Looking forward to Gotch-Andre II. I tell you, Andre could be one Gotch Toe Hold away from dropping the strap.
Great studio show as always with the much anticipated debut of Mr. X II. LOL. I was halfway expecting a swerve in there somewhere.

Thanks for the comments Bookerbill, Pariah and Aceldamas. It looks like Bruiser Brody and Bobo Brazil are the popular picks thus far to win the Battle Royal. Will it be Frank Gotch or Andre the Giant that headlines at WrestleCade 11? Aceldamas is leaning towards Gotch and in all of my time of dice rolling Andre matches that match against Gotch was the closest he came to defeat. It took interference by Bobby Heenan to prevent a defeat and Heenan has been barred from the MSG rematch so it should be fun to see what happens. As for Mr. X II, no swerve involved he is just the hapless partner of the already hapless Mr. X. They of course think they are better than Mr. Wrestling & Mr. Wrestling II so the delusion is there. Mr. X II is, of course, the color Mr. X card provided by joebreakdown and Kat Rana so I figured it would be fun to pair him with the b & w Mr. X card.

LOW Golden Age Wrestling - International Amphitheater - Chicago, IL (Card #1082)
1) Henry Irslinger defeated Wild Bull Curry by DQ: A hard-fought opener saw Henry Irslinger taking on the feared Wild Bull Curry. Irslinger took the fight to Curry in the early going including gaining near falls with a scissors hold and his trademark Flying Headlock. Curry made a counter and blasted Irslinger with a forearm hammer for a big near fall. That led to Curry slipping on a pair of brass knuckles and delivering the Right-Hand Punch but the referee saw the weapon and awarded Irslinger the victory via disqualification.
2) Angel Orsini & Simply Luscious defeated Penny Banner & Alere Little Feather: The Ring Angels division of LOW was featured in tag team action as Penny Banner & Alere Little Feather took on Angel Orsini & Simply Luscious. This match had a little bit of everything including quick tags, big near falls and even a ref bump. All four women had solid runs on offense and this match could have gone either way. Banner nearly pinned Luscious with a top rope splash but Orsini made the save and reversed the pin. Luscious scored a two count there and then laid Banner out with a Death Valley Driver. Banner battled back making a hot tag to Little Feather and she dominated on offense scoring her own near fall on Luscious with the hangman’s neckbreaker. Orsini turned it around near the end when she caught Banner with a clothesline out of the corner and a running clothesline. That led to Luscious hitting the Luscious Landing, a springboard bulldog, on Banner to score the pin. It was a huge win for Luscious over Banner, a former Ring Angels and SHIMMER champion.
3) Angelo Poffo, Iron Mike Dibiase & Bob Orton Sr. defeated Danny Hodge, Dick Hutton & Ilio DiPaolo: A big trios match saw Danny Hodge, Dick Hutton & Ilio DiPaolo facing Angelo Poffo, Iron Mike Dibiase & Bob Orton, Sr. Both sides were evenly matched and that showed as the advantaged was traded multiple times. Early action saw Hodge with a Boston Crab and Hutton with a sleeper hold for submission chances. Hutton and Orton Sr. had some amazing battles against each other during the middle stages. The turning point came when Orton Sr. roughed up Hodge on the outside and then hit the Piledriver for a near fall with DiPaolo making the save. Poffo alertly tagged in and took advantage of the downed Hodge executing his trademark Neckbreaker to score the pin as Orton Sr. and Dibiase prevented another save attempt.
4) Yukon Eric defeated George Hackenschmidt: A battle of powerhouses saw Yukon Eric, a native of Fairbanks, AK, take on the “Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt from Dorpat, Estonia. Hackenschmidt overpowered Eric early nailing him with the single leg pickup and slam. He also applied the keylock armbar before tossing Eric out of the ring. The battle continued on the floor in a furious fashion with both men trading blows. They narrowly avoided a double disqualification decision at one point. Eric gained the advantage and drove Hackenschmidt back first into the guard rail several times. Back inside the ring it was Eric hoisting Hackenschmidt up into the Kodiak Krunch resulting in him scoring a submission victory over the former three-time LOW World Heavyweight champion. It was perhaps the biggest win in Eric’s career in LOW and a tough loss for Hackenschmidt who will have to regroup as he prepares for the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament during WrestleCade 11 weekend.
