At some point during the Con (might have been at dinner) Tom was talking about Thesus and mentioned how he almost called him something similar to ACTAGON (but a different spelling).
That’s the kind of thing I want to hear about when it’s Tom’s time to talk. Just an open stream of thoughts about all the cool stuff going on in his head about the game, its characters and stories.

A fun listen, although there were a bunch of time I was yelling at the podcast with corrections. Todd, just out of curiosity, what other corrections were there? The Q&A’s are pointless. I’m not complaining. I get it. I understand (especially with legends) why some names can’t be spoiled ahead of time. But we’re going on like 7 years of sitting around getting absolutely zero extra news at these things. It’s very copy and paste by taking turns saying they can’t answer that right now then showing a new piece of art. Rob, I'm wondering where you got the seven years number. Chad announced that Pat Patterson had been signed at GalactiCon '22 in Chicago. I get what you're saying though about putting more content into the Q&A.

Jackie Fargo was announced at a Con panel too, and that was kind of refreshing because it was just, "You got any new names?" "Yeah, Jackie Fargo's one" without having to tie him into a specific set announcement. It was like the early, early days of Legends when Tom would just rattle off who he'd signed recently. I know it sounds entitled, especially coming off a set with Bruno in it, but I still don't get the secrecy behind doing a Legends panel, announcing upcoming sets, and not giving us anybody. Even if it's John Tatum or Chic Donovan. I know, I know--Tom wants to hold back some names as surprises. Set rosters are often in flux. I've heard it, and I get it. But I refuse to believe they're *that* much in flux or that an announcement of a Chic Donovan-level name is going to ruin the CAC set suspense that much.
I have one more note, and I didn't really want to say this publicly but with all the talk about the usefulness of the panels, I feel like I Have to add this: if you're not interested in a particular panel, I humbly ask you to find a spot farther away and have your non-panel discussions there, and do it at a reasonable volume. I'm not even a big indies player but the indies panel was tough in particular because I couldn't hear half of it over the other attendees. The panels may feel more substantive if we actually give them the attention they deserve.

I’m strictly speaking in terms of Tom and COTG stuff, not LOW and Chad or anybody on that team. Sorry for not clarifying that. Legends is like a whole separate thing in my brain from COTG.

Jackie Fargo was announced at a Con I’m very casual LOW fan. If it’s not an 80’s-90’s WWF/WCW guy it doesn’t really grab me. I’m sure Pat Patterson and Jackie Fargo are great reveals for most of the fan base though. They’re just far out of my range of interest.

So, about selecting cards for tournaments...Going back to my first GCon, the first tournament I was ever in was the Infinity Challenge Tag Tournament. 48 pre-selected teams, everyone got 2 teams apiece. Draft order was by a roll of a 30-sided die (and this was pretty cumbersome and if it were done today it would undoubtedly be pulling numbered strips of paper). Once the order was selected, you could pick any remaining team that you wanted. It felt like you had just a little bit more control than pulling a name directly out of a hat, and yet the number of potential teams was still controlled and finite and there was still randomness in who had to make do when the best remaining teams were either, say, the Pillars of Power or the Barbarians.
But, I get that there are exponentially more cards to choose from now than there were in the early days of GCon, and bringing them all to the Con without losing anybody may not be feasible.
So I wonder if there's a fix for that, too: maybe set up an official dummy COTGOnline account that has access to all the Online cards? With login information available to in-person tournament-goers. Most of us attendees have smartphones now--why not just bring the cards up in the Gallery on our phone and roll the dice that way? At least for tournaments that may be using deeper cuts than the usual Current COTG Roster tournament. With maybe the exception of Piper or some CPC/Classics guys, a fully-stocked Online account will get us maybe 90% of the cards that anyone would ever want to select. Once the con's over, the email or password can be changed and the account stocked with new releases over the course of the next year until it's made available again for the next con.

Pete, I think this is an awesome idea! As I was reading your thoughts, I wondered, "Wouldn't people always be able to access this account and then never have to pay for Online sets?" But then you came up with a solution for that. Brilliant!

I know you guys like to talk about your local weather at the start of these podcasts.
I was just outside. You know how hot it is in Las Vegas right now? 122 degrees lol.
I have seen 120 degrees here, but I don't think I have ever been outside in 122 degrees weather before today.

I'd take 120 degrees and zero percent humidity, over 95 degrees and 90 percent humidity ANY day!

Bonfire is a dry heat, you don't see me jumping into that.
