GALAXY CUP 2113The GWF set its 2113 year in motion with its annual Galaxy Cup festivities from January 17 to January 22. The Galaxy Cup event includes tournaments for singles and tag team wrestlers as well as the year-opening press conferences for each of the federation’s teams.
Commissioner Morpheus held the first press conference in the Deimos Media Center on the morning of January 17, offering an analysis of the state of the GWF. Morpheus also commented on his federation’s ongoing positive relationship with Magnus Colby’s USWF and the new DSCW organization. The commissioner then ended his remarks by promising some major surprises at the team press conferences. Highlights of those press conferences were as follows:
In the first team press conference, Thantos offered the first unexpected announcement of the year as his group of Terminus, Bloodline, and Encubus was joined onstage by Euritar, who had been a member of Team Thantos’ arch rivals the Avenging Warriors in 2112. “Star Warrior wanted me to keep teaming up with Enigma like I did last year,” Euritar stated,” but I’m sick of carrying that masked freak. And I’m sick of Manslaughter, too. This is the team for me, one that can crush the Warriors.” Thantos also announced that Paragon would no longer be a member of Team Thantos.
The Federation Defense Fighters presented the same roster that they ended 2112 with: GWF Heavyweight Champion Archon, Corporal Aegis, Chad Hillsman, and Star & Stripes. Commander Sam announced that his team would be going after Mangus’ Alien Alliance.
Johnny Rocket pulled off a surprise when Max Shield joined Dreggs and Sleeze onstage as a member of the Rocketmen. Rocket explained that he and Twin Blood had agreed to help Shield go after Mandrill.
Star Warrior replaced Euritar on the roster of the Avenging Warriors by signing Special Matches Champion Vyper. Vyper and Enigma will form a tag team called “Swift Poison.” Code Enforcer Manslaughter and Pegasus also remain with the Warriors.
The Fighting Titans did not add any new members, but they did shuffle their roster. Lord Nexus announced that Scion Nexus would join Rising Sun and Overtime as singles competitors, while Ursa Major would now team with Blade as “Titan Honor.”
Monad, having walked away from Doomsayer, presented a strange new team he called “The Out Group.” In addition to Monad, the team will include Tocsin and the SWAT Team and will go after Doomsayer’s troops.
Mandrill, Nefarus, and Vendetta appeared onstage to show that the Colonizer team was still together, though Wraith is once again out of the mix.
The Brymstone team of Blazing Skull, Anarchy, and Tortured Soul presented their two newest members, Turge and Cyclopes, a tag team called the “Creatures of Lamia.”
Paragon revealed his new allegiance by appearing onstage with Cordanus and Mensar to form a new team called “Takeover.” Also joining Cordanus’ new group were Rack and Ruin, the tag team of Desolation Factor.
Reynard B. Guile revealed that Prodigy and Skinhead would re-form their old team of Superiority Complex for 2113. The Draconian Sheik also remains on the roster of Guile’s “Payback” team. Guile announced that his group would be going after Krakan to settle the long-standing feud between the two managers.
Krakan, appearing onstage alone as is his custom, noted that his roster of Dark Justice and Mike Fortune, the tag team of Dark Fortune, and Light Heavyweight Champion Assassin X was unchanged. Krakan also readily accepted Guile’s challenge.
Morpheus returned to the stage to announce that the Clones and Animan Invasion would continue in the GWF as active tag teams, while Grovel, Mutant, Soulwatcher, and Sir Ender would fight as independent wrestlers.
STUNNING EVENTS AT GLADIATOR PRESS CONFERENCEThe Gladiators of Aethra were led onto the stage by Minister of War Vengeance. Behind him came Brute, Thunder, Malice, Overkill, former USWF star Venom, and the young Gladiator previously known as P3.
“As you can see, I have delivered what I promised,” Vengeance began. “You see before you the most awesome fighting unit in the GWF. Having all political matters under control on Aethra, I have decided to return to the ring myself this year. And at this time, I am happy to introduce our newest members: Venom, the awesome young fighter who was banished from the USWF at the end of 2112, and, straight from his first cleansing, the most dominant new force in wrestling: Disaster.”
The young man formerly known as P3 stepped forward and took the microphone. “Yeah, I’ll dominate, all right,” he said. “But not on your team. I don’t team up with murderers.”
“What?” Vengeance stammered. “How dare . . .”
“You killed Massacre, and we all know it,” Disaster interrupted. “And I ain’t staying on your team. I got a better offer. I’m joining a team that’s gonna crush you.”
“And who’s that?” Thunder snapped. “You look pretty alone.”
Suddenly a sharp howl was heard offstage. “Not alone,” shouted Wolf as he strode out to stand beside Disaster. “I’m here with him.”
“Big surprise,” Vengeance sneered. “But there’s still only two of you.”
“No,” Brute said quietly. “There’s more. They got me to watch their backs, for one.”
“You?” Vengeance asked, beginning to stammer again. “But . . .”
“I seen the evidence. I know what you did to Massacre. He was my best friend. You’re gonna pay, Vengeance. And it ain’t just the three of us. Here’s our leader.”