5) Killer Kowalski defeated Larry Hennig: Two noted power brawlers squared off next as Larry “The Axe” Hennig took on Killer Kowalski. Hennig seized control early and nearly pinned Kowalski after a series of punches in the corner. Kowalski survived a follow up bearhug and took the match to the floor where he ran Hennig head first into the guard rail. Kowalski launched into a brutal attack on Hennig and back inside he laid him out with a giant swing. That left an opening for him and he applied the Kowalski Claw on the midsection of Hennig who wound up taping out. Kowalski won it via submission in what was a short but intense battle.
6) Antonino Rocca & William Muldoon defeated Fabulous Kangaroos: Feature tag team action saw Antonino Rocca & “The Solid Man” William Muldoon against the Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan, with Wild Red Berry). The Kangaroos clearly had an edge as far as being a regular team but both Rocca and Muldoon have reigned as LOW World Heavyweight champions in the past. Berry, who recently decided to return to in-ring competition along with managing the Kangaroos, looked confident at ringside. That confident look would not last long, however, as Muldoon nearly put Costello away with the Body Lift and Throw. Heffernan made the save there but was dropkicked by Rocca moments later as Muldoon went for the submission on Costello with a double shoulder lock. Costello survived escaping the hold but it was clear that the Kangaroos were in trouble. Berry tried to interfere late in the match but was prevented from doing so by the referee. Rocca then caught Costello with a Flying Head Scissors converted into a cradle hold to score the pin. The crowd erupted in cheers as Rocca and Muldoon picked up a huge win over the former LOW World tag team champions.
7) PWI Invitational Cup Tournament – Qualifying Match: Exotic Adrian Street defeated Iron Sheik by DQ: The qualifying round of the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament continued as the Exotic Adrian Street, with Miss Linda, took on the Iron Sheik in a battle of World of Sport stars. These two have a history together as the Sheik once served as a bodyguard for Street in the old Southern Wrestling Alliance territory, a partnership that ended after a time leading to a torrid rivalry. Once this one got underway it seemed that they remembered those days back in the SWA and tore into each other. After Street missed a corner charge and fell out of the ring the Sheik followed him out to continue the fight. The Sheik was brutal in his attack on Street including tossing him into a row of chairs. Miss Linda got involved but the Sheik shoved her down drawing the ire of Street. The Sheik then grabbed a chair and slammed it over the head of Street resulting in a disqualification call by the referee. LOW officials had to be called in to escort the Sheik to the back. Miss Linda attended to Street who advances to the tournament during WrestleCade 11 weekend where he will face “The Solid Man” William Muldoon.
8) Don Leo Jonathan & Harley Race defeated John Pesek & The Terrible Turk: This rematch from the last GAW show the “Mormon Giant” Don Leo Jonathan team up with KRU star Harley Race to do battle with the “Nebraska Tiger Man” John Pesek & The Terrible Turk (Youssuf Ishmaelo). Jonathan has been outnumbered in the rivalry and he opted to recruit Race to help him out, the two having both fought and teamed with each other on the last KRU tour. Jonathan was in trouble early as Pesek caught him with the Tiger Man Toehold for a submission chance and The Turk executed the Neck Wrencher. He battled back and made the tag allowing Race to do battle with the opposition. Race and The Turk had a heated exchange which saw both men battle on the outside as well. Race later caught Pesek with a headbutt from the middle rope and tagged Jonathan who delivered the Mormon Swing for a big near fall. Pesek impressively survived that but soon found himself on the wrong end of a Piledriver from Race. The Turk ran in but Race decked him and tossed him over the top rope. That left Pesek all alone and Race quickly executed a second Piledriver to score the pin.
9) LOW International Heavyweight title: Jim Londos defeated The Sheik© by DQ: The main event saw the “Golden Greek” Jim Londos challenge The Sheik, with his manager Abdullah Farouk, for the LOW International Heavyweight title. Londos took it to The Sheik during the early part of the match nearly getting a submission with the Boston Crab. The Sheik got to the ropes for a break and then stabbed Londos in the forehead with a sharp object. That set the tone for the rest of the match as Londos had to try and fight The Sheik at his own game. The Sheik trapped him in the Camel Clutch several times but was unable to get a submission. Londos was busted open, however, and The Sheik delivered a bite to the forehead before rolling him up for a near fall. The bloody Londos had to dig down deep to stay in it but the hardcore tactics of The Sheik proved to be too much. The Sheik went to his bag of tricks and burned Londos with a Fireball resulting in a snake eyes disqualification decision. Londos won the match but not the title and was also the victim of a post-match attack until Don Leo Jonathan rushed into the ring to make the save.

