The beginnings of GLOW in the Duceverse can not be told without telling the stories of IGWL and HOT.
IGWL Intergalactic Wrestling League
Based in Alpha Centauri or more specifically a planet called Voûte in the Proxima Centauri system. The intergalactic wrestling league opened its doors in 2078. It featured annual tournaments hoping to cash in on the star power of GWF castoffs Dorado Sundown and Torpor by signing them to a pay by appearance open contract. The face of IGWL is George Erardus. George Erardus a businessman, colonist, land owner, musician, and free thinker. He started the promotion as a means to create jobs, attract tourism to the area, and to ease tensions from his people and the colonists from Cygnus and Andromeda. During the war the Cygnus military held the second moon of Voûte and a large area around the systems gas giant planet (called Joan by Earth, Tongsoon by Cygnus, and X1P34 by the UFSP). Andromeda citizens had a colony on one of the moons and had to flee during the war. The people of Voûte took them in as refugees. One of the conditions of Cygnus's signing treaties for peace with the UFSP was to keep occupation of five moons in the Proxima Centauri system. One of the moons was the one the Andromeda colony was using. Making them permanent refugees. Cygnus hate is high in the system. People are of course born ignorant. Its normal to fear the unknown. So many under educated colonist be them from Earth or Andromeda have found that they do not like or trust the other species.
George Erardus idea was to use professional wrestling as a tool to solve all his problems. He invited locals to participate and signed established stars. While it did help relieve tension it was hard for them not to form cliques of the same races. There was no Galaxian Code here. There were riots and deaths from the chaos that spilled into the streets. As a people they managed to learn and from the blood loss they came together to become one community. From 2078 to 2083 IGWL indirectly competed with GWF on signing wrestlers.
Then in 2084 IGWL had changed its annual tournament format into seasons with a number of brackets. On Voûte females out number males 2 to 1.This is due to all the men who had died during the war and birth complications brought on by radiation caused by Cygnus and Earth's weaponry. The women were feed up with being second class on the Andromedan side and on the Earth side they were pissed out not being able to wrestle like the guys! The boys club was over in 2085. IGWL held its first womens season. This is largely credited to Oko Yonos George's Andromedan wife and Notre Dame graduate Kim Cooper aka Epiphany. Thus Womens Wrestling was held on its largest stage.
Womens Wrestling Alliance
The WWA was a coalition of regional promoters across the Sol system. The first card held in co-promotion under its banner was held in 2082. After only one year of touring the system WWA's board of directors grew in influence and were able to attract the attention of Equulus Championship Wrestling(ECW) and Coma Berenices Wrestling Federation (CBWF). In 2083 the WWA toured three star systems through co-promotion. This was a pretty big deal for so many small regional promotions to come together and thrive off of each other.
In 2084 the Hellcats Of Titan (HOT) opened there doors and were extremely successful. As a promotion they became planetary sized in one year. This is when the current conflict(2086) was founded.
The WWA had sights on purchasing all the promotions in one massive corporate takeover and changing the name to Galactic Ladies Of Wrestling. 2085 saw several WWA-HOT Fight Cards. The HOT owners and investors resisted the takeover and cut off all ties to the WWA. Kayla Starblast the HOT Champ was signed to WWA. Kayla was unable to say no to the board when the told her on the final broadcast of the last WWA Co-promoted event to trash the HOT title on Holovision and afterwords raise the banner of GLOW over her head.
Now it is March of 2086 and GLOW is holding its first event.
