It's a new year for the Heartland, and a new adventure for Atlantic Championship Wrestling as we embark on a tour of the Southeastern Conference! Tonight, we have come to the wonderful campus of Louisiana State University and the house that PETE MARAVICH built for a very special show to kick off the new year. BOBO BRAZIL has come to Baton Rouge to defend the Dixie Heavyweight Championship- but he is going to have a tall task ahead as LOU THESZ wants a piece of that gold. That will be an outstanding Main Event- and there is plenty of great action from start to finish. So relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!

THE FLYING REDHEADS (BILLY 'RED' LYONS*** & RED BASTIEN*****) defeated KEVIN SULLIVAN*** & CACTUS JACK when Bastien pinned Sullivan with the Atomic Drop

An amazing comeback by the Redheads! Sullivan and Cactus, former World Tag Team Champions, took control of this match early and looked to be cruising to victory. Sullivan busted open Bastien with a foreign object, but Lyons hit the ring and held his own for several minutes while Bastien recovered. When Bastien returned to the ring, he took over on Sullivan and outwrestled him for the pin!


MAIN EVENT: DIXIE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
LOU THESZ** pinned BOBO BRAZIL**** (c) with the Thesz Press

In a sublime encounter of contrasting styles, Thesz and Brazil went back and forth for nearly 20 minutes. Brazil controlled much of the action with his power, but Thesz was able to avoid major damage with several well-executed reversals. Thesz finally was able to turn the momentum in his favor, wearing down Bobo and taking him off-balance to set up the Thesz Press for the victory.

LOU THESZ CAPTURES THE DIXIE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: Congratulations to LOU THESZ- your new Dixie Heavyweight Champion! And a deserving champion indeed. He was masterful tonight in surviving the power of Bobo and open the path to victory. The show opens with the tune, "Poison" by Alice Cooper playing overhead. VELVET SKY burst through the curtain and makes her way down the aisle, high-fiving the fans along the way. The Arena is packed with fans, and Velvet is bubbling with excitement as she hits the ring.

Velvet: Heartland- WHAT IS UP?!?!? I am HYPED to be here! Winter is long… and boring… and basically SUCKS- but the Hardcore Honeys of Heartland Championship Wrestling are here in the Second City to defeat the doldrums and hopefully not destroy each other in the process. KELLY KLEIN and NICOLE MATTHEWS are gonna do their best to tear each other in two in tonight's Main Event as they battle it out again for the Heartland Ladies' Championship. I can't wait to see these two knock heads again- so let's take care of business!


HOLIDEAD* pinned CANDICE LERAE** with Darkness Falls


TRISH ADORA pinned JENNACIDE** with the Lariat Tubman


VIVIAN*** & LUNA* VACHON defeated CHEERLEADER MELISSA*** & MSCHIF**** by countout when Vivian sent MsChif hurtling into the ring steps

After the countout, MsChif and Vivian continued to battle. MsChif beat the stuffings out of Vivian and dropped Vivian headfirst onto the arena floor with a DDT, leaving her laying as MsChif stormed away from the ring in frustration.

Velvet: That's a disappointing debut for MsChif and Melissa. They are trying to get a Tag Team championship for Melissa- and this may be her final run. It's not gonna help them to start with a loss.


IVELISSE pinned DEBBIE MALENKO* with the Desert Eagle


JESSICKA HAVOK* pinned JACQUELINE***** after a Triple Kick Combo

It was a slugfest between Jessicka and Jacqueline, but the striking abilities of Jessicka wore down Jacqueline and set the stage for Jessicka to bring home the victory.

After the contest, JOANIE LAURER pulled Jessicka out of the ring and slammed Jessicka's head onto the ring apron! Joanie had Jessicka set up for a power bomb onto the arena floor- but out of nowhere, COURTNEY RUSH sprinted to ringside and dove onto Joanie! Joanie went after Courtney, and Courtney slid into the ring and waved her arms at Joanie to bring the fight.

Velvet: Wow! Courtney Rush is here! Full face paint and everything! That is one spooky woman- and she is calling out Joanie for a match! Let's get a referee out here and take care of business!


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
JOANIE LAURER** pinned COURTNEY RUSH*** with a Power Bomb

Joanie was definitely spooked by the appearance and bizarre mannerisms of Courtney. Courtney came at Joanie without fear, and actually managed to do some damage before Joanie caught her and put her down with a massive Power Bomb. By this point, Jessicka had recovered enough to pull Courtney out of the ring to safety before Joanie could escalate the attack.

Velvet: Joanie Laurer is a beast! She is so big and strong. Give credit to Courtney for getting in the ring with her- but she is lucky she didn't get annihilated!


