POW MMA
POW Mars Massacre The Soul of Sol Tour: Stop Ten -- Mars Dome
-- President Prodigy was approached by Dynamo backstage and asked about the whole T.K.-Euritar flak. Prodigy replied, "I've been giving that a lot of thought the past couple days, and I think there is some merit to the claim. I've been trying to come up with a good compromise, a reasonable resol...." -- Commissioner Hood stepped into the scene abruptly and hissed, "Methinks you're oversteppin' yer bounds, Prez. Me Commissioner's Pick is not yers. If ye feel such pity for T.K., maybe he should be takin' on yer pick, Cypher." -- Prodigy laughed. " Please. The Cypher choice is beyond question. He is the winningest wrestling AND mixed martial artist. MY pick was unbiased and fair. T.K. should face Euritar tonight to settle this." -- Hood stared at him, then said, "Yer right. T.K. will face Euritar then....BUT....he will also take on yer boy Cypher. He must beat both of them to get the last spot at Undisputed. Otherwise, we'll be goin' with the winner of Gunnar-Mike Fortune. Which is what it should be anyway!"
T.K. -vs- Euritar -- Talisman was positively beaming as he came down with T.K. He give him last minute instructions, then this started. T.K. went right at Euritar with vicious strikes from the onset. -- Euritar showed why the commissioner picked him though, as he weathered the attacks, then got T.K. down to the mat with some strong kicks. Once he had him down, Euritar began administering sickeningly-effective knees to the head....as soon as the blood started flowing, the referee stepped in. Winner: Euritar TKOs T.K. via knees to head (T.K. is hurt 6 fight cards)
-- Talisman was beside himself, his fighter not only defeated but badly injured. To say he came up short in his bid for POW Undisputed is an understatement.
Pendekar -vs- Crucible -- This one started off completely unexpectedly....Crucible peppered Pendekar with strikes, then got him down to the mat....and whenever Pendekar tried to turn the tide, Crucible had an answer and stayed on the attack! -- However, out of nowhere, Pendekar heaved Crucible down with an uchi mata awkwardly and this one was over! Winner: Pendekar KOs Crucible via uchi mata
Scion Nexus -vs- Dante -- This was a gem. Dante kept going for leg locks on Nexus, and it seemed more and more like Nexus would tap out, but the seasoned vet kept powering out and living to fight on. As the match wore on, Dante began losing his resolve, and Nexus started taking over! -- He wrenched in an arm bar that Dante could not escape, and a shocking tap out ensued. Winner: Nexus SUBMITs Dante by arm bar
MAIN EVENT for the #6 spot in POW Undisputed Gunnar -vs- Mike Fortune -- Gunnar may not be a "good guy", but this feud with Fortune and Saboteur has gotten fans behind him. It was his first action since the terrible injury in the Circinus Cell match again Fortune. -- Using his slight weight advantage, Gunnar powered over Fortune. The wily hitman managed to counter some moves here and there, but Gunnar would not be deterred. -- The intense one crumpled the Canadian to the mat with a powerful roundhouse to the knee. Winner: Gunnar KOs Fortune by roundhouse to knee
-- Gunnar raised his fists in the air triumphantly, at last getting a measure of revenge! And more than that, he's going to POW Undisputed for a shot at unprecedented glory!

See, told you so. Indeed you did.....and poor T.K., gets an admittedly daunting challenge to get in, but not only loses right away, but gets injured. Talisman is going to write an 800-page essay about this!

Winner: Pendekar KOs Crucible via uchi mata you do not know how much seeing that made me smile. ;D Yeah, I had a chuckle when the match ended on that. One of the few 'foreign' mma moves that I no longer have to go look up before I do my write-up!

you know, being a leg technique, I am surprised you do not learn that in TKD.

you know, being a leg technique, I am surprised you do not learn that in TKD. I'm only recently back into it after a 4 year layoff. We may well have done a variation in the past, but the term "uchi mata" probably never came up

POW Undisputed Analysis w/ Qualitar, Janus the Overman and Dynamo
Excerpts from the official POW staff's thoughts on the upcoming super-event, POW Undisputed, with its six entrants: Euritar, Cypher, Mensar, Ahnu, Hanuman, and Gunnar.
Qualitar (Qu): Welcome back, folks. I'm here with wrestling legends Janus and Dynamo, assessing who to watch in POW Undisputed. Janus, to the point, who do you think is the favorite to win this event?
Janus (Ja): It's difficult to pinpoint for a key reason -- we have no idea right now what the percentage will be between MMA and wrestling. Each match in the first round will have its format determined by a coin toss. Each match in the second round will be selected by the loser of the first. So this one could be wrestling-heavy, MMA-heavy, or somewhere in between.
Dynamo (Dy): So we need to look at who is the favorite if it's wrestling-heavy, who for MMA, and who is best equipped to roll with either....
Ja: And that third list is short. But I know who I'd put my money on. Cypher. He's the best MMA guy in this band of six, and one could argue he's up there in wrestling too. No one has been more successful since CPC went to POW.
Dy: I tend to agree, although I could see Mensar making a case too. Put it this way -- I think he's the best wrestler out of the six, and he's got a weight advantage over most of them, for MMA purposes, where he isn't too shabby either.
Ja: Mensar is solid, but I'd rate Euritar higher. Euritar is MY pick for the best wrestler of the bunch, and he's been better than Mensar in MMA. Neither can touch Cypher there, but I definitely favor Euritar. If not for Brainstorm and Idol, Euritar would have a perfect record against Mensar.
Qu: If wrestling matches dominate this, are those your favorites then?
Dy: I go Mensar, absolutely.
Ja: And I pick Euritar. He reminds me of myself, which is about the highest praise any wrestler could receive.
Dy: ...
Qu: Strictly MMA?
Dy and Ja (simulataneously): Cypher.
Qu (chuckling): Who could be the sleeper?
Ja: Hanuman seems to be out to prove something, but I think he's not up to snuff just yet. I'd have to say Gunnar. That guy has impressed the heck out of me since his new attitude. And I'm not alone -- look how the fans are migrating towards him....
Dy: That may have something to do with his enemies, Saboteur and Mike Fortune. Nobody likes them, maybe not even their mothers.
Ja: Saboteur probably sold out his years ago. But I agree.
Dy: I like Gunnar too.
Qu: Nothing about Ahnu yet....
Ja: I like Ahnu. He almost got the cruiserweight title recently....but he's not in the same league with these other guys. Thayne was the better man -- I'm somewhat disappointed it's not him in here.
Dy: Ahnu's tough, but he'll finish last. Ahnu and Hanuman will probably split against each other.
Qu: Any last thoughts?
Ja: This is an innovative event. I participated in a few Future Shocks for GWF, winning one. But it's one thing to wrestle guys. It's another to have no idea until the bell whether you are fighting someone as a wrestler or mixed martial artist. That adds a real facet to this that's unprecedented.
Dy: Plus, we'll potentially be seeing our first real mismatches with weight classes in MMA. Euritar and Mensar match up well wrestling, but that weight advantage of Mensar's ought to be huge should they fight MMA. Huge implications there.
Qu: Think you'll ever try out MMA, Janus? It's obvious you can still wrestle?
Ja: I rule out nothing. Maybe they should open this up to a seventh spot and let me show these guys true excellence. I tried my hand at MMA when I was younger. wasn't my cup of tea, but as you probably could guess, I never lost either.
Dy: I'll stick to wrestling.
Ja: Is that what you did? I always thought they should start the Galaxian Flailing Federation for guys like you....
Dy: Ha ha
Qu: That's all the time we have. Thank you, as always, gentlemen!
