Plans for FED OF THE MONTH

Hey guys,

Well we've gone through a year of selecting a FED OF THE MONTH. A bunch of great feds have won the crown, but over the course of the year, voting participation has steadily decreased. I figure that's based on a couple of factors.

One would be that the rules stated that once a fed won once, they couldn't win again. Another was that shortly after we started crowning a winner, the GBITG started the same contest and it sort of watered down the concept a bit.

Basically, as things are going now, the interest to keep things going as is just isn't there...

Now, I turn to everyone for suggestions on what to do next. Should we "reset" and make all feds eligible again? Should we crown a Fed of the Year? Should we scrap the idea all together?

Maybe someone has a different suggestion on how to determine a winning fed.

Award a 'Fed of the Year' prize, something pretty big, and then reset everything.

Any feds can win again in the next year cycle, so long as they have been updated within the new year's cycle. So, we can have new and repeat Feds of the Month, but also new and repeat Feds of the Year.

That way, a history would be established and could be compared to or contrasted to for hopeful winners...sort of like a championship belt.

Well, IMO interest always slows down after the initial 'newness' wears off...however, a factor in the voting process could be that promoters only read certain feds and to be brutally honest... some feds shouldn't be named Fed of the Month as some only post result based feds without any story lines or some promoters just restart after every other week...not to offend anyone, just stating my opinion...

Concerning the watered down feeling that you stated...well, I consider GBITG more of a GWF forum compared to the official board's LOW feeling...and that is my view on why some may feel the way that you have described...

Also, I think that a Fed of the Year should be added..this will add to the history of the boards and an award of some kind should be instituted...such as snuggling with April Hunter (I wanted to put something else but trying to keep it PG) or something just as awesome! A lot of promoters put A LOT of work into there feds and I enjoy reading some of them e.g. Valour's, Eliath's, Dharneth's, Avarice's, Mr. Vegas (and not to toot my own horn but my fed isn't a slouch either), and several others...

Concerning Fed of the Months continuation, heck yeah! This was a great idea and brings out the creative side of everyone's fed that contends for the honor! However, I do have one suggestion...maybe the Fed could be stickied like in TGBITG to showcase that particular fed for the month...

The FED OF THE MONTH is featured as the first item in the News Fader, showcasing it for everyone visiting the message boards, not just those visiting the fed forum.

I think the voting has declined because there are so many feds to read. Hard to read everyone's fed and like Old Skewl said, maybe some just read certain ones?

I myself don't really do fed results as I don't have time or take time to post an elaborate storyline. So actually sitting and reading results probably doesn't happen for me either.

I say, if the majority wants to keep this trend alive, then go for it. I just don't expect to keep on it as much as it gets to be too much of a good thing!

Well not everybody here isn't a member of the GBITG. I'm sure so we should either have the FOTM or post the fed winner from there here. As OldSkwel would say just my opinion is all.

Yeah, I actually rarely read fed results so I rarely vote. Once the peopel whos feds won them, I had no one to vote for.

Maybe have a special section for feds that are competing for it like CWA or the "Challenge." People that put a lot of time into their feds could be shown off there and those that don't care about it don't have to have their fed in there. That way hot feds that people do read can choose from those. These can be nominated and what not to get in there. If they become inactive for a period of time, they can be removed.
Each month send out the message that you do for voting and make it a poll, then people can vote for their favorite feds there.

Maybe another thing could be a top 5 or 10 ranking for FOTY? Each month have promoters list their vote for FOTM, then list top 5 or 10 and each fed from there get certain points. Keep a points standings and at the end of the year or a cycle, the points champ becomes FOTY? If done this way, someone who wins FOTM maybe gets bonus points, a reward for getting the FOTM honors.

Kinda make the Feds that want in to this special thread push themselves. Encourage all those entered and even those that are not to read and reply. I think that helps out a long ways here. A fed may get a lot views, but only 3 replies. A person that reads would only have to drop a small line of what they like or encouragement to let the promoter know that they're doing a good job and build up their confidence to keep the drive alive.

These are just some suggestions, but I hope to keep this going. as I am a previous FOTM winner and love posting for people to read. If more viewers that read responded, I'd like that, but to the few that do read my fed religiously, thank you and I hope to keep you entertained in the future. And to those that I do read like a cult following (main ones Old Skewl listed: Eliath, Dharneth, Cake, Valour, etc) and that go above and beyond, thank you for keeping me entertained.

Another thing: You could do the Fed Cup or something. The FOTM winner could get a small prize, and then have an image of a trophy cup with their name and fed "engraved" on it posted here. The 12 winners and maybe have 4 "runner ups" some how entered and then each could get a wrestler to represent their fed and you or someone else could run a single or double elimination tournament with a match or 2 played each week and the final winner would be FOTY. It's a more straight up way to give someone FOTY besides just voting, it could actually be played out. I like this idea the best, it enhances the spirit of competition.

I was voting regularly and declined. My reasoning was though that I started to slow down posting in my own because of work and such which in turn kept me from reading others in the forum. I think that there should still be a fed of the year and I like the idea of reseting it. Maybe it could be reset after 6 months instead of a year as Old Skewl said some just might not be that great and I'm sure some stop voting because the ones they like won and that they didn't have/find others that they thought worth reading.

I'm for keeping it and I hope to be posting more soon as long as going back to school doesn't mess me up.