HEARTLAND LADIES' TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
THE ALLURE (ANGELINA LOVE* & MANDY LEON) defeated THE KIMBER BOMBS (CHERRY BOMB**** & KIMBER LEE*) when Angelina pinned Cherry with the Botox Injection



MAIN EVENT: HEARTLAND LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP
NICOLE MATTHEWS* pinned KELLY KLEIN***** (c) with the Vancouver Maneuver

The rematch between Kelly and Nicole took a completely different turn from the original. Nicole wrestled smartly, keeping Kelly at a distance to prevent the champion from engaging her power game. Nicole weaved in enough taunting to frustrate Kelly further, and Kelly walked into a DDT from Nicole to set up the finish.

NICOLE MATTHEWS REGAINS THE HEARTLAND LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP

Velvet: Wow! Nicole won the belt back! I mean- nobody likes that girl- but she wrestled great tonight and she actually managed to win fair and square. But we haven't seen the end of Nicole vs. Kelly- they will have a final showdown with 2 out of 3 falls to decide the championship once and for all. It's anybody's title to win! That's it for tonight, Heartland- thanks for another awesome night of wrestling here in Chicago! Heartland will be back on Wednesday night with the bad boys of Patriot Championship Wrestling going into battle up in Montreal. Brrr! It may be cold in the Great White North, but the action will melt the ice caps when SGT. SLAUGHTER battles his bitter rival, JOHNNY VALENTINE for the North American Heavyweight Championship. EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to Heartland Championship Wrestling! We are so proud to be here in the beautiful city of Toronto for an exciting night of competition, featuring the superstars of Patriot Championship Wrestling. The Main Event tonight is going to be spectacular- featuring the growing rivalry between SGT. SLAUGHTER and JOHNNY VALENTINE as they battle it out for the North American Heavyweight Championship. Plus- we have a couple of Grudge Matches lined up tonight- which means the 6ix is in for an incredible night. So relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!


JIMMY SNUKA & BRUISER BRODY defeated THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS (ROY HEFFERNAN & AL COSTELLO) by disqualification after a brawl on the arena floor


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
BUTCH REED pinned BORIS ZHUKOV*** after a Clothesline

Reed made short work of Zhukov in the Grudge Match, but it wasn't pretty. Reed busted open Zhukov with a beer bottle before pinning him cleanly, as his partner RON SIMMONS prevented the interference of JOHN NORD.


JAY & MARK BRISCOE defeated ARN ANDERSON* & TULLY BLANCHARD (with JAMES J. DILLON) by disqualification after Blanchard struck Jay with a Foreign Object

It was a terrific battle between the Briscoes and Dillon Enterprises. Action was back-and-forth for a number of minutes until the match deteriorated into a four-way brawl. Jay was going to town on Anderson when Blanchard took a shoe from Dillon and whacked Jay across the back of the head! Jay went down, and Anderson made the cover, but RICKY 'THE DRAGON' STEAMBOAT sprinted to ringside to inform the referee of the infraction. The referee saw Dillon's shoe in the ring, and with the power of deductive reasoning, the referee determined that a violation had occurred and called for the disqualification.

After the decision, Dillon and Blanchard exchanged glares with Steamboat, but referees quickly intervened and sent Dillon and his men back to the dressing room area.


RICKY 'THE DRAGON' STEAMBOAT** pinned THE SPOILER* with the Flying Body Press

Steamboat and Spoiler squared off in a high-stakes qualifying match. But before they even locked up, TULLY BLANCHARD dashed back to ringside and back-jumped Steamboat! Steamboat was knocked to the ground, and both Blanchard and Spoiler began putting the boots to him. Without warning, RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON sprinted to the ring and jumped on Spoiler and Blanchard! Blanchard slid out of the ring and Spoiler retreated to the corner as the Rock 'N Rolls helped Steamboat to his feet. Steamboat joined the Rock 'N Rolls in flashing the JUSTICE 4 ALL hand gesture and the crowd cheered wildly as order was restored.

EpicDave: Wow! TULLY BLANCHARD and RICKY STEAMBOAT are on a collision course- and the hostilities continue to escalate. But Steamboat had a great night tonight- he got one over on Tully and he took a step forward in his quest for a title shot. Fans- Steamboat isn't the only man on a mission right now. 'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER is here in Patriot Championship Wrestling- and he is looking to battle the legends of the business, beginning here tonight in Toronto!


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER defeated STAN STASIAK***** by KO with a Bulldog onto the arena floor

Piper came into battle accompanied by MARK HENRY to watch his back. ANGELO MOSCA seconded Stasiak, but no outside interference was necessary as Piper and Stasiak threw down. Stasiak got some good shots in, but Piper caught Stasiak in the Sleeper Hold and nearly put Stasiak's lights out. Stasiak managed to escape to the arena floor, but when Piper bulldogged Stasiak on the arena floor, Stasiak never woke up.


