel was This TV. In the ad they show a short clip from Gertie the Dinosaur which is one of the first cartoons from 1914. They also show a shorter clip from a 1912 cartoon. Plus Bugs first appearance in the Wild Hare. I'm so happy I get the channel. Starts in just a day or so this Tuesday.

Not a fan of the new Mattress Firm commercials even if they are kind of smart. If you have not seen them, they are a play on the "how do you sleep at night" clique. You know, like when a person is a jerk or POS and someone asks how they sleep at night. Well, that is what happens in the commercials and the jerk says, "on a Mattress Firm mattress so I sleep very good". It is a smart play on a famous question, but it makes it look like their customers are jerks. So, I guess you could call it win/lose as opposed to win/win.

I picked up the first 10 Survivor Series on DVD because I wanted to watch them and because they were practically free as I just used my Hilton points to buy it on Amazon. Not one cent was spent, just points. While watching the 91 from Detroit, the one I went to and my first wrestling show live, Gorilla Monsoon made a big mistake. I do not know if he just missed it and maybe it was a sign he was getting old or if he was instructed to play it that way. In one match Shawn Michaels was pinned and got mad at Marty after because Marty accidently hit Shawn with the feet of the guy Marty lifted for a body slam. As Shawn left the ring side due to being pinned Monsoon made it seem Shawn was just leaving his partner and was counted out. Maybe Monsoon had to play it that way to help build toward the eventual breakup but if not he really botched the call on that one. The 1988 Survivor Series contains one of the funniest things I've ever seen; wrestling or otherwise. During the elimination match with all of the tag teams there's a moment where Tully Blanchard tags in, sees one of The Powers Of Pain (I forget which one) standing across the ring from him and quickly hightails it to the corner to tag in Nikolai Volkoff. It makes me laugh every time and it even gets a chuckle out of Jesse Ventura on commentary. The prancing motion Blanchard makes in the process makes it even funnier.

I think I've seen a few done like that but that one is one of the best. I may have done a spot like that in one of my match write ups but can't recall the specifics right now.
