LOTF at PWG's 7th Anniversary!

not back full time yet, but I'm still going to this show tomorrow/today and some major changes to the card just got announced!

With Alex Shelly getting injured at a TNA taping, he won't be at this show.

Instead, Chris Sabin of the MCMGs now wrestles Dragon Gate's Akira Tozawa (who is also a current regular member of the PWG roster since he's training in Los Angeles- he's now wrestled at the past 3 PWG shows and is even listed on the PWG website roster) in a singles match and it's now a 3 way guerrilla warfare tag match for the PWG World Tag Team Championship as El Generico and Paul London now have to defend their championship against BOTH the Young Bucks and the Cutlers guerrilla warfare style!

Here is what Silverback wrote on the PWG website along with the updated listing for the show:

July 29, 2010 - With interest in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla seemingly at an all-time high heading into tomorrow's seventh anniversary event Seven, we figured it would be best if we changed things up at the last minute. You know, to keep people on their toes. To do this, we asked one half of the Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley, to somehow injure himself at the TNA Wrestling TV tapings scheduled to take place just days before Seven. We didn't care how he did it or what he injured, we just wanted an excuse to make changes to the show! Because Alex Shelley is not only a consummate professional but a top-notch team player as well, he was more than happy to oblige.

In all seriousness, at TNA Wrestling's TV taping this past Tuesday, Alex Shelley suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of action for tomorrow's event. While the severity of the injury is unknown at this time, we hope for the best and wish Alex Shelley a speedy recovery. We're sure we speak for everyone reading this that we eagerly await his return to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

With the last-minute nature of Alex Shelley's injury, we hope our fans can understand that we have been forced to make a few changes to the line-up (and if not, then that's why it says "Card Subject to Change," jerk). Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Seven is now scheduled to feature:

After driving back through the desert all night, I just got back home a little while ago from Seven- PWG's Seventh Anniversary show! No doubt about it, I've liked every PWG show I've ever attended- but this was the best PWG show I've ever seen!

When me and Cman got to the American Legion Past in Reseda, there was still over an hour before the show was scheduled to start and they already had the lines divided up between pre-sales (people like us who had already bought tickets in advance) and people who were hoping to buy any remaining tickets at the door.

One look at the lines and it was obvious lots of people were going to get turned away without getting in. But since we had front row reserved tickets, it wasn't a problem for us.
And lots of people did get turned away- there is already even a turned away at the door thread started on the PWG message board with alot of posts on it.

But to PWG's credit, they really did everything they could to accommodate as many people as possible. They even moved the merchandise table away from its accustomed spot next to the bar and placed it in the narrow entrance way next to the ticket table so they get alot more people into the building.

PWG is notorious for the drunken atmosphere provided by many of its patrons, and there were people who had already finished their first pitchers by the time I got into the door. In fact, they were already asking people to return their used pitchers before the show even started because they needed those pitchers for the long line of customers at the bar.

Match #1: Brandon Gatson, Johnny Goodtime & Candice LeRae vs Malachi "CK" Jackson, Ryan Taylor, and "Pretty" Peter Avalon

- just like last year's 6th anniversary show for PWG, this anniversary show also started off with a 6 man tag team match. Good match, although I liked last year's opener better. The first time I've ever seen Avalon wrestle, he's a student of Scott Lost and Scorpio Sky.

Match #2: Brandon Bonham defeated Brian Cage

- this was the first PWG match for Cage. Bonham won via his finisher Hammer Of The Gods.

Match #3: Akira Tozawa defeated Chris Sabin

- this was a good match too, but it's too bad Alex Shelly got injured at that recent TNA taping which forced PWG to change the card around. I've seen the Motor City Machine Guns wrestle several times now in PWG, but only in singles matches and I was hoping I'd finally get to see them wrestle live as a tag team as originally planned for this show.

4. Scott Lost's Retirement Match: Scott Lost vs. Scorpio Sky

- Scorpio Sky came out first to chants of "welcome back" as he hasn't wrestled in PWG for over a year.

- Scott Lost, for his last wrestling match ever, was serenaded with gold and purple streamers because the Lakers are his favorite team. I've seriously never seen so many streamers in
the ring at one time and I even took a picture of it (if I can remember how to post pictures from my cell phone, I'll post it.)

- Great match between Lost and his longtime nemesis and ally Sky. The end came with Lost surprisingly losing his retirement match when Sky hit him with a version of his (Lost's) own finisher THE BIG FAT KILL.

Afterward, Excalibur and a bunch of wrestlers from the back came into the ring as Lost gave his farewell speech saying that he earlier promised himself if he wasn't where he wanted to be in his wrestling career when he turned 30 that he was going to retire and since he just turned 30 a couple of months ago that he's now retiring tonight at PWG's 7th anniversary show. Very sad moment, but the match was a fitting tribute to the end of Lost's great Indy wrestling career.

