Merchandise I Bought
PWG Sells Out 2 (a 3 disc set)
PWG's Guerre Sans Frontieres (Bryan Danielson's last PWG show where he won the title from Chris Hero)
PWG's Against the Grain
(I got all of those PWG DVDs for only $30!)
Ring of Honor's Survival of the Fittest 2007 (I bought it for only $5 and it's the ROH show from here in Las Vegas on the Strip I went to almost 2 1/2 years ago- while watching it last night I repeatedly saw myself sitting in the front row)
Gotch: An American Hero (a book about LOW's Frank Gotch)
a Kurt Russellmania t-shirt at PWG's Kurt Russellmania show on Saturday night (I was really hoping they would be selling their gorilla logo t-shirt again, but no dice. However, I really do like my new Kurt Russellmania t-shirt).
Some pictures of the wrestlers to sign such as Kai, Bruno Sammartino, Stan Hansen, Terri Runnels, and the Great Muta because there aren't LOW cards for them to sign- but they sold those pictures for 4/$10 so it was a good deal
Day by Day Highlights
Friday
Meeting up with Toasterboy and later Cman in the lobby of the LAX Hilton, I'm really lucky to have good friends like these two!
Seeing Necro Butcher in the lobby and having him sign my LOTF card (he told me he might have been drunk when he won the tournament at Galacticon- but he also said he won it fair because what he said to me is he might cheat in the ring but he never cheats when he plays COTG/Legends)
Getting that awesome $30 deal for those PWGs that would have cost me $50 online (I now think the guy might of made a mistake in selling me PWG Sells Out 2 for only $15 and including it in the buy 3 PWG DVDs for only $30 deal, but there isn't anything I can do about his error- I did ask him at the time for confirmation about my total price).
Getting to meet Kirby for the first time!
Making 2 LOW/LOTF signings!
the ROH show (it wasn't as good as the PWG show Kurt Russellmania the next night, but it was still good. One of my favorite moments was after the bottom rope broke and, as they had to delay the show to fix it, Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, Human Tornado, Kevin Steen, and this referee were all involved in a dance off incident. I also thought it was hilarious when Zbyszko defeated Scotty Too Hotty after a fast count by special referee Johnny Fairplay. Scotty Too Hotty afterward was going to do the Worm but then Colt Cabana ran in the ring and knocked down Scotty Too Hotty before doing/spoofing the Worm on him and also doing/spoofing the Stinkface- Rikishi was a vendor guest at WrestleReunion 4 last weekend- on Fairplay).
Standing in the line with Cman at the hotel's cafe at about 1:45 AM. Behind us is PWG's Christina Von Eerie who says she just needs one more beer before they stop selling it at 2:00- but she didn't have her mohawk up (I live here in Las Vegas, so at first I completely forgot what "last call" was before last weekend in California) and in front of us is Adam Pearce and his entourage- it was really mostly just wrestlers and me and cman in this cafe at the time. Pearce gets to the front of the line and calls out to this chick who is saving a table for him to see if she wants a sandwich- at another table Joey Ryan then shouts out to Pearce "Yeah she wants a sandwich!" ;D and Pearce then yells "Shut up Joey!"
Saturday
Breakfast of Champions. Bruno Sammartino, Stan Hansen, and Larry Zbyszko all get on stage and start taking Q and A. Zbyszko was hilarious- he said he could kick Randy Orton's ass, that nobody ever took him to his limit in the ring, and even he gets annoyed when watching his infamous stalling techniques at the start of an AWA match on ESPN Classics.
Getting 5 more LOW/LOTF signings- including my "elevator signing"- and hopefully setting up one potentially HUGE LOW signing by giving someone Tom's contact info after he requested it- but you can't tell by the online schedule for WrestleReunion who I signed up what day (Toasterboy also got some signings too over the weekend- so it really was a great weekend for ANYONE who plays LOW and LOTF).
The elevator. At one point me, Cman, and Toasterboy's wife were on the elevator when suddenly before the doors close Rob Van Dam comes into our elevator too. And it turns out the elevator is messed up. The elevator makes a stop and Toasterboy's wife figures it out and gets out on her correct floor to get something for Toasterboy leaving me, Cman, and RVD confused in the elevator because the digital display said we were suddenly on the 11th floor. RVD: "How did we get to the 11th floor without stopping at 10?" And then the elevator moves up again but this time is says we're actually down at a floor like 7. Cman finally figured it our for us and said the display is messed up and that the signs outside of the elevator doors are correct and he got out on the 6th floor and me and RVD then laughed about this as went up to the rooms on our floors.
