Hey gang! I promised to say a few words about LEGENDS online so here's what I've got so far---
The game is coming along great! We're looking to release in February. Some delicious tidbits:
We'll be using cool photos for wrestlers which will set LEGENDS online apart from our tabletop version. Also, look for minor tweaks on the card stats for some wrestlers based on many months and in most cases many years of game use.
We'll be offering the wrestlers in sets just like we do for the tabletop game. The first time out we'll offer three sets, the number of wrestlers and the price TBD. My best guess is you'll have around 60 wrestlers available plus a FREE bonus wrestler if you purchase ALL 3 sets!
Well, make that 2 FREE bonus wrestlers, one is legit, a new wrestler and the other is FUN FUN FUN, one of those obscure silly things I like to do!
We'll take the wrestling world by storm when we launch LEGENDS online and then we'll release new sets on a regular basis, just like for our tabletop game!
At the moment we can't release ALL our wrestlers in the tabletop game for our online sim due to the written agreements they signed plus the availability of photos we can use. Plus we want to have something to release later this year!
More good news--- You'll be able to create your own wrestlers and also you'll have all the cool features available with COTGonline like the stat tracker, etc.
LEGENDS ONLINE WILL ROCK! What a fun way to play a Legends fed. We've got SO MANY wrestlers in the game that you could run a separate fed online and another one using the tabletop cards. That's what I plan to do!
That's my announcement for now. I'll be back with more in the days and weeks ahead!
SEE YOU AT THE ONLINE SIM MATCHES!
ps- Everything stated above is subject to change as we move forward...but these are our plans right now.

That is absolutely awesome news. What a way to kick off 2010!
This might just be the year that Legends' sales overtakes COTG sales!

Sounds like LOWonline will be a fun alternative way to play the game. As far as the minor "tweaks" to existing cards, will those be made public for the cardstock players also? If existing cards need adjusting, it would be nice to be able to get that news also being a cardstock player.....

It's like how on COTGOnline they have character progression between years. Those tweaks aren't made on cardstock. THis'll probably just be another reason to sign up for LOWOnline!

I see what you are saying, but I guess I don't really get it. In GWF, it seemed more like they would be like career progressions where a guy would get better or worse as his career went on. And they produced cards for them that people would purchase in new expansions of the game. LOW to me, the cards are more produced as an overview of a wrestler's career in general. The way it sounds to me that certain cards weren't performing to the desired level they were designed to do so. And this is based on 6-7 years of playtesting them, so they feel that some mnor changes need to be made to make them perform as they were designed to. If FG is doing that, I would hope they would not leave the cardstock community out of that adjustment. Especially by using the cardstock is where all the research and playtesting was done to make these decisions.
I know I am probably fighting a losing battle against technology, and I am sure I am not the only one that prefers card/dice game to a computer game. I am just concerned, while LOWonline is exciting and a new way to play a game we all love, it could generate a split among the community with the cardstock vs the LOWonline people, as far as some members get card adjustment and exclusive cards, and some people don't, etc. The game was based on a card and dice system, and I am hoping they keep us "old school" LOW players in the gaming loop as time goes on.

The game was based on a card and dice system, and I am hoping they keep us "old school" LOW players in the gaming loop as time goes on. Not to get into a war here, but I agree that cardstock is my preffered method and it is the original way of playing and I hope that one to three years from now the cardstocks with LOW are not gone alltogether. I know that people work to get wrestlers signed and that it costs to get this stuff done, but it just seems that the computer age is removing us further away from the game that Tom made and is so much better with real dice and not some computer rolling them for you. In the end I hope that we will continue to have official cardstock cards, but I can see that being proccessed out with many liking the online over cardstock and that would be a shame...

Those of us who choose to prefer online to dice and paper haven't had LoW as an option at all. We've been "excluded" for several years. If they ever release a card-only wrestler, some of us may have to do without him. It's a choice we make.

It works both ways and Filsinger Games needs a middle ground for all and not to alienate one side or another, simple fact that we're paying customers who want to enjoy the game either with cardstock or digital, there must be a middle ground...
