Pete, maybe I'm thinking of another promoter but did you have a letter published in PWI or one of the affiliated magazines? Cory Olson, maybe??? I know I wrote PWI more than once and definitely sent in "Unofficial" Official Awards...so it is possible. BUT I am SURE that I wasn't the only Promoter to make the illustrious pages of PWI! ::raises hand:: I sent in results to an indy show that got printed in the Arena Reports section.

I hate communism in real life, but had to be fair: the only time I ever wrote to PWI was when Mike von Erich, an All American boy, beat out Nikita Koloff , a hated communist, for the 84 PWI Rookie of the Year. Obviously didn’t get printed, but had to be honest.
Even during that time, I’d carefully vote for things like the MLB All Stars, only picking the most deserving instead of fan favorites.
Such a nerd, lol.

Such a nerd, lol. I used to do the same thing. When I was about 9 or 10 years old I was at a Vancouver Canucks game with a friend of mine right around the time of fan voting for the NHL All-Star game. My friend shamelessly voted for all Canucks on his punch-out ballot and wanted to know why I wasn’t doing the same by voting for the likes of Ray Bourque and Brian Leetch. My response was “because they’re having the best season.” I did have one Canuck on my ballot though: Pavel Bure, who was in the midst of a 60 goal season. He got my vote strictly on merit and not because of hometown bias.

I quickly liked Ozzie Smith. I did vote for him for years as a deserving player, but I still remember when it was time to vote in Barry Larkin. It hurt, but he deserved my vote.
