What a joy! Thanks for having me on the show. Loved getting the chance to chat and hang out with you all - even if I did go breaking rules. Look forward to seeing the dialogue that spins out of the episode.
Here's a list of some of the books, writers, and artists I mentioned (and I few I didn't get around to)
Hulk! #10 with an interview with Bill Bixby - I was a big fan of the TV show. That book was so fascinating to me. George Perez’s Wonder Woman books were another big one for me in the early days. I loved Wonder Woman. Another was Spider-Ham and then Robotech comics. X-Men and Wolverine were huge for me. Batman, of course. Teen Titans were another I loved. Judas Contract hit me big - it was so mature and felt like a jump forward compared to what I had read before. Batman Year One was another big one. The Flash - I loved the Flash dearly for a time - Mark Waid’s run, especially. Queen & Country by Greg Rucka is awesome. Saga. Y: The Last Man Sandman Fables. Alias. Lazarus. Gotham Central. Runaways. Paper Girls. New Mutants. Daredevil: Man Without Fear mini. Spider-Man Blue. The Long Halloween. Fantastic Four. Grant Morrison! Manga, too - Alita, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed. Mermaid Scar. Crying Freeman. Maus. Gender Queer. March. They Called Us Enemy. Sex Criminals. Wicked & Divine. GI Joe silent issue. DARWYN COOKE New Frontier!!!! Daredevil Yellow. Superman for All Seasons. THE CROW! Age of Apocalypse. Invincible. Black Hammer. Transformers MTME & Lost Light. Hellblazer. Green Hornet
Watchmen,
Fave Writers: Denny O’Neil. Greg Rucka. Marv Wolfman. Jeph Loeb. Neil Gaiman. Grant Morrison. Gail Simone. G. Willow Wilson. Kelly Sue Deconnick. Louise Simonson. Fiona Staples. Brian K. Vaughn. Matt Fraction. Ed Brubaker.
Favorite artists: Neal Adams & George Perez. Mike Wieringo. Humberto Ramos. Mark Bagley. John Romita (Sr. & Jr.), Jim Lee.
Favorites storylines: Hard Travelin’ Heroes. Messiah Complex & Judas Contract. Wolverine: Origin. Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past. Dark Knight Returns. Hush. Geoff Johns GL. Transformers MTME & Lost Light, Preacher

Having only collected through the mid to late 80s, I was pretty much clueless about the stuff Matt and Sam were discussing. Was still a very cool dialogue and gave me a lot of content to consider for future reading.

I have always loved comics but before I was 10 it was an occasional buy off the spin racks- shogun warriors or micronaughts...
I loved Spiderman but for some reason couldn't find any...
My cousin (who collected for years) would end up giving me his collection when he was sent to Korea (I think...idk, somewhere for the army. I was like 12 years old and had in my hands several hundred comics that are worth a bunch of $ now but the collection introduced me to Spiderman, Teen Titans, Xmen, Legion of Superheroes, Batman, and on and on...he got me hooked!
In my adolescence, I would buy couple now and then...when I joined the Corps, I was stationed in Hawaii and got my first pull file at Jelly's...if u had one, you got 50% back issues (to a point) and my collection exploded! I would have to send comic boxes home to my grandmother to hold until I returned home.
So many stories has resonated with me and to be honest I kinda stay mainstream...mostly a marvel guy but have sprinkling of DC, Image, etc.
Favorite Books: Usaga Jojimbo (was a crossover with TMNT and have spent tons of money getting back issues), XMen, Spiderman, Stray Dogs limited run, and Chew! (great series)
Favorite storylines: Kraven's Last Hunt, Blackest Night, Maximum Carnage, Age of Apocalypse (I kept waiting for this to be mentioned), and Superior Spiderman (it was great watching Octavious kinda evolve into somewhat a "hero" mentality)
Favorite Artist: Darrell Banks, Neal Adams, Grant Morrison, and John Cassaday
First Book ever bought: Marvel Team Up Annual #7. A issue that this podcast made me reminisce about and I bought one.
Prized possession: I have many high profile/high dollar issues but that doesn't matter to me as I love to collect/read for the chase/fun...buuutt...my first bday when dating my wife, she took me to a Denver Comic Con and I won (in a raffle) the Dark Knight Returns 4 issue series signed by Frank Miller and Bob Kane!!! I also had Neal Adams sign a poster he was selling and Steve Lieber (who was drawing Hawkman) drew and signed Hawkman battling Solomon Grundy picture. Spent a lot of money but fun...
