How many of you pattern your COTG or LOW fed after a real life federation?
I know Mr. Vegas patterns his Major League Wrestling after WWE. Not sure about Minor League Wrestling...but he should really pattern that after PWG, as he is the biggest PWG fan on the boards.
Tim's NWF is patterned somewhat after the old NWF...not sure if the Super cards were the same names, but I know the venues are the same.
Many others have their own unique styles that don't take any major aspects from real life feds past or present.
I don't run a consistent LOW fed, but I do run some COTG feds. My GWF I have made sure not to pattern after any fed, as I wanted it to be unique. However, my GWFZ fed is set up like my favorite Indy Fed, Chikara. I have similar events: King of Trios, Young Lions Cup, Tag Team Grand Prix and Cibernetico. My tag belts work the same way (2 of 3 fall title matches and you need to win 3 consecutive matches before being able to challenge for the belts.)
How many of you take cues from a real life fed vs. having something unique?

My Lucha Libre USA fed is based off of the AAA promotion in Mexico. A lot of my fed's early angles (Konnan and Foreign Army/Legion vs. LLUSA) were taken from AAA. Made the early stuff easier to book because I had a base and knew where to go with it. Even my big four PPVs (Rey de Reyes, Verano de Escandalo, Guerra de Titanes, LuchaMania) were taken from AAA, except their version of WrestleMania is called TripleMania. Heck, most of my roster is from AAA as well.

As I said in the other thread, I very likely will be patterning my booking similar to oldschool NWA booking with a splash of newer-school Chikara booking.
We'll see how that turns out.

I use old school NWA style booking (surprise, suprise). Each region has a heavyweight and tag champ (some have a regional women's champ). I don't really have any supercards, rather if things are cooking in a region it will have a card or two that has a major impact on things or a special attraction (i.e. Andre visits, World Champ comes to town, cage match, heel/face turn, etc).

The FLoW features a mix of ROH and CHIKARA (with a little more nod to CHIKARA as I like comedy in my wrestling). I usually run my GWF a lot like the WWE, and the CPC was WCW (until they started to suck) but now is run on a more UFC/Original ECW feel. aCe is strictly about entertainment (once the Battle for Centra years are over), so it's a very WWE-esq fed. My other Legends feds are just run on old school, southern style booking. Two guys, don't like each other, fight. Not much more too it than that.

Yeah, Major League Wrestling is very much patterned after the WWE with some exceptions such as I still do some brand specific PPVs and I also have this major annual 64 tag team tournament called the Sammartino Invitational (MLW Madness) influenced by the Crockett Cups. For me, PWG is indeed a major influence for Minor League Wrestling. Like PWG, I run about 1 card/month for my LOTF fed/Minor League Wrestling and the names of my shows are similar to the names of PWG's shows. For example last month PWG had Kurt Russellmania and Minor League Wrestling had Sylvester Stalloneslam and last fall PWG's tournament the Battle of Los Angeles was basically represented in Minor League Wrestling as a tournament called the Battle of Las Vegas. When PWG does their annual DDT4 tag team tournament this spring, Minor League Wrestling is going to have a tag team tournament called something like the Double Down.

My LOW fed is called NWA Mid-Atlantic. I do my best to pattern it after Jim Crockett Jr. promotions. I even have Georgia Championship Wrestling, Florida Championship Wrestling, and of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. All of the regional feds have their own titles. Of course the big championship is the NWA World Title. The U.S. title, World Tag and U.S. Tag Titles are defended in every region along with the T.V. title. I kind of just do my own thing but mix in alot of what I remember. Most of the angles that I run I just come off with the top of my head or the dice help create a feud.

Most of my feds end up being patterned after WWE, but I was able to run my aCe fed as more of a TNA style and my CPC as WCW (when it was good). I think it stems from WWE and TNA to a lesser extent serve as my models for running a promotion.
I tried running my POW fed as a more brutal arena style combat, but was unhappy with where it was going, and now plan to go back to a UFC style presentation.

I don't play legends at this point (I'l probably buy the online sets, but how much I will have time to use them is questionable), so all of my feds are CotG-based. At least on a conscious level, none of my feds is based on any real-life organization. I suppose you can't escape some sense of influence, so there are probably hints of WCW and WWE in what I do, but not by any design of mine. I still run the War Games every year in both my GWF and my version of the CPC, which is certainly different from anything real-life (except maybe the old AWA team challenge on some level). My women's fed has both matches on GWF and CPC cards and independent cards of its own. So in most ways I am not really following a pre-established pattern.
