Why do so many promotions take their tag team champ and have him challenge or win a singles title? I don't like it.

I think in this case it's partly going to be down to Damo, I believe, still living in the US and so not being available for this show, and that they are trying to build Yoichi up with some good title defences, as we have NOAH coming to the UK later in the year, which is his original home promotion in Japan

The only argument I can see for it is if you have a really over tag team that you want to keep together but one or both members want to have some single accolades. If letting them challenge and put on a good match but come up short or even win the single championship and hold it for a short run keeps the tag team together then it makes sense.

In addition to Axel Tischer, who was announced last weekend at the online con, there are several other names on this show who don't have cards yet but who have signed the release form to be in the game.

Just got home from day one of Super Strong Style 16. A really good afternoon of wrestling. Crazy that Mike Santana wrestled JT Dunn in Massachusetts for House of Glory last night, or what would have been around 12.15am UK time, and then less than a day later he put on a superb match with Connor Mills in Camden, London!! Leon Slater was defeated by Shelton Benjamin, but cut a cool promo after the match saying his dad wasn't around when he was growing up but that Shelton was his idol and someone he looked up to, adding he used to take a Shelton action figure with him wherever he went at one stage. Shelton had actually gone backstage at that point but came back out to hug Slater. Mike Santana faces Ricky Knight Jr tomorrow in the quarter final, while Shelton Benjamin faces Man Like Dereiss. We've also got Kid Lykos II vs Luke Jacobs (which will be very interesting, as Jacobs attacked the original Kid Lykos after the main event) and Tate Mayfairs vs Eddie Dennis. There's also a battle royal, the women's world title and Yoichi defending the Atlas title against Axel Tischer, plus the semis and the final. Tomorrow is a public holiday here in the UK, so it's a 3pm start for the show. I know Progress are streaming it for free if anyone is interested: demandprogressplus.progresswrestling.com/programs/super-strong-style-16-day-two?category_id=157798