To the surprise of everyone, Spike walked out onto the stage. “If you can come back, you low-life, so can I,” the Aethran powerhouse smiled. “And this time I’m gonna crush you. See, I made a little deal with Doomsayer. He put me through the transrevolver—not much, but enough to return me to what I used to be in the ring, just for a little while. You’re gonna see the Spike who dominated the GWF before. I’m back for real.”
Clearly flustered, Vengeance snarled a response. “Fine,” he said. “We’ll see. It’s still five on three in the ring.”
“Nope,” Spike smiled. “I’ve got one more surprise: your worst nightmare. Say hello to Malice and Overkill’s competition for this year.”
Out onto the stage walked Predator and Wrath, the two half-Aethran brothers who had last competed regularly in the GWF in 2108. “Hello, boys,” Wrath muttered. “Overkill, when you injured me during my visit here last year, I told you I’d be back. Here I am. You’re gonna pay.”
At the sight of Predator and Wrath, Vengeance completely lost his composure and had to be restrained. He was dragged offstage by his men, screaming all the way as the dramatic press conference ended.

The first is a familiar face: Taechon!”
The undersized, genderless Taechon, who had spent all of 2112 in the GWWF, slipped silently out on to the stage and stood with his new teammates. “Our final member is a newcomer to the GWF," Mangus continued. "He is from Cygnus, and he and Sekada will form a new tag team called Cygnus Pride. Together they will crush Commander Sam’s men. Say hello to Belroc!”
A hulking creature strode out onto the stage. He was clearly an alien of the same species and Maelstrom and Sekada, but he towered over even his large tag team partner, standing perhaps as much as seven feet tall. The group onstage looked very fearsome, and for the first time Mangus appeared to have put together a legitimate threat to his GWF enemies.

I was planning on retiring, but I was then approached by a newcomer to the GWF, and he convinced me to join his cause. I’d like to introduce him to you now. His name is Atman.”
An unfamiliar figure stepped out onto the stage, an apparently human individual with long dark hair. “I am here in the GWF to oppose evil,” the stranger said quietly. “And there is evil here. I will fight all those who attack or undermine what is good and right. And at this time, the most perverse, evil team in the GWF is Brymstone Burning. Worse yet, that team has added two new men. I have therefore assembled a team to oppose them this year. Please welcome my new partners, all managed by Vertigo: The Ravagers, Moeru Tohkon, and a newcomer like myself, Avalanche.”
The first three wrestlers who walked out on stage were familiar. The last was a huge human, both tall and heavy, with a shining bald head.
“Avalanche is from Clone World,” Vertigo explained. “He’s a very physical wrestler and is anxious to take on Anarchy, as Atman will oppose Blazing Skull. Our team will be called ‘The Crusade.’ We will do all we can to put a stop to the evil and sadistic ways of the Brymstone team, and we hope all of the fans will support us.”
DRAMA AND CONFUSION AT DOOMSAYER PRESS CONFERENCEThis much anticipated press conference began with a very abashed-looking Doomsayer appearing onstage with Wraith and Nth Degree. The large-headed scientist glanced nervously offstage was he spoke.
“As you can see, Wraith has returned to my Transrevolver team,” the manager began. “You can also see that Nth Degree is still with us. And, as everyone knows, I promised last year to present the results of my greatest experiment: an attempt to separate Buck Shield and Genocide into two different people.”
Doomsayer again shifted uncomfortably. “Well, the experiment worked—to a degree,” he continued. “but we ran into a complication.”
As Doomsayer spoke, two individuals walked out onto the stage. One was clearly Genocide, but the giant monster’s skin, always a deep blue, had faded to something close to a human caucasian’s flesh tone, though it still retained a blue tint, and he did not have Genocide’s usual maniacal expression. The other was a much smaller man who looked very much like Buck Steele, but his skin, like Genocide’s, had also taken on a bluish tint, and his expression was positively frantic.
“Fix this,” the smaller man screamed. “Get me out of this body!” Genocide simply chuckled in response.
“As I said, we had a complication,” Doomsayer stated. “The wrong person ended up in the wrong body. Buck Steele is in Genocide’s body, and . . .”
“And I’m stuck in this puny, worthless little shell,” the smaller man shouted. “Fix it!”
“I will do all I can to fix it,” Doomsayer replied. “This will take some work. There is nothing I can do right now, but I will continue to look for a solution.”
“You can look,” Genocide said, speaking for the first time. “But I may decide I like things this way. When and if you get things worked out, I’ll let you know.”
“Until then, “Doomsayer continued. “I remind you both once again that you have a contract with me. You will both wrestle on my team, and in fact you will be tag team partners: Genocide and Hyper. Hyper is, of course, the new name Buck Steele’s body has taken on.”
“Yeah, you’ve reminded us,” Genocide said. “It’s a one year deal. At the end of one year, I’m done with you. That’s how long you have to, as Hyper says, fix this.”
“No!” Hyper screamed. “I won’t stay in this body.”
“You’ve got no choice for now,” Doomsayer stated. “Again, I will continue to look for a solution. Until then, this is our team.” He shuddered slightly as he added, "It should be an interesting year.”
