I really enjoyed this tournament a lot. The heavyweight tournament was a little too dry as all the favorites won their matches. But this tournament was nice as Hanuman got some upsets and looked poised to maybe even beat Gunnar. But Gunnar mauled him pretty quickly.

Lawless Report #3: 01/18/2122
Hail to the new champ Gunnar! The Super Heavyweight tournament is in the books and we've got a couple of stories developing from it.
The first is obviously that Gunnar is the king of the Super Heavyweight mountain. He defeated J.J. Smooth, Puma and the unlikely Hanuman on his way to wearing the gold around his waist. He deserves it if you ask me. He's a good mix of pure power in the fists with some solid grappling skills on the mat. He's going to have a hard life as champion though. Puma, Rubicon and the unlikely Hanuman are all looking for title matches.
The second story of the tournament is the unlikely Hanuman. Most experts had him slated for a first round exit to Mensar. No one in their right minds thought that he'd somehow beat Mensar and then top it off with a win over Rubicon. The fans were going crazy for the Cinderella story of the tournament. The standing ovation for Hanuman after his loss in the final really turned some heads. One such person was Jack Hood. He had this to say: "Hanuman really won over the fans at the tournament. I think he's earned the right for an automatic rematch for the championship. So look for Gunnar vs. Hanuman in the near future." Can the Cinderella story continue for Hanuman?
We've still got the Cruiserweight and Women's tournaments to go. So check back in after those events for more inside info on the POW.

POW Cruiserweight Title Tournament: 01/24/2122
Round 1:
First Round Byes: Pendekar, Stigma
Ahnu KOs Brainstorm w/ a high kick to head
Lawless Report: This was a good back and forth match. Brainstorm tried to keep this affair mostly grounded and looked to have things well in hand. The ref stood it up for lack of action at one point and Ahnu quicked KOed Brainstorm with a high kick to head.
Euritar KOs Romulus w/ a single leg pickup and sweep
Lawless Report: Euritar dominated this match and beat down Romulus with punches and throws. He put Romulus down with a single leg pickup and sweep. Both members of the Punks have struggled in MMA so far.
Dante submits Crucible w/ a heel hook
Lawless Report: Dante made really short work of Crucible and submitted him with a heel hook.
Zed Marlowe KOs Quetzal w/ mounted strikes
Lawless Report: Another quick match as Marlowe got Quetzal to the ground and pounded him with mounted strikes.
Talon submits T.K. w/ a rear naked choke
Lawless Report: Talon surprised a lot of the fans with some real mat prowess. He got T.K. down and just wore him down with submissions and finally locked on a rear naked choke to progress in the tournament.
Thayne submits Scion Nexus w/ a rolling knee bar
Lawless Report: Thayne made short work of Scion as he slapped on a rolling knee bar and earned the win.
Quarter-Finals:
Ahnu TKOs Dante w/ a right, left combo to ribs
Lawless Report: This was a back and forth slugfest for most of the match. Dante really amazed people with his toughness and striking abilities. The match ended when Ahnu hit a nice combo to the ribs and Dante started clutching at his ribs. The ref came over and called the doctors in. They checked out Dante and said he was too injured to continue.
Euritar KOs Pendekar w/ the Merciless
Lawless Report: This was a clash of styles. Pendekar was trying to keep things on the ground and Euritar was trying to slug things out on his feet. Euritar escaped a number of throws and submissions from Pendekar. Things were starting to look grim when things got back to standing and Euritar KOed Pendekar with the Merciless. The crowd was stunned to silence at this upset.
Thayne KOs Zed Marlowe w/ a series of punches
Lawless Report: A really good back and forth match that Marlowe seemed to have the upper hand for most of. Thayne caught him with a series of punches to progress to the semi-finals.
Talon KOs Stigma w/ elbow strikes
Lawless Report: A stunning upset here. Stigma dominated this match but Talon just wouldn't say die. He finally got the advantage after some hardwork and finally caught Stigma with some elbow strikes.
Semi-Finals:
Ahnu KOs Euritar w/ a rolling backfist
Lawless Report: Ahnu and Euritar had a real war out there. The fists were flying. Ahnu spent most of the match trying to connect with the rolling backfist. He finally managed to catch Euritar right on the chin and got the victory. Ahnu is headed to the finals and I have to say I'm surprised by his success thus far.
Thayne KOs Talon w/ a right, right, left combo
Lawless Report: Thayne didn't overlook Talon's mat prowess like his previous opponents had. Thayne kept it standing for the entire match and managed to KO Talon pretty easily. Thayne is off to the finals to face his rival Ahnu.
