Welcome to the GWF Championship Qualifier!
After a long and grueling tournament, six men have advanced to tonight's qualifier. After this evening, two men will remain to fight for the Galaxian Championship!
The six qualifiers have been divided into two groups. Each group will have a mini-round-robin, and the winners will move into the Grand Championship! If three men are tied at the end of a qualifier, a triple threat match will be held to determine the man who will advance to the Grand Championship.
The groups were selected at random:
GROUP I: Tanck, Kill Prey, Bloodline
GROUP II: Encubus, Valour, Swarm
Let the qualifier begin!
- Division I, Match I -
Tanck vs. Kill Prey
Tanck defeated Kill Prey with an Iron Man Vise at 9:45
Match Notes: Kill Prey started quickly and dominated the majority of the match. He seemingly had his way with Tanck, weakening him and setting him up for the Ambush. But Tanck escaped from the ring and grabbed Kill Prey, powering him into the steel steps! Tanck made it back to the ring first, and caught Kill Prey coming in. He wrapped Kill Prey into the Iron Man Vise to force a stunning submission!
- Division II, Match I -
Encubus vs. Valour
Valour defeated Encubus with a Warrior's Rage at 14:00
Match Notes: In a fast-paced and hard-hitting match, the two rivals went back and forth repeatedly. Encubus caught a couple of near-falls, but missed a falling head ram. Valour immediately took control with a triangle choke, weakening Encubus enough to set him up for a pair of Seeds of Fury. Encubus was on dream street at that point, and was easy fodder for Valour to finish him with the Warrior's Rage.
- Division I, Match II -
Tanck vs. Bloodline
Bloodline defeated Tanck with a Cosmic Big Bang at 6:15
Match Notes: In a short but violent confrontation, Bloodline overcame the fury of Tanck. The enormous Gamemaster hit the Armored Tanck in the opening minute for a near fall, but Bloodline battled back. After slamming Tanck face-first into the steel steps, Bloodline delivered a scintillating 450 Splash to earn the pinfall!
- The Frustration Mounts -
The Gamemasters' training room was in shambles! Encubus' loss to Valour, on the heels of Tanck's defeat, effectively eliminated them from the title picture.
"SO CLOSE!", roared Tanck, "the Galaxian Title was ours for the taking!"
Encubus snarled as he slammed his fist into the bank of lockers. "To lose to BLOODLINE and to VALOUR! I can't believe it!"
Sly Drury struggled to hold back a smirk. "At least... I am no longer the only LOSER to inhabit this locker room."
Thantos was the first to overhear Drury, and immediately stepped in front of him. Predictably, Encubus shot across the room at Drury, only to be intercepted by his father.
Encubus snarled. "Father! How long? How long must I tolerate the insolence and the sarcasm of this thug? If you truly had confidence in me, you would not need to waste your money on this worthless mercenary!"
Thantos took his son by the shoulders. "Be mindful of how you address your father, young one. I have great plans for you. Plans that are larger than the worthless feuds you choose to indulge in. You must respect my judgement, and you must keep your focus. Mr. Drury is not your concern. Your concern is to take stock of your defeat and become a better man for it. Channel your thoughts on the next match and the next goal. Let me worry about setting the course."
Thantos gently pushed Encubus back into his seat. Red-faced, Encubus shot a glare at Sly Drury, then buried his face in his hands. Drury kept his eyes narrowed, his gaze never leaving young Encubus as the emotions began to cool in the training room.
- Division II, Match II -
Encubus vs. Swarm
Encubus defeated Swarm with a Second Coming at 8:45
Match Notes: Encubus hit the ring with desperation, and his aggression paid off. He quickly established control over Swarm, then delivered everything in his arsenal! The dominant flurry ended with a pair of Second Comings to secure the pinfall.
- Division I, Match III -
Kill Prey vs. Bloodline
Bloodline defeated Kill Prey with a Cosmic Big Bang at 23:15
Match Notes: In the best match of the tournament, Kill Prey and Bloodline battled back and forth. Kill Prey hit the Ruptured Ear Strikes to gain control early in the match, and went to work methodically against Bloodline. He amassed all five tokens, but could not deliver the Ambush before Bloodline turned the tables.
Bloodline responded with a flurry of his own, softening up Kill Prey. But Bloodline missed the Cosmic Big Bang and looked to be in trouble again. He managed to escape the ring, where he caught the onrushing Kill Prey with a drop toe hold, sending him crashing to the steel steps. That proved to be the turning point as Bloodline was able to connect on his second attempt at the Big Bang to score the pinfall.
- Bloodline advances to the Grand Championship! -
Bloodline's victory over Tanck completed his quest to qualify for the Grand Championship! As Bloodline celebrated, Kill Prey begrudgingly offered a handshake after a hard-fought match. Exhausted, Bloodline fell to his knees in the ring as he soaked in the cheers of the crowd.
At that moment, Sly Drury struck! Drury dashed into the ring, seemingly from nowhere, and charged at Bloodline from behind. Kill Prey was the first to spot Drury, and surprisingly, moved to intercept the sneak attack. But Drury overpowered Kill Prey and tossed him out of the ring. Before Bloodline could respond, Drury clubbed him across the back of the head with a forearm, knocking him to the mat face down.
Drury reached into his trench coat and pulled out a bullwhip! He viciously lashed Bloodline across the back. Once, twice, three times the leather pierced the flesh of Bloodline and the crimson began to flow. Drury then pulled Bloodline up to his knees and wrapped the whip around his neck!
"It's hangin' time, Meat!" hissed Drury.
But as Drury dragged Bloodline to the ropes and prepared to hang him, Switchblade tore out of the locker room and sprinted into the ring! Switchblade caught Sly with hard punch to the side of the head, knocking him to the canvas. The brawl was on! Drury and Switchblade pounded at each other furiously, with neither man gaining advantage. Bloodline managed to extract himself from the bullwhip and stagger to his feet, but before he could rejoin the fracas, Drury slithered out of the ring and high-tailed it back to the dressing room.
Enraged, Switchblade took the microphone.
"Drury! You are a coward and a thug! You and your Gamemasters couldn't beat Bloodline, so you want to sneak attack? I don't think so. Bloodline, I have always had your back, and I always will. I will be at the Grand Championship to be sure you get a fair shot at the title- AFTER I destroy Sly Drury in a Titan Death Match! Drury, be there- IF YOU DARE!"
- Division II, Match III -
Valour vs. Swarm
Valour defeated Swarm with a Violent Outburst at 5:15
Match Notes: With his spot in the Grand Championship within reach, Valour came out at full force! A daring falling leg drop from the turnbuckle paid off for Valour, putting Swarm on the defensive. With his adrenaline pumping, Valour immediately launched into a Violent Outburst and Swarm was finished!
- Victory for Valour! -
As Valour celebrated his victory over Swarm, his berth in the Championship became official. Commissioner Massif returned to the ring, accompanied by Bloodline. Bloodline was weakened from his earlier beating, and his torso was heavily bandaged, but he beamed with pride as he stood alongside Valour.
"Fans of the GWF! I give you the top contenders for the Galaxian Heavyweight Championship!", bellowed Massif. The Commissioner stood between the two contenders and raised each of their arms overhead as the crowd cheered and the show drew to a close.
