Awesome main event, as the SWA takes its place in the wrestling archives and the fans are treated to the dismantling of Oliver Humperdink by a quartet of their favorites...
Great lead-in for a family versus family affair... The Armstrongs and the Gilberts are brimming with talent and I can't even try to pick a winner in that one...
Things are really ramping up, as we get one step closer to WrestleCade X weekend... Fired up for what is sure to be the most colossal event in LOW's ten year history!

Another fun show and seeing Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton both lose their matches to the Fantastics is a real bummer, but Bobby Shane winning over Tommy Rich is truly big time and I love it. Speaking of loving it... LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox assessed the situation in speaking with local reporters afterward and said that there was room on WrestleCade X for another match and he officially announced that the Armstrong family (Bob, Brad & B.G.) would face the Gilbert family (Tommy, Eddie & Doug) in six-man tag team action. He said that it would be “Family Warfare” and he expected it to be heated battle between the two sides. Bob Armstrong, who was being stitched up by a doctor, received word of the match being signed and thanked Cox for his forward thinking and said that nothing pleases him more than to be able to team with his sons against the Gilbert’s on the biggest stage in LOW. This addition at WCX is very cool and seeing the Armstrongs face the Gilberts will be cool and I'm picking the Armstrong Family to win the match...

Thanks for the comments Pariah and Crimson. It was somewhat sad for me to finish off the SWA but I am also very happy to begin a new chapter in my fed. I had been hoping to make something out of an Armstrong vs. Gilbert family feud and the pieces all fell into place to set up the match for WrestleCade X. Next up is the final night of action for the AWE and that means only one thing - the next time that I post a card it will be the official start of WrestleCade X weekend beginning with the first round of the PWI Invitational Cup tournament. I am finalizing the events for the big weekend of cards (four shows total) followed by opening the new year at the Tokyo Dome and I wll try to post the complete lineups soon. Hope you enjoy this last round of AWE action...
LOW American Wrestling Enterprise - AWE Final Show - Conseco Fieldhouse - Indianapolis, IN (Card #996)
● Ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta welcomed the crowd for the final show of the AWE with the advent of the Capitol Wrestling Alliance in LOW. There were some disappointed reactions from the crowd but cheers came when Cappetta introduced former LOW Commissioner Massif to the crowd. Massif said that he was standing in for LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox due to Cox having to travel to Texas to oversee preparations for WrestleCade X. Massif said that the time he spent as LOW Commissioner, which included a grudge rivalry with Ox Baker, was some of the greatest times of his career. He said that his future will be without LOW as he has to return to his galactic home to take care of some business but that he was happy to be in Indianapolis on this night for what he promised would be a big night of action. He said that Cox allowed him to book this final card for the AWE and that he set up four big singles and tag team matches with the main event pitting “The Solid Man” William Muldoon & Dan “The Beast” Severn against “Ravishing” Rick Rude & Larry Zbyszko. The crowd cheered that announcement and Massif thanked them for making his last night in LOW a memorable one. He then handed the mic back to Cappetta so that the action could get underway.
1) Lord Zoltan defeated Mikey Whipwreck: The hardcore underdog Mikey Whipwreck took on First Family member Lord Zoltan who was accompanied by manager Jimmy Hart. With the AWE coming to an end one has to wonder what will happen to guys like Whipwreck and Zoltan, or even the entire First Family. Zoltan impressed early and then went to using weapons like his wrist tape for choking and what appeared to be a chipped piece of Hart’s megaphone. A running knee drop netted a two count for Zoltan before Whipwreck began to mount a comeback. He nailed Zoltan with a running dropkick and tornado DDT attempting to set up for his finisher the Whipper-Snapper. Zoltan, however, floored him with a shoulder tackle and then hit a Top Rope Neck Snap rolling up Whipwreck to score the pin.
2) Jim Brunzell & Fred Curry defeated PG-13 by DQ: The high flying tandem of Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell & “Flying” Fred Curry took on PG-13 (J.C. Ice & Wolfie D) in a high energy battle. PG-13 showed off their tag team experience by hitting some nice double-team moves like the leg sweep and clothesline. They also hit the Backbreaker and Elbow combo on Brunzell for a near fall. The agile Curry, son of the hardcore Wild Bull Curry, nailed Wolfie D with a missile dropkick for a two count. Brunzell followed with a figure four leglock on Wolfie D but he made a defensive tag while still trapped in the hold. Ice entered and wound up delivering the Smash with Hubcap on Brunzell in plain view of the referee and that led to the disqualification decision.
3) Angelo Poffo defeated The Terrible Turk by DQ: A second straight technical decision decided this battle of hardened veterans as Angelo Poffo took on The Terrible Turk (Youssuf Ishmaelo). Poffo was impressive in the early going scoring a submission chance with a stepover toehold and nailing The Turk with a knee lift for a near fall. The Turk was very strong on offense nailing Poffo with moves like the falling bodyslam, rib crusher and camel backbreaker. Poffo survived a rib crusher kicking out with authority and then caught The Turk with his finisher the Neckbreaker for a near fall. The finish saw The Turk trap Poffo in the controversial Stranglehold. Poffo got to the ropes for a break but The Turk would not release the punishing hold and that resulted in the referee calling for the disqualification.
4) Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon defeated John Pesek & Yukon Eric: The popular pairing of the “Nebraska Tiger Man” John Pesek and Yukon Eric took on First Family members Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon who were accompanied by manager Jimmy Hart. Pesek was making his return to action after suffering a mild concussion courtesy of LOW World Heavyweight champion Johnny Valentine. He looked good during the match but also took a beating at the hands of Mad Dog and the Butcher. Mad Dog planted Pesek with the Piledriver at one point but Eric made the save. Eric would subsequently tag in and nearly got a submission on Butcher with the Kodiak Krunch but Mad Dog made the save. There was a very controversial moment later in the same situation as Hart got involved and hit Eric in the head with the megaphone while the referee was distracted. Butcher took advantage of that and applied the Hangman but somehow Eric was able to break out of the hold. Eric was in a bad way, though, and with time winding down Mad Dog nailed him with the Piledriver to score the pin.
5) Bill Dundee defeated Lanny Poffo: The popular “Leaping” Lanny Poffo returned to his roots coming to the ring in a suit of armor as he prepared to take on “Superstar” Bill Dundee with Jimmy Hart back out at ringside. Poffo tried to read a poem regarding the final night of the AWE but Hart kept shouting over him with his megaphone drawing jeers from the crowd. The action got underway with Poffo looking great early including scoring two counts with a cross body block and a flying bodypress from the top rope. Another attempted deathjump by Poffo saw Dundee roll out of the way and apply a cradle hold for a two count. Dundee took over on offense using the Indian Deathlock for a submission chance and then planting Poffo with a roundhouse right. Poffo managed to mount a late comeback but was eventually cut off by Dundee who came off of the top rope with the Superstar Bomb to score the pin. A jubilant Hart ran around ringside shouting into the megaphone “This is the greatest day of my life!” as the First Family went undefeated on the final night of AWE action. It will be interesting to see where Hart and the First Family members wind up when the new year begins in LOW.
6) Midnight Rockers defeated Valiant Brothers: A great tag team rivalry was featured for the final time in the AWE as the Midnight Rockers (Stan Lane & Marty Jannetty) took on the Valiant Brothers (Jimmy “Boogie Woogie Man” Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) of the Heenan Family. Manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was not at ringside as he is busy plotting strategy with his latest client, Andre the Giant, for WrestleCade X. The Rockers shined early with Lane hitting the flapjack on Jimmy and Jannetty catching him with a cross body block and flying elbowdrop (ch). Valiant turned things around on the outside and he and Johnny took over getting the heat on Jannetty for an extended stretch. They combined to hit the Top Rope Elbow on Jannetty but he was able to kick out before the three count. Johnny was in control until going for a backdrop with Jannetty countering with a knee lift. Moments later Jannetty nailed “Luscious’ Johnny with the Rocker Dropper and covered him to score the pin as Lane prevented Jimmy from making the save. The Rockers now head into the tag team Battle Royal during WrestleCade X weekend with some added momentum.
7) Finlay defeated The French Angel: The French Angel, also known as Maurice Tillet, has an important match coming up with Pampero Firpo at the Tokyo Dome (Card #1001) but he could not look past the challenge of the “Belfast Bruiser” Finlay here. The two European stars went at it in brutal fashion throughout this match. The Angel struck with forearm hammers but Finlay blasted him with the European uppercut. Finlay followed with the sitdown splash scoring a two count. They battled to the outside where Finlay gained the advantage and then struck the Angel with the Shillelagh resulting in a big near fall. That blow really shook up The Angel and he had a hard time battling back after that. Finlay began to dominate and with the Angel nearly out of it he nailed him with the Celtic Cross, his version of the Emerald Frosion, to score the pin.
8) William Muldoon & Dan Severn defeated Rick Rude & Larry Zbyszko by DQ: The main event saw “The Solid Man” William Muldoon & “Dan “The Beast” Severn, both former LOW World Heavyweight champions, team up to take on Heenan Family members “Ravishing” Rick Rude & Larry Zbyszko. This was a hotly contested main event with both teams looking strong. Zbyszko scored a great near fall on Muldoon after hitting a counter running lariat out of the corner. Muldoon struck back tying up Zbyszko with the double shoulder lock before Severn tagged in and hit the fireman’s carry slam. That led to a desperation tag by Zbyszko and Rude took over regaining control for his team. Rude went up scoring a two count on Muldoon when he nailed him with a big clothesline. Muldoon then wore down Rude with a bearhug and that set up Severn applying the Wakigatame for a submission chance. It was getting pretty intense towards the finish as all four men would battle on the floor at various points. The finish saw Severn trap Zbyszko in the Wakigatame for what looked to be a sure submission but Rude came off of the top rope with a knee drop to break it up. Muldoon then charged in and caught Rude with the Body Lift and Throw as the referee called for the bell. The official decision was a disqualification win for Muldoon and Severn as Rude came off of the top rope for the save which is illegal in tag team matches under LOW rules. Rude recovered and argued with the referee to no avail before bailing out of the ring with Zbyszko. Muldoon and Severn then soaked in the cheers of the crowd for the last time at an AWE event.

