Lawless Report #6: 2/22/2122

The first ever POW PPV is in the books and boy was it an eventful show. We've all had a chance to sleep on this card so I thought I'd look at who the big winners and losers are of this show.

WINNERS:

Saboteur: He climbs to 3-1 with another win over Cypher and gets the first shot at POW Heavyweight Champion Shylock at POW #2: Grudge Match. With this win Saboteur clearly sets himself up as the No. 2 guy in the division and now has a second shot at the belt.

Rubicon: Rubicon has now firmly established himself as a player in the Super Heavyweight division with a nice win over Silas. He's 2-1 now and probably has a legit shot at facing Gunnar for the title later in the spring.

Gunnar: Gunnar is at 4-0 and looking like the king of the division. He's been very outspoken about getting the respect that Shylock or Ahnu get and I think this win will go a very long way towards that goal.

Stigma: He avenges his loss to Talon and is now ready to start piling up some wins and eventually challenge Ahnu for the POW Cruiserweight Title.

LOSERS:

Cypher: He's gone from being in the title mix to needing 3-4 wins in a row to even be considered for a title shot. That's a long way to go for him. He really needed this match and came up short.

Mike Fortune: Upset at the hands of the Mad Jester. It's really starting to look like he's not going to take to the MMA game at all. His next match is must win if he wants to stay relevant in POW.

Desdemona: At 0-2 she's looking up at most of the division now. She's going to have a really tough time digging herself out.

The POW is starting to shape itself up nicely and great news! The POW is returning to television with the first POW Fight Night card on March 14th. I have the exclusive match list that I'll be releasing now:

Super Heavyweight Match:
Gordo 0-1 vs. JJ Smooth 0-1

Cruiserweight Match:
Zed Marlowe 1-1 vs. T.K. 0-1

Women's Match:
Morgana 1-1 vs. Nano 0-1

Heavyweight Match:
Indigo 1-1 vs. Absalom 1-1

Cruiserweight Match:
Scion Nexus 0-1 vs. Romulus 0-1

Looks like it will be a solid card for free on television. It'll also help to sort out the divisions and see who the contenders are going to be.

I echo Dharneth's sentiments...I just caught the last few shows and I love the presentation. It's not too long or too short and serves the point. Nice to see some MMA stuff still going around. The following are edited versions of the press conferences for fighters after POW #1.

Cypher: No, I'm not happy with the outcome of this fight. I've gone from being a fight away from a title match to being 1-2. At this point I'm guessing I'll need 3-4 wins in a row to get myself back into title match consideration. I've really got my work cut out for me. I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board. I'll need to beat Saboteur to be able to hold the belt. Right now he's got my number. I'm going to have to find an answer for him.

Mad Jester: Everyone was overlooking me due to age and being pigeonholed as a pro wrestler. Well, look at what I did tonight. I went out there and KOed a guy that has a lot of hype in the media. Maybe I'll shock the world and work my way up and win the POW Heavyweight Championship.

Talon: Stigma was just the better man tonight. All I can do is get back in the gym and train harder for the next fight.

Stigma: Now, I'm on the right track. Ahnu, keep winning. I want you to have a nice big undefeated record waiting for me to ruin. I will be holding the Cruiserweight belt by the end of the year. I can promise you that.

Pendekar: This is unacceptable. I refuse to lose anymore matches. I will come back and prove that I'm a player in this division.

Gunnar: I think this fight shows that I have a strong argument for being the p4p best fighter in the world. Believe it.

POW Fight Night #1: 03/14/2122

Super Heavyweight Match:
Gordo 1-1 KOs JJ Smooth 0-2 with hammer fist punches

Lawless Report: Fans booed this one out of the building. They spent most of the match trying to stay in the clinch so they could position themselves for throws. Gordo finally got Smooth on the mat and got the KO with hammer fist punches. Terrible match.

Cruiserweight Match:
Zed Marlowe 2-1 submits T.K. 0-2 with a rear choke lock

Lawless Report: This was a statement match for Zed Marlowe. He wants a title shot and he showed everyone here that he deserves one. T.K. caught him with a shoulder throw but Marlowe locked on the rear choke lock and T.K. was forced to tap out.