MAIN EVENT: NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
JOHNNY VALENTINE (w/JAMES J. DILLON) pinned SGT. SLAUGHTER* (c) after Slaughter crashed into the exposed turnbuckle

Emotions ran high as Slaughter and Valentine renewed their rivalry with the North American title on the line. Sarge came after Valentine with the heavy artillery, pounding on the challenger with forearms and boots which put Valentine on the defensive. Valentine was forced to retreat to the arena floor for a strategy session with Dillon. Upon returning to the ring, Valentine greeted Slaughter with a gouge to the eyes! Slaughter was blinded and staggered away.

EpicDave: Oh, for heaven's sake. What was THAT?

As Slaughter staggered around the ring, Valentine removed the padding from the nearest turnbuckle. Slaughter came at Valentine with a running clothesline, but Dillon alertly pulled Valentine aside and Slaughter crashed hard into the exposed buckle! Slaughter collapsed to the mat, and Valentine quickly covered him for the three count!

JOHNNY VALENTINE WINS THE NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: You cannot be serious. Ladies and gentlemen, JOHNNY VALENTINE has won the North American Heavyweight Championship- and congratulations to him for this accomplishment. Having said that, I am disgusted by what we have witnessed here tonight in Toronto. Valentine is an accomplished wrestler- on par with anyone in this territory- and yet he resorts to such underhanded tactics to win the championship. I suppose I should not be surprised, given his association with that piece of human filth, JAMES J. DILLON. But the deed is done, and Valentine is your new champion. But let's not forget to pay homage to SGT. SLAUGHTER as he comes to the end of a remarkable run as North American Champion. Sarge has defended that title proudly for 435 days! That is a memorable accomplishment, in spite of the dubious situation that led to his defeat this evening. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking us out tonight! Heartland will be back on Saturday night with a full night of action from the Atlantic Wrestling Federation. It will be an exciting time in the state of Missouri as DUSTY RHODES battles ANTONIO INOKI in a Number One Contender's Match for the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. We have a terrific show lined up- including a crucial Main Event as DUSTY RHODES takes on ANTONIO INOKI in a Number One Contender's Match for the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. The winner of that match will move on to the pay-per-view broadcast of Heartland Havoc CXX: Thunderstruck in Dallas, two weeks from tonight. Plus, BRIAN PILLMAN has recruited a mystery partner tonight to battle MR. FUJI & MR. SAITO in a No Disqualification Grudge Match. EpicDave: A big win for the faction known as JUSTICE 4 ALL. It certainly helped Blackjack to have WAHOO MCDANIEL at ringside to keep his eye on Bobby Heenan. All right, fans- a few weeks back, we saw TOM ZENK suffer a nasty injury at the hands of MR. SAITO. Well, that didn't sit well with Zenk's Partner, BRIAN PILLMAN- so Pillman has challenged Fuji and Saito to a Tag Team Grudge Match tonight, and he has a mystery partner lined up to have his back for this confrontation.

The fans in the arena clap and cheer anxiously as Pillman makes his entrance. The crowd then erupts when JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER joins Pillman on the ramp and they march to the ring together.


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
MR. FUJI* & MR. SAITO defeated BRIAN PILLMAN & JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER**** when Fuji pinned Liger after a Twisting Back Head Butt

Despite their experience as partners in Japan, Pillman and Liger just didn't have great chemistry together. Fuji and Saito executed frequent tags and brutal double-teams. Fuji and Saito showed particular contempt for Liger, isolating him in their own corner of the ring for a horrific pummeling before Fuji scored the pin.

As Liger and Pillman left the ring area, an enraged Pillman jumped Liger from behind! Pillman beat down Liger and left him laying as the fans booed.

EpicDave: Wow- the frustration finally boiled over in the mind of Brian Pillman. After losing one partner and having a second partner disappoint him, Pillman finally snapped and the Loose Cannon took over.


MAIN EVENT: ATLANTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP- #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
DUSTY RHODES defeated ANTONIO INOKI********* by countout after slamming Inoki back-first into the ring apron

The highly anticipated Number One Contender's Match turned into a one-sided shellacking as Rhodes took Inoki behind the woodshed. The brawling and toughness of Dusty turned Inoki to mincemeat, mercifully ending in a countout when Inoki was too beaten down to continue.


EpicDave: Unbelievable! Dusty just beat down a Japanese legend and barely broke a sweat. Congratulations to the American Dream- he is the new Number One Contender for the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship! He will go on to face NICK ALDIS for the title in two weeks at Heartland Havoc CXX: Thunderstruck in Dallas. And after what we saw from Dusty tonight, Aldis had better bring his "A" game.