Final:
Ahnu KOs Thayne w/ an ankle pick up and outside trip to win the POW Cruiserweight Title
Lawless Report: Thayne just couldn't get it going in this match. Ahnu slowly took Thayne apart before slamming him to the mat and becoming the first ever POW Cruiserweight Champion.

Lawless Report #4: 01/27/2122
Three championships down and just one left to go. That's right, Ahnu is your new POW Cruiserweight Champion. I have to say I'm pretty surprised at the outcome of this tournament. I had my money on Stigma and Pendekar squaring off in the final. The OFC guys have been pretty hit and miss so far in these tournaments.
Speaking of Pendekar. Does that guy have a glass jaw or what? He's a master of the submission hold but even an OFC legend like Pendekar seems to need to work on his stand up game. With guys like Ahnu, Dante, Thayne and T.K. around he's going to have a really tough time of things.
Stigma on the other hand seems pretty fired up by his loss to Talon in the quarter-finals. "I really messed up, commented Stigma, I took the guy's ground game for granted and it came back and bit me in the butt. I want a shot against Talon down the road. I want a shot at redemption."
Speaking of Redemption. That's the name of the first ever POW PPV. The theme of this PPV will be POW fighters getting a second chance after the tournaments. The matches signed for this card so far are:
Super Heavyweight Title Match: Gunnar (c) vs. Hanuman
Heavyweight No. 1 Contenders Match: Saboteur vs. Cypher
Heavyweight Match: Jack Hood vs. Taurine
Heavyweight Match: Excalibur vs. Nero
Cruiserweight Match: Stigma vs. Talon
A great card if you ask me. And it's not even filled out yet.
Don't forget. We've also got the ladies of the POW battling it out to become the first ever POW Women's Champion in a few days. See you in a few days.

POW Women's Title Tournament: 01/30/2122
Round 1:
bye: Xenia
Women's Match: Latasha submits Desdemona with a bent arm lock
Lawless Report: Desdemona rocked Latasha with a kick to the stomach early and got her locked up in the clinch. Desdemona got her to the mat with a single leg pick up and drop. Desdemona tried locking on a guillotine choke but Latsha kept slipping out of her clutches. Latasha managed to lock Desdemona in a guillotine choke and then hurt her pretty badly with strikes to the body. They went back to the clinch and Desdemona took Latasha down to the mat. They battled over postion which Latasha surprisingly won. The referee eventually stood them up for lack of action. Latasha caught Desdemona with a right cross which took her to the mat. Latasha quickly jumped on top and locked on a bent arm lock. Desdemona was trapped and tapped out to the shock of the crowd. Latasha pulls off a huge upset here.
Women's Match: Rhiannon KOs Nano with a drop seoinage
Lawless Report: This bout was a battle of strengths. Nano tried with all of it's might to keep the match standing. Nano looked impressive striking and rocked Rhiannon with a series of elbows and kicks. Rhiannon would try to clinch and get the bout to the ground as much as possible. Rhiannon did show off some striking as she rocked Nano with a spinning heel kick. Rhiannon clinched with Nano and slammed Nano hard to the match with a drop seoinage and Nano was out cold. The referee declared it a KO victory for Rhiannon
Women's Match: Morgana TKOs Serpentine with a high kick
Lawless Report: Morgana caught Serpentine with a high kick. Serpentine's nose looked like it exploded as blood just poured out of her nose. The referee had her consult with the doctors and they stopped the match and awarded the TKO to Morgana.
Semi-Finals:
Women's Match: Xenia submits Latasha with an arm bar
Lawless Report: Latasha tried to lay and pray but the referee stood them up. Latasha threw her best strikes at Xenia but she just shurgged everything off like it didn't matter. Latasha clinched and got Xenia to the mat with an inside foot sweep. Latasha tried to use the bent arm lock that defeated Desdemona but Xenia slipped out. Xenia escaped the hold and locked an arm bar on Latasha and she was forced to tap out. Latasha looked completely outclassed her and it seemed like Xenia was just toying with her.
Women's Match: Rhiannon submits Morgana with an arm bar
Lawless Report: Rhiannon took this to the mat early and that's where it stayed. Rhiannon just outclassed Morgana on the mat her. She punished Morgana with mounted strikes and knee strikes to the head. Rhiannon and Morgana fought over a triangle arm lock which Morgana ultimately escaped. Rhiannon caught her with an arm bar and Morgana was forced to tap out.