Women's Match:
Morgana 2-1 submits Nano 0-2 with a kimura armlock

Lawless Report: Nano really needs to develop a ground game if it wants to compete in this division. Morgana dominated the ground game and had Nano in a variety of submission holds. Nano kept getting to it's feet and caught Morgana with some nice shots. Morgana took Nano down with a high kick and then locked on the kimura armlock to get the victory by submission.

Heavyweight Match:
Indigo 2-1 KOs Absalom 1-2 with a right heel kick

Lawless Report: Indigo and Absalom just kept this standing and brawled for the entire match. Indigo got the better of Absalom in the end and got the KO with a right heel kick.

Cruiserweight Match:
Scion Nexus 1-1 KOs Romulus 0-2 with a right hook

Lawless Report: Romulus absolutely dominated this match. He rocked Nexus repeatedly in the stand up game with some nice strikes. Nexus tried to take it to the ground but Romulus retained the dominate position and punished Nexus with more strikes. Nexus managed to escape and get to his feet. Nexus got a few shots and then caught Romulus with a right hook for the KO. Scion Nexus was lucky to escape with a win here.

Main Event:
Heavyweight Match:
Raze 2-1 KOs Matinee Idol 0-1 with hammer fist punches

Lawless Report: Raze looked to be completely out of Matinee Idol's league here. He dominated all aspects of the game. He ended things when he got the takedown and KOed Idol with hammer fist punches.

Zed Marlowe is a solid competitor and should rack up a decent win lose record.

Surprised to see Nexus dominated like that. Still he got the win and hopefully his matches get better.

Matinee Idol not being in his element is an understatement. People like Raze will eat him alive.

Lawless Report #7: 03/25/2122

Another show is in the books for the POW. Things are starting to shape up as several POW fighters earned big victories and are really standing out in their divisions.

President Prodigy and Commissioner Jack Hood came out a few days after the show and announced that Zed Marlowe (2-1) will be receiving the first shot at POW Cruiserweight Champion Ahnu (4-0) at the next POW PPV. Speaking of the next POW, it's taking place in a couple of weeks. The card will have 10 matches and here's the card:

Shylock (c) 3-0 vs. Saboteur 3-1

POW Cruiserweight Title Match:
Ahnu (c) 4-0 vs. Zed Marlowe 2-1

Heavyweight Match:
Excalibur 1-1 vs. Absalom 1-2

Cruiserweight Match:
Thayne 3-1 vs. Crucible 1-1

Heavyweight Match:
Jack of Diamonds 1-1 vs. Mike Fortune 0-2

Cruiserweight Match:
Stigma 1-1 vs. Quetzal 0-1

Heavyweight Match:
Cypher 1-2 vs. Taurine 0-2

Cruiserweight Match:
Brainstorm 1-1 vs. Euritar 2-1

Women's Match:
Rhiannon 2-1 vs. Latasha 1-1

Super Heavyweight Match:
Puma 1-1 vs. Hadrian 0-0

That's quite the card if you ask me. Shylock has a real test in Saboteur. He defeated Saboteur in the final of the title tournament. We'll see if this new Saboteur is the real deal or if he's a clear second run in the division.

The Ahnu match with Zed Marlowe is also interesting. Some people are claiming that this is the height of Zed's career. People think he's good, just not a consistent title contender. This is a golden opportunity for him to prove that he can be a top fighter in the Cruiserweight division.

POW Heavyweight Champion Shylock Press Conference: 03/26/2122

POW Heavyweight Champion Shylock and his manager Splatter sat down with reporters.

Reporters: You made fairly short work of Saboteur in your match earlier this year. What do you think will be different this time?

Shylock: I imagine that he's made a lot of changes to his gameplan. He's beaten Cypher twice and that's not an easy thing to do.

Lawless: Who do you think are the next guys in line after Saboteur for your belt?

Shylock: I think Raze, Indigo and Cypher are the top contenders. I know that Cypher is 1-2 at the moment but that will change quickly. He's going to start winning and he'll be at my door. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. Saboteur is going to be a tough challenge.

Reporter: How do you intend to approach Saboteur this time around?

Shylock: I feel like my main advantage is keeping the match standing. I'm good on the ground but Saboteur is a little better. I know that he's willing to stand and bang with me. I think you'll see me KO him again.
