Unbelievably, actual footage of George Hackenschmidt wrestling "Yankee" Joe Rogers in 1908 has surfaced, thanks to a group out of New Zealand. You can check it out below. Pretty cool to see, even if it wasn't an overly competitive match.
For those who don't know him, Joe Rogers was something of a enhancement talent for the bigger name wrestlers of the era. He was a pretty large dude for the time so even if he wasn't as skilled as a Gotch or Hackenschmidt, they could sell him as a threat because of his size. He also helped Gotch train for Hack for one of their meetings. For the record, I'd love to see him in the game. He unfortunately passed away in 1929 of a heart attack and had no children.

Definitely a name that could be fun for the game. Vintage could use a few more lower level guys.

Pretty amazing find. Looks like the film is in good condition for how old it is and how it may have been stored for the last century.

At what point would his likeness become public domain? Couldn't he be added then?

The rules vary from what I understand although I'd say with no children that it's likely they could do a card with little worry.

That is my hope. He wouldn't be high level but with this footage now out there, it would be a fun addition to the game.