Final:
Women's Match: Xenia KOs Rhiannon with a back hip throw
Lawless Report: Xenia hit Rhiannon with a leaping elbow strike and then rocked her with a short uppercut. Rhiannon went for the clinch to avoid getting knocked to the mat. Xenia quickly hit her with a back hit throw and Rhiannon was knocked out cold. Xenia becomes the first POW Women's Champion.

Lawless Report #5: 01/31/2122
Xenia has become the first ever POW Women's Champion. She accomplished this feat with surprising ease as she mowed down Latasha in the semi-finals and then dominated Rhiannon to win the belt. The big question now is who can beat Xenia in the octagon? Looking at the field. Rhiannon worked her way to the final and looked pretty good. But against Xenia she looked like a rank amateur. I think Xenia is going to be holding the belt for a very long time.
All of the belts in the POW now have a holder. Gunnar (3-0) holds the POW Super Heavyweight Championship, Shylock (3-0) holds the POW Heavyweight Championship, Ahnu (4-0) holds the POW Cruiserweight Championship and Xenia (2-0) holds the POW Women's Championship.
Now, with all of the tournaments done it's time to talk about POW's first PPV called Redemption. There will be 10 matches on this card and the POW brass are hoping this shapes the next several months of POW shows. Here's my break down of the show and who I think will win:
Women's Match: Serpentine 0-1 vs. Desdemona 0-1
This match pits two of the first round losers from the Women's Tournament against each other. Desdemona was upset by Latasha and Serpentine lost a heartbreaker due to injury. I think Desdemona has the clear advantage here. I think her loss to Latasha was a fluke. She just couldn't get her gameplan going. Serpentine is a quality fighter but I think she's just a little worse in every department. Lawless Pick: Desdemona
Heavyweight Match: Mike Fortune 0-1 vs. Mad Jester 0-1
Again, this pits two guys that lost in the early goings of the Heavyweight Tournament against each other. This is a real mismatch if you ask me. Mad Jester surprised people with a better than expected stand up game but Mike Fortune is the real deal if you ask me. He just ran into a really strong opponent in Absalom and that's hard to compete with for a first time match. I think Fortune has the ability to bang on his feet and can work in the clinch and do some work on the mat. I think he's just too well rounded for the Mad Jester. Mad Jester is going to have to swing for the fences to have a prayer here. I think Fortune walks away with a win. Lawless Pick: Mike Fortune
Cruiserweight Match: Dante 1-1 vs. Brainstorm 0-1
Both of these guys lost to Ahnu as he marched his way to the POW Cruiserweight Championship. Both men gave Ahnu a fight so this should be an interesting match. I think Dante is a much more rounded fighter but I also think Brainstorm ias better on the ground. I think Brainstorm is going to get the takedown and force a submission out of Dante. Lawless Pick: Brainstorm
Super Heavyweight Match: Rubicon 1-1 vs. Silas 0-1
Rubicon was a favorite to win the Super Heavyweight Championship but came up short when he was cut at the hands of Hanuman. I think Rubicon walks away with everything in this match. He's a big huge guy and he strikes and works well in the clinch. Silas just won't have an answer for his raw power. Lawless Pick: Rubicon
Cruiserweight Match: Pendakar 0-1 vs. Crucible 0-1
This one won't even be a question. I think Pendakar gets Crucible to the mat and has his pick of how to submit him. This one will be over quick. Lawless Pick: Pendakar
Cruiserweight Match: Stigma 0-1 vs. Talon 2-1
This is a rematch from the Cruiserweight Tournament. Stigma dominated the match but Talon stayed in there and finally got the win with a series of elbow strikes. Stigma went to POW Commissioner Jack Hood and demanded a rematch. Hood agreed and so here we are. Let's be honest here; Talon's first win was great and all but it was an upset for a reason. Stigma is just better, that's all there is to it. Talon has a nice win on his resume but he's not beating Stigma twice. Lawless Pick: Stigma
Heavyweight Match: Excalibur 0-1 vs. Nero 1-1
Excalibur has turned his frustrations over losing to Indigo into a match with Nero. Excalibur looked very good in his match while Nero has looked completely out of place in his two matches. I think Excalibur gets his first win in POW here. Lawless Pick: Excalibur
Heavyweight Match: Jack Hood 147-39 vs. Taurine 0-1
Taurine has voiced his displeasure about competing in MMA matches. Jack Hood has responded by forcing Taurine to face him in this match. This is going to be an absolute stomping if you ask me. Taurine has had 1 MMA fight in his career compared to the 186 officially confirmed bouts that Jack Hood has taken part in. I don't see how Taurine finds a way to get the win. Lawless Pick: Jack Hood
Heavyweight Match: No. 1 Contender Match: Saboteur 2-1 vs. Cypher 1-1
Saboteur defeated Cypher in fairly convincing fashion in the semi-finals of the Heavyweight Tournament. People are really sold on Saboteur as the next big thing but I'm not sold on him yet. Despite the result of their first match I feel that Cypher is still a better overall MMA fighter than Saboteur. I think you'll see a completely different outcome here. I think Cypher will win here and take on his old rival Shylock for the POW Heavyweight Championship. Lawless Pick: Cypher
Main Event: POW Super Heavyweight Title Match: Gunnar (c) 3-0 vs. Hanuman 2-1
POW Commissioner Jack Hood wanted to strike while the iron was hot with this match. People are really into Hanuman after his unlikely trip to the final of the Super Heavyweight Tournament. Unfortunately Gunnar dominated him in the final and won the belt. I see the same fate for Hanuman in this bout. Gunnar is just way too much for him. I think Gunnar wins and cements himself as a strong champion. Lawless Pick: Gunnar
That's all for this week. Stay tuned for more on POW Redemption. Till next time.

