we are in essence a small community (compared with say, Magic: The Gathering) For example, Filsinger Games needs to invest more time, energy (and money) into advertising. Let's face it---we have created and marketed wrestling's greatest games for a long time and we need to get our games in front of wrestling fans more often. Firm believer that the only difference between Magic and FG is marketing. I feel confident FG would look great in stores, on shelves and in check outs in foil packs with Magic and all the rest of the card games I see out there. And size. Magic cards are the size of "baseball" cards ie all sports player cards. They can fit in the same display case as other collector cards. Either FG would have to get smaller, or they would have to be displayed different than other collector cards packs. Not saying it cannot be done or even if would be bad but simply it would be different.

Correct.

I play an important role in the Indie set roster construction and I believe that a cut of 3 release from 4 releases but with more cards would not only work but could also thrive for the Indie brand.
My concern though is as a COTG fan. I think color cards are a superior product compared to black and white cards and I really want the entire COTG catalogue to be offered in color for new/incoming fans. With 4 releases possibly going down to 3 releases would this make it more unlikely for past COTG sets to get colorized?

Not sure how good the profit margins have been with the reimagined sets thus far to justify continuing them (not counting EC), but as a person who discovered the game early on during the ads in the Apter mags, I've really enjoyed picking up all of that stuff and reliving the early days of the GWF with the updated art and stats.

I don't anticipate that happening. I agree that converting the early COTG sets to color is something I would like to see and I anticipate that it will happen.

I think gameplay wise, the FG games are as good as any card game out there.
HOWEVER, I think we're glossing over a major factor in the popularity of collectable card games, and that is the "collectability" aspect. Everyone who buys Myth Worlds or Expansion XI gets the same cards in the same limitations, etc. This is great for the game aspect, and don't get me wrong, I am not advocating that this change, but it will never attract the same folks who are looking to pull/play/possess rare cards. Looking at the resale market of those games (MtG, Pokemon, etc.), both demand and value of some of the cards, this isn't an insignificant portion of their player base...

Exactly.

You guys have any idea how many wildly successful card games are not collectable?
Ever heard of Marvel Champions? Arkham Horror The Living Card Game? Marvel Legendary? The DC Deck Building Game? Sentinels of The Multiverse?
Those games all feature themes that are appealing to most gamers (super heroes, horror, fantasy, etc,), top notch production values, and intriguing yet accessible game play. New game expansions come out all the time and devoted players buy everything as soon as it comes out (don't ask me how I know this). And a huge part of the appeal is that nothing is collectable. You know exactly what you are spending your hard earned cash on and you get exactly what you want. Believe it or not, there are millions of people who buy games to play them, not to display them.
If you ask me, Filsinger Games would be well served to develop relationships with content providers who serve the gaming audience. Grant can't do it all by himself. I'm talking heavy hitters like the Dice Tower. There's one guy on that channel who loves wrestling games. Has he ever heard of COTG? I doubt it.
Personally I've been playing mostly Legends and some Indies for 21 years now. The day I hear the exciting news that Legends has gone collectable is the day I'm outa here. No biggie. I'm not the future anyway.

If he loves wrestling games and has never heard of COTG then he doesn't know much about wrestling game history. And if he hasn't heard of us by association with our Legends and Indie games then he has a lot to learn. Thanks for the tip though, it may come in handy.