The Second City was treated to an enjoyable installment of Golden Age Wrestling, headlined by a wild main event... No doubt The Sheik is just as satisfied (if not more) with a DQ loss as he would be with a win... His trademark fireball helps him retain the LOW International title regardless... Very cool that Street is advancing into the PWI Invitational tourney... I've developed a new appreciation for the Exotic One since reading about his exploits in joebreakdown's HBWA... Should be interesting to see how he fares against former LOW World champ, William Muldoon... Kowalski's captivating victory was another highlight for me personally... And you can't help but be impressed by the pairing of the Mormon Giant and Handsome Harley... Getting so close to Wrestlecade weekend, my friend... Totally stoked!

Thanks for the comments Pariah, KB and Troy. I wanted to do a golden age or vintage territory for some time and I am happy with how it is turning out. Yukon Eric over George Hackenschmidt was a big upset and a huge win for Eric. The two will have a rematch on the next GAW card prior to WrestleCade 11 weekend. The Sheik naturally resorted to his dirty bag of tricks to keep the title. It will be hard for someone to beat him for it and he does hold the title defense record for that belt. Next up is action from World of Sport. Exotic Adrian Street and the Iron Sheik do not appear but they will face each other again on the next WOS card. I agree with you, Pariah, as Street is much more than the appearance as he was one of the legit toughest wrestlers around in his day. Hope you enjoy the action...
LOW World of Sport - Pavilion Ballroom - Bournemouth, England (Card #1083)
1) Irish Airborne defeated Ares & The Grappler (2-0): The first of three-tag team matches on the card saw Irish Airborne (Jake & Dave Crist) take on Ares & The Grappler in a six-round bout with five minute rounds. Ares got the jump on Dave during the ring introductions getting round one off to a hot start. All four men saw action over the first two rounds with The Grappler looking solid. The first fall came in round three when Irish Airborne combined to hit Irish Coffee, a diving foot stomp and spike piledriver combo, on Ares with Dave scoring the pin. The Grappler tried to even it up in round four as he hit the Loaded Boot on Dave but he kicked out just before the three count. The finish came in round five as Irish Airborne took a two to nil decision when Jake hit a German Suplex followed by a Frog Splash on Ares for the pin.
2) David Taylor defeated Fritz Von Goering (1-0): A battle of hardened veterans contested over six three minute rounds saw David Taylor of England take on German star Fritz Von Goering. Taylor dominated the opening round and hit a second British Suplex to pin the shoulders of Von Goering to the mat. Von Goering was down one to nil but he came back strong ion round two dominating Taylor but he was unable to put him away. They wound up battling into the sixth and final round with Von Goering trying for the equalizing fall but Taylor played great defense and prevented that from happening. Taylor was awarded a one to nil decision after a hard fought six rounds of action.
3) Martin Stone & Fred Curry defeated Classic Connection (1-0): Martin Stone & “Flying” Fred Curry teamed up to take on the Classic Connection (Levi Shapiro & Buddy Royal) in a six-round bout with five minute rounds. This was a good bout that saw some impressive teamwork from the first time pairing of Stone and Curry. The Classic Connection matched them well and nearly won it in the third round when they hit the Bombs Away on Curry only to have Stone make the save. The pivotal moment came in round four when Curry hit the Machine Gun Dropkicks on Royal for a big near fall. An exchange followed and Stone tossed Shapiro over the top rope causing him to crash hard on the concrete floor. The referee began issuing a ten count and Shapiro, even with an assist from Royal, was unable to get back in time giving Stone and Curry a one to nil victory via count out.
4) Tommy End defeated Nigel McGuinness (1-0): A highly-anticipated match saw Tommy End out of Zaanstad, Netherlands, face Nigel McGuinness of London, England, in a six-round bout with five minute rounds. The match never got out of the first round, though, as McGuinness was disqualified for running End head first into the ring post. Prior to that End was dominating and had twice hit the spin kick on McGuinness which led to him tossing him out of the ring where the finish took place. The crowd jeered the quick finish and End stalked after McGuinness at ringside but he retreated to the locker room.