The elevator, again. I stayed on the 10th floor and it turns out most of the ROH ad PWG rosters were also on the 10th floor (at one point Austin Aries and Kenny King went into the hotel room- 1047- to visit someone right next to my room 1048 as I was standing outside my room about to swipe my card key. On Saturday late morning/early afternoon, I actually got on the elevator the same time as Chris Hero and he remembered me from when we met last summer at PWG. On the elevator he talked about how much he liked Wolf and Spike from COTG and then asked me to show him where he needed to go to get to the fanfest area. How cool is that?
The elevator, once again. I can't mention the name because this is where I made one of my 5 signings last Saturday. But the night before I got on the elevator and this one wrestler suddenly jumped on with me at about 1:00 AM and I felt awful because I thought I blew a great opportunity to make an awesome signing (I didn't have my cards or my release forms on me at the time). But then once again on Saturday this very same wrestler suddenly jumps on the elevator with me again (yeah, what are the odds?) and this time I have everything with me I need. He said yes to signing while in the elevator but then the elevator stops and my cards slide out of my hands onto the elevator floor. I thought I just lost another chance to sign him, but instead of walking off this wrestler stayed and held the elevator doors open for me while I picked up my cards and then signed up! How cool is that?
The voice impersonations hosted by Bill Apter while we were standing in line for autographs. The guys who did the Macho Man and Jesse Ventura were the best (if I closed my eyes I actually would have thought Randy Savage and Ventura were in the same room). The guy who impersonated Silento Rodriguez also nailed it too. But one guy didn't quite get it as he went up there to do CM Punk and (on Sunday) Chris Jericho- he said their words correctly but didn't seem to understand he also needed to change his voice to make himself sound like the guys he was impersonating- although, while he was doing Punk, Colt Cabana (Punk's former tag team partner when they were the Second City Saints) walked by and said "Punk! You've changed, you've changed!"). Toasterboy suggested doing a vintage wrestler whose voice not many know like Frank Gotch for the voice impersonations and I joked that I should go up there and do LOW's the Terrible Turk- after all without any audio of him, nobody could say I didn't sound like the Terrible Turk ;D).
PWG's Kurt Russellmania. PWG is my favorite Indy fed and just going to this show all by itself would have made for an awesome weekend. It was great seeing guys like RVD, Jushin Liger, Great Muta, Kai, and Super Crazy wrestle against PWG wrestlers inside a PWG ring. It was also great seeing Brian Kendrick and Paul London reunited (London came out to save Kendrick after the Young Bucks turned on him) and getting the win over the Young Bucks! And, as mentioned previously, Kirby did an awesome job as the guest ring announcer for PWG's Jushin Liger- El Generico match!
Getting to meet Brian Kendrick (he signed our LOW cards and I got my picture taken with him) again after the PWG show and giving him his new Legends card. Again, as I mentioned on another thread, Kendrick said he liked his card and I was pretty excited about this since I'm the one who signed Kendrick back in August shortly after he got released from the WWE.
Late Saturday night in the hotel lobby. After the PWG show and after getting to meet with Brian Kendrick once again,
me and Cman went to the hotel bar for some drinks and then we went to the hotel lobby so I could print out the boarding pass for my flight the following day. While we were there, probably the biggest name I signed up to LOW last weekend (that signing happened earlier in the day) was at the front desk and he motioned for me to come over and talk to him.
Newly-Signed LOW Wrestler: "I gave you my address, right?" (the only thing he asked when he signed up 12 hours earlier was that Filsinger Games send him a copy of his card when it gets released).
Mr. Vegas: "Yeah, I got it."
Newly-Signed LOW Wrestler (excitedly): "How soon will I get my card?"
(it's always great when someone says yes to singing with Legends, but it's even better when they are so enthusiastic about it as a number of my signings have been)
Basically I told him that it might be a little while since there was just a Legends set released in December but that I had also talked to someone at Fed HQ (Tournament Master) on the phone after singing him up and it sounded like from that conversation his card might get released in the next LOW set. The Newly-Signed LOW Wrestler seemed cool with that information.
Mr. Vegas (after this new LOW wrestler leaves) "He really wants his card."
Cman: "I know."
Sunday
I was only able to hang out for a couple of hours before having to leave for LAX to catch my flight back to Las Vegas. But I did get one extremely huge name to tell me that he might not be able to sign with LOW now but he would like to do so in the future (I won't/can't mention the name, but it would be a headliner and we left on an amicable note- I really think someday he is going to sign with LOW, I really sincerely believe it).
Next year WrestleReunion 5 will also take place in Los Angeles. Hopefully more members of our online community can come and have fun with me, Toasterboy, Cman, and Kirby!
