Heartland Championship Wrestling proudly presents:February 27, 2021
Sportatorium, Dallas, Texas The show opens with the tune, "Learn To Fly" by The Foo Fighters playing overhead. EPICDAVE appears at the top of the stairway at the Sportatorium. The fans cheer, then ERUPT with joy as EpicDave is joined by DUSTY RHODES. Rhodes is clearly in pain as he waves to the fans, but he is smiling from ear to ear. EpicDave and Big Dust arrive at the ringside announcer's table and take the headphones.EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to
Heartland Havoc CII: Learning To Fly! The Sportatorium here in Dallas has been the site of many legendary matches throughout the history of wrestling, and tonight the tradition continues. I am so proud to be part of this occasion- and I am privileged to have with me the one and only American Dream! Unfortunately, Dream is still on the shelf with rib injuries sustained at the hands of
LEX LUGER, so he won't be wrestling tonight, but it is a joy to have you here on commentary.
Dusty: Thank you very much, my friend. Wrestling in Dallas is like nothing else on God's green earth, and I wouldn't miss this for a broken neck! Luger- you did your damage, but when I get healed up, I am comin' for you, big man. And that's all I am gonna say about that. Let's see some rasslin'!
EpicDave: And we have plenty of wrestling on tap here tonight!
RIC FLAIR is here in Dallas to defend the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship against
RANDY SAVAGE in tonight's Main Event! Plus, the
NWA World Tag Team Championship is on the line as well as three more title matches. Relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!
PWMA Heavyweight Championship: #1 Contender's MatchSTEVE 'DR. DEATH' WILLIAMS vs. TED DIBIASETwo close friends squared off in the opener with a title shot on the line. Williams controlled most of the action with his power, hammering DiBiase with lariats and suplexes. DiBiase found no respite on the arena floor, as Williams reversed an attempted Irish Whip and sent DiBiase careening into the ring steps. DiBiase barely beat the ten count back into the ring, where Williams delivered a massive Press Slam and picked up the win.
WINNER: 'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMSEpicDave: Well done, Dr. Death! Steve Williams is now the Number One Contender to the
Pro Wrestling Mid-America Heavyweight Championship! He will have the opportunity to battle
BOBO BRAZIL for that prestigious title.
Dusty: Bobo and Doc? That's gonna be a battle of the bulls, baby!
EpicDave: You got that right, Dream. Next up we are gonna see a Grudge Match between two guys that just plain do not like each other!
Grudge Match: No DisqualificationBOB BACKLUND (w/PEDRO MORALES) vs. DENNIS CONDREY (w/'DR. D' DAVID SCHULTZ)The mood was tense as the rivals squared off. Condrey was itching for a fight, but Backlund took Condrey to the mat and clamped on a series of painful submission holds! Backlund went for the pin early with a Rolling Backbridge, but Condrey kicked out. David Schultz tried to interfere on behalf of Condrey, but Pedro Morales pulled Schultz off the apron and leveled Schultz with a big left hand! Backlund rolled Condrey into a Crossface Chicken Wing in the center of the ring! Condrey fought the pain for a time, then finally tapped out.
WINNER: BOB BACKLUNDAfter the submission, Backlund refused to release the hold! Condrey continued to tap, and the referee pleaded with Backlund to relent. Morales rolled into the ring and yelled to Backlund, but Backlund refused to yield. Finally, Schultz entered the ring and stomped on the back of Backlund's head to force the break. Morales threatened to slug Schultz again, but Schultz quickly knelt down to tend to his fallen partner and Morales dropped his fists.EpicDave: What the hell was that?
Dusty: EpicDave, my man, I been there. Sometimes the intensity and the anger gets to you and you do something you may regret.
EpicDave: It's the passion of the wrestling business! And there is no place like Texas to see how hot-blooded the action can get. And now, fans- our first title match of the night!
Atlantic Tag Team ChampionshipTHE ROAD WARRIORS (c) vs. THE FLYING REDHEADSThe Redheads gave the Warriors all they could handle in a marathon tag match. Lyons was in trouble early as Animal overpowered him for a couple of near-falls. But Lyons survived and made the desperation tag. Bastien battled Hawk and managed to keep the big man off balance, then Bastien clamped on a sleeperhold that nearly put Hawk's lights out! But Hawk managed to tag in Animal, who took over on both opponents. Animal threw Lyons out of the ring and administered a nasty beating, despite Bastien's attempts to intervene. Hawk recuperated enough to annihilate Bastien with a running boot on the floor, leaving Lyons to fend for himself. Lyons didn't last long, and Animal put him away with a Powerslam to earn the pinfall.
WINNERS AND STILL ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIORSEpicDave: Wow! That was a tremendous battle. The Redheads really hung tough with the Warriors.
Dusty: That went a lot longer than I thought it would. I been in the ring with dem Warriors- and I been across the ring, too- and nobody hits harder than Animal and Hawk.
EpicDave: Give credit to Lyons and Bastien- they made a battle of it! Next up, fans- a title match from right here in the PWMA!
PWMA Southland Heavyweight ChampionshipTHE GREAT MUTA (c) vs. JOE BLANCHARDThe bad blood between these two was obvious from the beginning. Blanchard was ready to throw hands, and he came after Muta with lefts and rights with a vengeance. Muta was up to the test, and he used his quickness to keep Blanchard at bay. Muta survived a couple of pin attempts from Blanchard, then Muta exploded with a Spinning Back Kick to put Blanchard on the canvas. Like a flash, Muta was on the top turnbuckle and flew onto Blanchard with a Moonsault for the pin!
