The "Florida Man Or Jersey Guy" segments on Kevin Nash's podcast are pretty funny. Sounds like Kevin has cracked the code. A lot of the Florida Men are transplants from New Jersey. And New York.

While most "only in Florida" stories are about the craziness, and rightfully so, there can be a story about how cool it is to live here. Like mine from a few weeks ago, when I had a couple meals a few days apart. The first one was in front of a large aquarium with not only fish but sharks. I am disappointed that I did not have my phone ready when a hammerhead and a sawfish swam by each other. I was wondering if they were discussing what to build together. Then for my other meal I ate at the world's largest White Castle. Something you can only do in Florida.

Crazy story. Even crazier when you find out situations like this are not an uncommon occurrence. Hopefully the homeowner is able to replace her driveway ASAP and complete the sale of her home.

I have enjoyed reading these stories about Florida.
With my contract situation at work now settled, I am going to be able to start traveling domestically a little once again and for the first time in almost 3 1/2 decades it looks like I will be in Florida this March when we have a 3-day weekend at work.
I will be in Tampa Bay where I plan to go to Major League Wrestling's War Chamber show (tickets go on sale on Friday,) go to a Blue Jays vs Rays game, tour Raymond James Stadium (provided they have a Friday or Saturday tour which according to the stadium's website they sometimes do but those tours are not available to book until the previous week,) check out Ybor City, and I am not sure what else yet. I believe I will be flying in early that Friday morning (red eye flight) and leaving late that Sunday night but so far I have only purchased the return flight home (I will secure the flight there on Pay Day next week when my new raise kicks in.)

When in Ybor City I would recommend eating at Columbia. It is Florida's oldest restaurant dating to 1905 and supposedly the world's largest Spanish restaurant. Really good food just a tad pricey but not too overpriced. You may have to make a reservation at that time of year. If you walk up there could be a wait of half an hour or more. You could go to Clearwater Beach and visit Hulk Hogan's store. It's not big but a lot of memorabilia and merchandise. There used to be a gym above it or so that one of the Bushwhackers was partial owner of. Not sure if that is still the deal. Also since you like betting the Seminole Hard Rock casino currency has in person betting but that might change by then as it's being challenged in court.

Sounds like a fun weekend you have planned. Stadium tours are always fun to do although I find them much better with a smaller group than a large one. When I toured Petco Park in San Diego it was just me and a family of four and the tour felt more personal and not quite as rushed. My tour of Rogers Centre in Toronto was with a massive group and while it was still fun their wasn't a lot of time for the guide to answer questions and we were quickly ushered from one place to another. (Quick side note to Rogers Communications: Stop putting your name on sports arenas in Canada. Between Rogers Centre in Toronto, Rogers Arena here in Vancouver and now Rogers Place in Edmonton it's becoming difficult to keep track of which venue is which.) I hope to get back to Florida again too someday. I was there in 2011 and the highlight of my trip was being in Gainesville to watch my Gators beat the Tennessee Volunteers in person. I also made my way down to Orlando for a few days to check out Universal Studios which was incredible, especially The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. The bulk of my trip was in Jacksonville though. Dealing with the 98 degree humid weather my first few days there was quite an adjustment for someone who has never experienced it: I nearly passed out from the heat at the Jaguars-Titans game I attended. Jacksonville was a fun city to visit although their public transit system is dreadful. Hopefully it's improved since I was there. One thing I didn't find out about until I got back from my trip is that Jacksonville apparently is one of the most crime-ridden cities in the State. However, I went all throughout the city, including into the so-called "bad areas", and never once felt unsafe.

I lived in Jax for about a decade. At least 3 of my coworkers got jumped right in front of our work. I had someone try to force themself into my car. Later someone fired a bullet into my car windshield and apartment window. Another friend got attacked walking to his car.
And since we moved away, at least 3 shootings happened just down the street from our old apartment.
No regrets moving to NC.

Follow up on stolen driveway. I wondered how the scan worked. What it is the scammer finds a home for sale or abandoned them calls a construction company to get quote on removing the concrete. They act like the home owner, send a check for more than the job costs and call to point that out. The company instead of waiting for the check to clear send a refund for the difference. The company lose the money they sent and the check they got bounce.
As for home owner, the community raised $10K to help her get a new driveway. But the company she hired did it for free. So she is donating the money to charity. So some good came out of it all.