POW Press Conference: 02/13/2122
POW Super Heavyweight Champion Gunnar agreed to meet with reporters to discuss his upcoming title defense against Hanuman with the MMA press. Commissioner Jack Hood was also in attendance.
Hood: Thank you all for attending today. My I present to you POW Super Heavyweight Champion Gunnar.
Gunnar walks to the podium.
Gunnar: I'd just like to say I'm excited to make my first defense of my championship belt later this month. I made a statement during the Super Heavyweight Title Tournament. I showed everyone in the galaxy that I am the most well rounded fighter in the Super Heavyweight division.
Reporter: How do you feel about the Super Heavyweight division being treated more like a gimmick than a legit division?
Gunnar: Honestly, I think it sucks. The problem is the matches so far have been boring. Guys like Puma and Rubicon are so strong that they just want to wear guys down in the clinch and then slam them on their head to get their victories. That tactic is as valid as any other but it leads to really dull matches. On top of them you have guys like Silas and Gordo that aren't really trained in MMA. They just want to fight. That's fine too but it leads to really sloppy matches. We need more guys like me. Well rounded and entertaining.
Lawless: What is your strategy for your title defense against Hanuman?
Gunnar: I can't reveal too much. I think his biggest weakness is being on the mat. I want to get him in the clinch and get him on the mat and wear him down. I suspect he doesn't have great stamina and I think the mat is the best way to beat him down. I'm going to predict a submission victory.
Reporter: If you successfully defend your belt who do you see on the horizon as far as challengers go?
Gunnar: I honestly don't know. I would imagine Puma or Rubicon will get a win or two and be next in line. But the division is just too new at this point. It's going to need time to play out and see who gets a couple of wins.
Reporter: Are you training with anyone in particular at camp?
Gunnar: Mike Fortune and Brainstorm have actually been my partners for this training camp. Brainstorm in particular has been very helpful. Working with such a quick and agile guy has helped me to develop some agility and speed. I think that's going to be a huge help to me when facing the more lumbering opponents in the super heavyweight division.
Hood: That's going to be all for today.
Gunnar: One last thing. I want to hold my belt for a very long time. I'm going to show that the super heavyweight division can be more than just some kind of lame joke. I want everyone to talk about me like they do guys like Shylock, Cypher and Thayne. I'm going to do everything in my power to be the top guy in the POW promotion.

POW Press Conference: 02/15/2122
Cypher has called the press for his upcoming bout with Saboteur. He comes into the room and steps up to the podium and motions for the press to ask questions.
Lawless: What mistakes do you feel were made against Saboteur the last time you fought him?
Cypher: I gassed really badly in that match. I used up a lot of my energy in the first bout and I honestly underestimated him. Some of these former CPC wrestlers have taken to MMA a lot better than I thought they would.
Reporter: Saboteur has shown a really good stand up game and a lot of submission knowledge on the ground. How can you compete with that?
Cypher: Saboteur likes to show off a lot. He likes to show everyone that he has an extensive knowledge of a lot of fancy submission holds. If you ask me, the most effective submission artist sticks to the basics. You master a few holds and then learn how to apply those in a broad range of situations. I have yet to see that from Saboteur.
Reporter: What is your gameplan for this match?
Cypher: I want to keep it on the ground as much as I can. I'm good on my feet but from what I've see Saboteur is very dangerous on his feet. He knows a lot of submissions but as I said earlier. I think he's good at a large variety of submission holds and the master of none. I'd also pit my wrestling against just about anyone in the POW.
Reporter: How do you feel you match up with Shylock if you were to win this match?