WINNER: THE GREAT MUTA
THE GREAT MUTA RETAINS THE SOUTHLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPAfter the fall, GARY HART encouraged Muta to continue his assault on the fallen Blanchard. Muta loaded up the red mist, but Blanchard rolled out of the ring and escaped to safety.EpicDave: A magnificent flurry by Muta to pull out the win after a very tough match.
Dusty: And Joe Blanchard was lucky to escape with his face in one piece. That red mist will burn a man like acid. Gary Hart is a ruthless man and Muta ain't afraid to do whatever Hart pays him to do.
EpicDave: So Blanchard is safe- but the PWMA remains Muta's playground. Now, fans- we take you to our next title match- and this one will be a most intriguing confrontation!
Atlantic Heavyweight ChampionshipBARRY WINDHAM (c) vs. CURT HENNIGThe trash talk between Windham and Hennig started early and continued throughout this back-and-forth battle.
JAMES J. DILLON accompanied Windham to ringside and kept a close eye on the action. Hennig took control early with a Hennig Plex for a two-count, then clamped on a Sleeper Hold! Windham was staggered, and sensing trouble, Dillon climbed onto the ring apron. But to the shock of the fans,
SO CAL VAL & RICK RUDE came to ringside! Rude pulled Dillon off the apron, and Val slapped him! Windham flew into a rage and went after Rude and Hennig at ringside. The battle picked up when
ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLANCHARD joined in the fracas to support Windham. Given the numbers advantage, the Horsemen prevailed in the brawl, but both men were counted out and the match was declared a 'No Contest'.
REFEREE'S DECISION: NO CONTEST
BARRY WINDHAM RETAINS THE ATLANTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPEpicDave: How about THAT?!? The battle lines have been drawn here tonight! Curt Hennig is not going to let this championship opportunity go to waste- he has hired So Cal Val to watch his back!
Dusty: He done sold his soul to dat floosy woman- but JJ Dillon and the Horsemen never saw it coming! That looked like a Saturday Night at the neighborhood honky tonk!
EpicDave: There will be a rematch between those two- and they can't wait to get back after each other! All right, fans- speaking of brawls- we're fixin' to see another one right here in Dallas- with the
NWA World Tag Team Championship on the line!
NWA World Tag Team ChampionshipTHE STEINER BROTHERS (c) vs, DICK THE BRUISER & THE CRUSHERIt was a slobberknocker from the word 'go' as the Steiners hooked up with Bruiser & Crusher. All four men punched themselves silly, and the arena floor saw more action than the ring itself. Both teams pounded and pummeled one another, but the tide turned when Bruiser nailed Rick Steiner with a wicked knee smash to the side of the head. Rick went loopy, and Bruiser went to the top rope for a massive Knee Drop and a clean pinfall victory!
WINNERS AND NEW NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: DICK THE BRUISER & THE CRUSHEREpicDave: Fans- we have a winner- and new
NWA World Tag Team Champions! Congratulations to
DICK THE BRUISER & THE CRUSHER! They are once again the champions!
Dusty: Nobody can clubber like Da Bruiser and Da Crusher! That was a good old-fashions Texas throwdown right there!
EpicDave: These teams have had a long and storied rivalry- and deep down inside, they love to fight each other. But tonight- Bruiser and Crusher have come out on top and they are gonna take home the gold!
Dusty: I don't know about that, EpicDave. Those boys are gonna take the gold out for a night on the town. It may be a week or two before Bruiser and Crusher find their way home.
EpicDave: You got that right, Dream. And now, fans- it is time for your Main Event- for the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship!Main Event: NWA World Heavyweight ChampionshipRIC FLAIR (c) vs. RANDY SAVAGEIt was a classic battle between Flair and Savage, with a dose of JJ Dillon thrown in. Flair pounded Savage with chops, and Savage battled back with a series of jabs. Savage went on a rampage, dropping Flair with running clotheslines until Flair took out Savage's left knee with a vicious clip. Flair worked over the knee of the Macho Man until Savage could barely stand. Savage dug deep and pitched Flair out of the ring. Savage went for broke, launching himself onto Flair with a flying double axe-handle onto the arena floor! Flair staggered back to the ring as Savage mounted the top turnbuckle, preparing for the Flying Elbow. But Dillon pulled off his shoe and whacked the wounded leg of Savage, sending the Macho Man down to the mat in pain. Flair hobbled over to Savage and locked on the Figure-Four! Savage fought the pain, but could not muster the strength to make it to the ropes. After a long struggle, Savage was forced to give it up!
WINNER: 'NATURE BOY' RIC FLAIR
RIC FLAIR RETAINS THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPEpicDave: The Nature Boy reigns supreme! Another amazing showdown between the champ and the Buckeye Bowl winner. Once again, Flair takes a pounding and finds a way to come out on top.
Dusty: Flair is the dirtiest player in the game- but he is a double-tough son of a gun. It's gonna take a helluva man to knock him off the throne.
EpicDave: I can't argue with that, Dream. Congratulations to the Nature Boy for a big win here tonight to continue his reign as
NWA World Heavyweight Champion. And congratulations to all of tonight's winners! All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking us out tonight! It has been a privilege to bring you this broadcast of