Intermission

For it's anniversary show, PWG had a special of 4 DVDs for $40 which I took advantage of. But unfortunately, the deal didn't include this year's DDT4 because it was their newest release as their DIO show from June hasn't been released on DVD yet (darn you Chikara fans with your 1 day DVD turnaround releases .)

Match #5: Bryan Danielson defeated Roderick Strong.

- When Danielson entered the ring, there was alot of ties thrown in tribute. Strong placed one of the ties in his trunks which he later used in the match to choke Danielson which led to chants "You are fired!" Danielson then rolled to our side of the ring and said "Give me a tie!" Someone gave him a tie and Danielson proceeded to use it to choke out Strong which led to chants of "You are hired!" Another chant in this match were "You killed Justin" (ironically Justin Roberts actually once also worked in PWG for awhile.) Danielson won this match by getting Strong to tap out to CATTLE MUTILATION.

- Afterward, Danielson got on the microphone and basically said he sort of prefers being a wrestler (he put a special emphasis on that word) instead of a PG sports entertainer and said he's really glad to be back in PWG.

Match #6: PWG World Champion Davey Richards defeated Chris Hero

- PWG MOTN and so far PWG MOTY! And that's high praise. No question about it at all IMO!

- I could really see this match going either way, but I was glad to see Richards retain. Hero, the longest reigning champion in PWG history had a great reign from July 2008-September 2009 and he's without question one of my favorite PWG wrestlers (I got to talk to him briefly at intermission again and I wore Hero's new shirt to GalactiCal 2 weeks ago.) But I really like Davey Richards being the current PWG World Champion and I was really glad to see him keep the title.

Match #7, the main event: PWG World Tag Team Champions ¡Peligro Abejas! (El Generico & Paul London) defeated the Young Bucks and the Cutler Brothers in a 3 way tag guerrilla warfare match.

- The first guerrilla warfare match in over a year and the the first ever tag guerrilla warfare match and first ever 3 way tag guerrilla warfare match!

- Of all the times I've sat front row for PWG shows, I'm surprised I still haven't been knocked down by a wrestler when the action spills outside of the ring- lots of fans were indeed knocked out of their seats throughout this night and some even had drops of blood splattered on their clothes during this main event.

- I nearly got taken out at the beginning of this match when the Cutlers both threw Matt Jackson over the top rope right in front of me.

- But I was able to see it coming in time,

- So I grabbed my PWG DVDs,

- I grabbed my LOTF cards,

- And I got the hell out of the way in a hurry by taking a few steps back.

- Lots of chairs were destroyed in this match as all 6 wrestlers fought on all sides of the outside of the ring. I sort of hoped the Cutlers would win and I thought they might at one point when they were set to perform the CUTLER DRIVER on one of the Bucks while standing on top of steel chairs in the center of the ring, but then the other Buck made the save.

- The end of this match came when London hit his SHOOTING STAR onto both Cutlers and Matt Jackson who were all outside of the ring while El Generico gave Nick Jackson the BRAINBUSTAHH! for the win to retain the PWG World Tag Team Championship.

- Afterward, I got to talk briefly to both of the Bucks and also to Danielson, but the real highlight after the show for me was getting to talk to Roderick Strong once again.

- I was standing in line to talk to Danielson when Strong suddenly poked his head out of the curtain. I pointed at him and waved and in response Strong honestly came out to talk to me. Since I was the one who signed Roderick Strong for LOTF, Tom actually sent me 10 extra copies of Roderick Strong's card (along with my order of LOTF3) to give to Strong. So I was able to give Rodrick Strong these copies of his new LOTF card while also getting him to sign my personal copy of his card.

- After I thanked him again for signing for LOTF, I told Roderick Strong how I rolled a match recently (not an official fed result- I was just playing some unofficial/unposted house show results for fun) where he made Tyler Black tap out to the STRONGHOLD. Strong responded "It's about damn time" and then told me and Cman that (defeating ROH World Champion Tyler Black) might be a part of his actual future.

Afterward, I drove Cman home and decided to just drive all the way back to Las Vegas without crashing somewhere for the night in California because I wasn't too tired to drive.

If you buy only 1 PWG show this year (and if you only get 1 then you're missing out on some incredible Indy wrestling), so far it would definitely have to be this one!

it was actually just announced yesterday that this DVD is now in stock and is shipping

it ony took a month and a half which is actually pretty god for Highspots when it comes to DVD releases of PWG shows

since I've already seen this show of course, I'll probably just wait until I go to PWG's next show on October 9th to get this DVD

Earlier this week, Chikara's Young Lions Cup (All 3 Nights) were released on DVD...event was the same weekend as BOLA 2 1/2 weeks ago.