Cypher: I prefer to just focus on the match at hand. That's all for today. I'll just repeat. I feel great and I think you'll see me earn the victory against Saboteur.

POW #1: Redemption: 02/21/2122
Women's Match: Serpentine submits Desdemona with a reverse figure four choke
Lawless Report: This one went to the mat and stayed on the mat for the majority of the match. Desdemona spent the majority of the match slipping out of submission attempts from Serpentine. They stood a few times and went into the clinch. Serpentine hit a fireman pick up and drop and applied a guillotine choke. Desdemona slipped out of the hold and got the dominate position. She tried to get Serpentine in a heel hook but Serpentine was just too slippery. Serpentine took control of the match and got Desdemona in a reverse figure four choke and Desdemona was forced to tap out.
Heavyweight Match: Mad Jester KOs Mike Fortune with maniacal punches
Lawless Report: This match was an all out brawl. Fortune got the better of Jester during the early goings and knocked him to the mat with a wild right. Fortune jumped on top and punished Jester with punches to the ribs. Jester managed to get up and Fortune worked him over with punches to the body in the clinch. Back to the mat as Fortune unsuccessfully tries to submit Jester with a head and arm choke. Jester manages to slip away and catches Fortune with a overhand right on their feet. Jester dives on the fallen Fortune and knocks him out cold with maniacal punches. The Mad Jester earns a stunning victory here tonight.
Cruiserweight Match: Brainstorm TKOs Dante with a knee to head
Lawless Report: Dante and Brainstorm kept it standing for a very long time. Dante looked impressive on his feet as he had Brainstorm reeling from all of his kicks. Things went to the mat and Brainstorm hit Dante with a knee to the head. Dante was really slow to get up and the referee called the doctor in. The doctor declared that Dante had suffered a concussion and awared the TKO to Brainstorm.
Super Heavyweight Match: Rubicon KOs Silas with a spinning hammer fist
Lawless Report: Silas tried to take the match to the ground every chance he got. He tried a variety of submissions on Rubicon but he just wasn't willing to tap out. They stood up and Silas went to the clinch and took it back to the mat. The referee stood it up this time. Rubicon caught Silas with a spinning hammer fist and got the KO from out of nowhere.
Cruiserweight Match: Crucible KOs Pendekar with a right uppercut
Lawless Report: This was a heartbreaker for Pendekar here. He dominated the match. He had Crucible in a variety of submission holds but Crucible kept fighting his way out of the holds. They got into a clinch and the referee broke it up. Crucible caught Pendekar right on the chin with a right uppercut and earned the stunning KO victory.
Cruiserweight Match: Stigma KOs Talon with a right to head, left to ribs
Lawless Report: Stigma made really short work of Talon here. He dominated the standing game and took it to the mat. Stigma punished Talon with mounted elbows. Stigma took it to a standing position and rocked Talon with a combination of punches. Stigma finished him off with a right to the head and a left to the ribs. Stigma earns the KO victory.
Heavyweight Match: Excalibur KOs Nero with a looping left hand
Lawless Report: Nero actually looked like he belonged in the octagon for the first time ever. He came out of the corner and caught Excalibur with several kicks to the knee. Nero caught him with a spinning backfist and then used a duck under and dragging trip to the mat. Things got standing again as Excalibur caught Nero with a snap kick and then got the KO with a looping left hand.
Heavyweight Match: Jack Hood TKOs Taurine with a scoop pickup and drop
Lawless Report: Taurine got the takedown on Hood and kept it on the mat. He pushed Hood up against the cage and punished him with punches to the head and body. Hood managed to shake it off and used a scoop pickup and drop on Taurine. Taurine was grabbing his left shoulder and his left arm looked dead so the referee called the match off and awarded it to Jack Hood by TKO.
Heavyweight No. 1 Contender Match: Saboteur KOs Cypher with a right thigh kick, left side kick
Lawless Report: Again Cypher didn't seem to have an answer for Saboteur. He won the exchanges on the ground and did pretty well in the clinch but Saboteur absolutely dominated him in the striking game. Saboteur almost KOed Cypher twice with the superman punch. Saboteur finished things off with a series of kick and got the KO victory. Saboteur will be getting a rematch with Shylock for the POW Heavyweight Championship.
Main Event: POW Super Heavyweight Title Match: Gunnar (c) KOs Hanuman with a barrage of hard strikes
Lawless Report: Gunnar managed to get out of Hanuman's clinch pretty easily and then caught him with a big right that had Hanuman reeling. Gunnar went in for the kill and earned the victory by KO. Gunnar retains the title.
