Are the matches going to be CotG Hardcore matches or are you going to use the various promoter-made matches like you did last year?

Are the matches going to be CotG Hardcore matches or are you going to use the various promoter-made matches like you did last year? If they use promoter made matches, you can enter your "Lilly Pad Death Match" True, but last year there was the "endless" Lingere Pillow Fight...if this tournament is about CotG it should feature established matches from the CotGverse, not bootleg charts. There are enough hardcore matches in the Ringside Companions to make for a hardcore extravaganza... If there will be bootleg charts/matches used in this tournament, you will have the same issue you had last year...nobody will want to play & you will have to run around to even find 8 players to fill your tournament. Additionally, you allowed people to "pick" their superstars before the Con; that is another reason that nobody except those who picked their characters before hand wanted to play in your tournament...When you opened it up to a lottery draw, everyone was interested; why? because it was fair, not bulls**t. Nathan was "forced" to open up the lottery format because that was the ONLY way to fill out his bracket... Sorry if my opinion offends anyone; I'm just calling it exactly as I saw it from Galacticon last year. I was one that called "bulls**t" & wasn't interested in playing. I'm also not likely to play again this year because I can see that nothing has changed in his booking strategy for the tournament; he's already asked Troy & IB for their "picks"...sad, very sad.

Why not 16 people, instead of eight using two wrestlers? I prefer the number small because it is easier to try and keep track of 8 people versus keeping track of 16. I would consider upping the number of participants, if I could get some assistance with it, but the pairing concept would remain the same. And since this is the BIG con where tournaments are supposed to be uber plentiful, I kinda doubt I would get enough assitance to pull it off. Hope that answers your question. Assistance? For 16 people? Come on, Mike Fortune runs the Canada Cup by himself with A LOT MORE than 16 people in it. Run the tournament with 8 wrestlers. First Round is in a Circinus Cell; Second Round is in a torture chamber; Finals are inside the Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage. The second set of 8 wrestlers: First Round is an Aethran Ultimate Escape Match; Second Round is a Mensa Tables Match; Finals is a Castor Chain Match. Then you take the two bracket winners & make them face off in a Last Man Standing Match to determine your Champion. Simple booking, simple rules; GREAT RESULTS. More importantly, you will have people interested in playing in your tournament.

or another option in picking the type of matches is say like Cordanus' roll chart in the Ringside companion. It has a list of specialty matches with die rolls on the left side. You can determine what match will be in each bracket. That way, it's random instead of having set matches for each round as Eliath suggested. That could be more fun as you don't know exactly what match you will be in until the start of that match? Just an idea. There's all kinds of ways to run the tournament, might as well do it the way that is best for everyone involved and a way that everyone will happy with. That's about the only way you're going to get people involved in your tournament!? Otherwise, what's the point in trying to organize a tournament if you can't get enough interest in it!?

Guys, the purpose of a gaming tournament is for people to enjoy themselves. Wibles tournament is a staple of GCon, but as a promoter made tournament, it was entered into the division of IP tournament. This allows for whatever rules he chooses to enforce to be allowed, where as the rules for the Galacticup Tournament are standerized to general rules. Suggestions should be made to include more involvement, but everyone must maintain an open mind, because lots of playing will be happening at GCon. If you don't want to be involved in any one tournament, just don't sign up, there will be others!
My personal opinion, I believe no bootleg characters or charts should be allowed at an official COTG event. Tom is very gracious with allowing promoters to immulate his game, but when you have the man himself there, why not honor him by using official charts? JMO...
I also prefer randomization over "drafting" your team. It just isn't fair, because who gets first pick? A first come, first served basis isn't fair at a gaming convention.
Jim, I love randomization and all the Galacticup Tournaments, I guarantee random drawings for the wrestlers.

To answer a number of questions:
I will be using promoted made matches becasue there are not enough REALLY hardcore matches in the regular COTG verse to amke it work. To make my tournament work, you need a variety of hardcore matches and while there are some in the regular game edition (Circinus cell, Barbed wire cosmic cage, hardcore titan death, etc) it isn't quite enough. So, I supplement with promoter made matches. Makes things more interesting.
As for the number of players, I could bring it up to 16 if I knew enough people were interested.
as for HOW it's played, I have run the tournament for a few years now, and I know the people that regularly play it prfer my method. Besdies, like i said, just because you get an awesome card, does not mean you will automatically win. it is a Hardcore tournament, which means you could be winning the match and with the bash of a chair, your suddenly losing. Bruiser Brody won the tournament one year so anything can happen. Besdies, with 4 different feds to choose a pair of stars from, are you telling me that you can't find 2 you like? that fit the bill? I'm sorry if that opinion bothers some people but I have run the tournament that way for years.