5) Dan Severn defeated Bob Roop (2-0): Former LOW World Heavyweight champion Dan Severn took on Bob Roop in six-round bout with five minute rounds. Both men were highly decorated amateur wrestlers before turning professional so there was great interest in this match. They waged a terrific battle that went the full six rounds. Severn went up one to nil in round five when a late counter led to him locking on the Wakigatame for the submission. Roop, who had his best winning opportunity in round two with the Shoulder Breaker for a big near fall, was on the defense to start round six. Severn homed in on him and just a minute into the round he caught Roop in a Choke Sleeper for the submission victory. Severn took it two falls to nil but afterward both men shook hands drawing cheers from an appreciative crowd.
6) Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Finlay (2-0): The popular Zack Sabre Jr. from Canterbury, Kent, England, had his hands full as he took on the “Belfast Bruiser” Finlay from Northern Ireland. This was a six-round match with three minute rounds. Perhaps knowing that falling on the defensive against Finlay could be disastrous, Sabre Jr. went at him full bore in round one and just before time expired he scored a pin with a Rolling Elbow. Finlay was shaken up as round two began and Sabre Jr. took advantage trapping him in the Cross Armbreaker in center ring. Finlay tried to escape but was forced to tap out just moments into the round giving Sabre Jr. a submission win. Sabre Jr. won it two to nil I only two rounds and Finlay was furious post-match threatening the referee and several WOS officials before returning to the locker room.
7) King Kong Bundy & Johnny Saint defeated One Man Gang & Marty Scurll (1-0): Big tag team action saw King Kong Bundy & Johnny Saint do battle with the One Man Gang & “The Villain” Marty Scurll. This was an eight-round bout with three minute rounds. The rivalry between Bundy and OMG, the two giants of WOS, was on full display with some heavy hitting to open the match. Bundy floored OMG and hit an elbow drop off the ropes for a two count. Saint tagged in and with OMG still on the mat he locked on the Three In One, an octopus hold, prompting Scurll to run in. The “Villain” showed no restraint as he nailed Saint with his umbrella on the back of the head. That resulted in a direct disqualification call by the referee giving Bundy and Saint a one to nil victory in the first round.
8) PWI Invitational Cup Tournament – Qualifying Match: The Destroyer defeated Jerry Lynn (1-0): The main event saw the continuation of the qualifying round in the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament as CWA star Jerry Lynn took on The “Intelligent, Sensational” Destroyer of Kings Road United. As per agreement with PWI and the LOW Board of Directors this match was held under the traditional WOS rules and was scheduled for eight five minute rounds. In the event of a draw an unlimited sudden death round would be held to decide a winner. Lynn was a substitution for Frank Gotch of Golden Age Wrestling who dropped out of the tournament to accept a rematch with LOW World Heavyweight champion Andre the Giant.
The fans were treated to a spectacular bout that went the distance. Round by round passed with both men showing off some great offense resulting in several near falls. The Destroyer made a great counter in round six as he transitioned a tilt-a-whirl headscissors by Lynn into a backbreaker for a two count. Lynn nearly went up one to nil in round seven with consecutive near falls on a sunset flip power bomb and a top rope huracanrana. With sudden death staring them in the eye as they went into round eight tied at nil to nil both men knew they needed to get the fall. It was heartbreak for Lynn as he missed a corner charge leading to a counter roll-up by The Destroyer for a two count. The Destroyer then alertly trapped Lynn in his trademark Figure Four Leglock resulting in a submission victory for the masked man. The Destroyer won it by a score of one to nil after eight rounds of action. Lynn grabbed the mic post-match congratulating The Destroyer and shaking hands with him to cheers from the crowd. The Destroyer will now go on to face Ed “Strangler” Lewis in the tournament which takes place during WrestleCade 11 weekend.

Always enjoy the unique brand of entertainment offered by World of Sport... And even though I'll have to wait for that rematch between Iron Sheik and Adrian Street, this most recent offering proved no exception to the rule... Very cool that the hard-hitting Tommy End was able to snatch up a victory over McGuinness... And both Severn and ZSJr looked extremely impressive as they took their respective opponents to task... Perhaps we could see those two ring technicians face off in the near future...
Too bad Jerry Lynn failed to qualify for the PWI Invitational... But, The Destroyer showed great determination and his first round bout against 'Strangler' Lewis won't disappoint...
Excellent stuff, as always!

Exotic Adrian Street and The Destroyer winning their PWiT Qualifiers is pretty good stuff and I'm looking forward to the PWiT to start, then seeing Fritz Von Goering losing was a disappointment. The Highlight for me is King Kong Bundy & Johnny Saint over One Man Gang & Marty Scurll, which is a very unique display of different styles in one match...