Some really great action on your last few cards, I'm especially looking forward to the culmination of the Armstrong/Gilbert feud.
Enjoyed the Muldoon & Severn vs Rude & Zbyszko match up, sounds like it was a fun match!

More hot action here. Great to see Lanny don the suit of armour once more, although he didn't pick up the victory (par for the course.) The Vachons over Pesek & Yukon Eric is an upset in my book, but they are a dangerous team at times. Great main event too although I do think your DQ rules are a little harsh! Still, who wants to see Zbysko pick up a victory?!
How are you finding Lord Zoltan by the way? I have yet to use him but have been tempted to bring him into HBWA to feud with Rob Van Dam (color card so a bit weaker.) He's a guy I know very little about, but he seems to have a lot of fun matche sin your fed!
Thanks!

I'm looking forward to your next chapter for your LOW and making changes is a good thing and you have such a rich history, those changes don't change that history and infact it elevates them. Your current card had a fun mix of outcomes like Lord Zoltan getting the victory, plus Brunzell & Curry winning even by DQ was a good win and I like that pairing. I'm a Bill Dundee fan and when he wins is a good thing and the First Family having a great night really shines bright, a good ending to AWE my friend...

So much going on right now with this fed. Great build and storylines heading into Wrestlecade. It will be interesting to see what impact the formatting changes will have going forwards. Thought the Gilbert v. Armstrong six man match set up was great.

Sure this is quite the emotional time... And it was pretty cool to see former LOW commissioner, Massif stepping in for Charlie Cox on this memorable occasion... But, as stated by our good friend, Crimson Cross, making changes is a good thing... Seeing how far this interpromotional league has evolved since it started over 6 years (and 300+ pages) ago - It is a testament to your dedication as a player... Really enjoyed the Midnight Rockers picking up that big victory over the Valiant Brothers... Here's hoping they do well in the tag team Battle Royal at WrestleCade X... The main event, featuring Muldoon & Severn vs Rude & Zbyszko, was a superb bookend for the AWE... Even though it was decided via disqualification, the crowd was electrified at its conclusion... Very interested to what the future has in store for these legendary LOW performers... Getting so close we can taste it... Awesome!

Thanks for the comments everyone. It has been an amazing time for me getting this close to card #1000 not to mention the changes my fed will have in the new year. I am finalizing all of the upcoming shows and will be posting them shortly. @kat Rana: Muldoon & Severn vs. Rude & Zbyszko was really fun to roll out. It could have gone either way. The Armstrongs vs. The Gilberts is a rivalry I have a lot of hope for so let's see how it plays out at WrestleCade X. joebreakdown: Lanny Poffo donning the suit of armor came up because I was watching a 1984 Memphis show while I rolled out the card and I remember getting a kick out of seeing him that way. The off the top rope pin save for a DQ is just my way of not having too many foreign object finishes in tag matches coming off of the pin save chart when a DQ occurs. It's a house rule of mine. As for Lord Zoltan I dont really know much about him but he has a fun card to use. In his time in the AWE he posted a 5-0-1 record with his biggest win coming over Yukon Eric. He should make a decent opponent for RVD. @crimson Cross: I am a big fan of Bill Dundee as well so it was nice to see him post that win and make the First Family unbeaten on the night. I don't know where Jimmy Hart will wind up in my new fed year but I am sure he will continue running his stable but of course he could be managing different guys. Thanks for those comments about my rich fed history and how it will be elevated by what is to come. bookerbill: I always look forward to your analysis of things and I'm happy you also enjoyed the build for the Armstrongs vs. the Gilberts. It has been a blast this year building to WrestleCade X. Pariah: Massif had a memorable run as my LOW Commissioner before I went to putting Charlie Cox in that role. Massif is leaving because he has some important "galactical' business to take care of. The way you put it at six years and over 300 pages really hits home and as card #1000 draws near I am really psyched. I hope everyone will enjoy the ride into the new game year. Midnight Rockers did great in that match with the Valiant Brothers and I agree in that I hope they fare well in the tag Battle Royal. There are going to be some great teams gunning for the title shot in that match.
