Wrestling POW Cards! MMA is cool but I prefer wrestling POW. Keep the wrestling going please and not just MMA.

When the Mad Jester debuted Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat was the match of the year. The guy has a longer shelf life than canned soup. It's probably ok for him and a lot of other ex GWF guys to finally finish up and make way for new stars. POW isn't TNA. So it's cool with me if even all time greats like MJ hang up the boots for good. Also, I totally agree about going for a straight forward MMA fed feel. I hope it's geared toward sport and the characters motivations. Make these guys want to be MMA champions because that's what they are, not because of a bunch of grudges. Of course you have to have rivalries, but a rivalry is different from a blood feud imo. I feel like the belts should be the main focus of the fed if that make sense. I don't much care about the storyline. I do my own storylines anyway. Just keep the cards available as wrestlers and I'll be satisfied. And as I recall, both Flair and Steamboat have wrestled in the WWE within the last couple of years (not sure of when Flair retired, but it was not that long ago.) And Bret Hart was recently a champion in WWE. Really no need for the pot shots at TNA. Not a shot at TNA just saying POW is not a fed who needs older guys with well known names to build itself up. My point is that Mark is a great writer who's proven he can write great new characters. No reason to keep guys who have been around for 20+ years around. And my original point was exactly what Mark said. POW like aCe and Z and Blue Classics and Birthday Bash sets etc...were meant to be temporary. The GWF and LOW will always be there. It's fair to say it's reasonable to think these other *bonus* sets were never meant to last forever. I'm just happy Mark is getting a shot to wrap up the storylines that were left hanging. Because I do care about them and I know Mark does more than anyone. And when he does I hope all the wrestling is done and gone from POW. Leave the wrestling to the GWF. Let POW become the pioneer in intergalactic MMA.

I for one would think it would make good [kayfabe]business sence[/kayfabe] for the POW to go fully MMA. I mean they will never have the ratings of the GWF in terms of wrestling, but they have the market share on becoming the top spot for mixed martial arts in the galaxy! Why compete (in wrestling) when you can become the top dog (in MMA)? Not that I don't like the POW's wrestling side (I have tried to keep it in the spirit of the original POW, so more of a hardcore - ECW esq - fed then even the CPC - which was much more like WCW), but the MMA cards have actually got me to watch real MMA fights. And I wasn't a UFC or PRIDE fan before, but because of the POW I am now.

I echo Vidtek's sentiments. As far as storyline wise it makes all the sense for POW to just be MMA. I'm less interested in the wrestling angle with POW and much more into the MMA, as it gives a different feel to it than the other feds, which for me makes it more interesting. I assume it will be easier to write stories if POW goes one direction or the other, as its tough to balance out stories that would be interesting to play out in both styles of fighting.

A - I loved the CPC and would have gotten into POW if they sold them in another means then PDF. But you have to look at from two standpoints, one which was brought up by Vidtek. It has been slowly progressing toward MMA for awhile and while the GWF is there it will never be top dog so why not go the MMA route? Two,from a marketing standpoint adding an MMA game is going to appeal to more people as its the hot thing going. Maybe this will get more people into the game and willing to try other filsinger games products.
B - Does POW still fit as a name if goes strictly MMA, I think OFC could be a better MMA fed name.
C - Hopefully this doesn't mean the end of alternate sets, I liked the CPC/ACE/GWFZ sets to throw out some more cards for you to use, its nice to have options if something doesn't work out. Like someone said an idea maybe doing both, giving the option for the player to use as wrestling cards if they wish.

I can't argue with what you're saying here.... but look for an announcement soon that addresses 1 issue that you raised. B - Does POW still fit as a name if goes strictly MMA, I think OFC could be a better MMA fed name. The fed is going to continue under the POW banner.... you'll see why. I hope that we don't see the end of non-GWF products. In some cases, you'll have a long-term series like CPC/POW. Others will be like Classics 3000, a one-shot. But each product has to find a "core" audience, and it's hard to do that if you're trying to be just like the GWF with different characters.

As I stated in the voting poll. As awesome as POW would be as MMA, I still like having the option of either wrestling or MMA. Choices are good.
But whatever Mr. Ashby decides to go with will have to be acceptable. I'm a fan either way, so it's all good.

As far as updates go, I'm hoping for changes to Zed Marlowe and JJ Smooth. I definately see J.J. turning into something of a 'party-boy', as long as he doesn't end up looking like Chris Pontius. Just the thought of that makes me a little nauseous.

With the W in POW still being relevant, maybe there might be something like a merger? After all some Z characters are going MMA, one aCe guy going POW, and another aCe guy going Z. That'd be a cool way to keep the alternate sets going. I'll be honest the aCe is the reason I fully got into this game. I played initially some with the 2087 set and the New Beginnings Set. I liked the feel of the aCe better. I'm kinda disappointed that it will probably not have an end to the direction Osk was pointing it in. I don't have the Classics 3000 set but I'd be willing to bet that it was written in a way that didn't leave you hanging for more much like the Dark Tides set did.

Well, I certainly opened up a can or worms. Based on a post from Tom on another thread and what Mark said earlier in this one, here are my predictions. Mark will use POW 2124 and possibly 2125 to wrap up existing wrestling story lines as the POW gradually moves more toward MMA and away from wrestling. Either 2125 or 2126 will be a New Beginning like restart of the POW as an all MMA federation with between 1/3 to 1/2 of the current stable leaving, possibly some to the GWF or GWFZ. Possibly we will see one or more current GWF members moving to the POW. One prediction for this is Payback, who hasn't seemed to fit in anywhere in the GWF, and has the personality for a MMA fighter.
