aCe through Hawk's eyes

I come and go with feds and ideas like the gentle breeze on a summer's day...

When I bought the new aCe start up set, I really didn't know what I was buying. I saw a new aCe set, in PDF form to boot, and I thought "Hey, I've always wanted to try aCe and those wacky~! game mechanics. I'll buy that!"...It was only after I got it, and looked through the set that I realized that the game mechanics I had heard about and looked forward to were gone. Then I realized some of the characters I wanted to use the most such as Murdok were gone. Rankor was gone. Gheist was gone. There were characters I had never even heard about...and there didn't seem to be any trace of the "war" anymore. I had bought a wrestling fed.

Really, when it hit me, it kind of dawned on me that everything I had wanted from aCe was gone...and it had become GWF-like. No knock on the GWF, god knows I played that for years (Initial set to 2102. I earned credentials) but I had quit the GWF because I just had gotten tired of it. It all felt the same to me. I got so burnt out on COTG in general that I walked away.

I thought aCe would change everything, so I was very disappointed to see what aCe had become. Nothing I can do, and I can understand why Osk did it...but it still hurt. That all being said, I did pay for this set, and it does have some interesting cards, characters, and artwork. So I figure I'll give it a shot. What do I have to lose?

In the booklet, it says the Centra Cup is a one night tournament. The booklet also seems to suggest that aCe is like the GWF...More or less "WWEized"...So, in order to maintain any semblance of my own interest, I am rejecting this style. Nemean will not be doing his talk show in my fed. aCe, I feel, due to it's relative new status, would still be fighting for popularity. What better way to get popularity then touring? My goal, is to act like a touring promotion would, a set schedule (That I may or may not actually act as if it's happening in real life, depends on my interest), full lineups, and all wrestling with possibly some angles. I aim to use *every* wrestler in aCe on every show...more or less.

But back to the Centra Cup, the Centra Cup will crown the first champion of my aCe promotion, and will attain the essence. I consider this a big deal, as I will be using the ability boosts. I also may or may not lower pin ratings. AG/PW may or may not help a champion, but a lowered pin? That's a boost. That's something to fight for.

Again, I digress. Back to the Centra Cup. The Centra Cup will be the first "tour" of aCe. It will run eleven shows, why? Because the Centra Cup will be a round robin tournament. If you've never heard of round robin, here is what it is: You face every one else in the tournament. Points are awarded for winning and draws. At the end, the two people with the top scores face off to determine the winner. You don't see this in America much...because most promoters think wrestling fans are stupid and don't have the intelligence for them. Their also hard to book, thankfully due to aCe being dice ran, all I have to do is book the matches.

The tournament will see eleven wrestlers face off. Five heels. Five faces. One Neutral. Eventually I plan on phasing out the unaffiliated workers by getting them in groups, but for now, they serve their purpose.

From what I can tell, I pretty much have every "major" character in the set in this tournament. I also threw in someone like Aspin Northstar so the tournament could have a clear "low man" in the points. For all I know Northstar and his incredibly impossible shooting star press Dragon Rana could win it all (For those of you that follow DRAGON GATE (...Anyone?) you can attest that just doing a Dragon Rana took Dragon Kid years to perfect. There's no way in *heck* you could do a Shooting Star Press into a rana. You would kill yourself, your opponent, the referee and some fans in the ensuing fallout. If someone actually has, I will put it in my custom title the line "HAWK DOES NOT UNDERSTAND PHYSICS" as proof that I was wrong.)

If I had to make an early prediction, I'd say Pendragon shocks everyone by winning. His card is amazingly stacked considering he's not with a group. Eventually everyone in my aCe will be with a faction. That's just how it works with these types of feds.

Originally, I planned on booking everyone on these shows...but at 11 shows, this thing is waaaaay too long and too restrictive to make it work. So I'm just going to run the tournament, and then figure things out once I'm done.

Draw by time limit (100 single die rolls) or double countout: 2 points

All matches will be no disqualification, although countouts will be in effect, but all counts will be to twenty (IE two countout rolls).

The first night of the CENTRA CUP Is over with. Five matches took place and five men have emerged with points.

In the opening match, Godsend completely decimated the "Tournament Master" in short time, beating him with Hell's Threshold in the shortest match of the entire night.

However, the next match was a completely different matter as Mr. Bloat and Avarice clashed in what many called the match of the night. The first move of the match was Bloat stabbing Avarice in the face with a fork. Avarice and Bloat took the fight to each other cruelly, resulting in both bleeding heavily as the match poured on. Avarice looked to have the match wrapped up, but missed a dive to the outside. This left Bloat able to take over as he stabbed Avarice several times before using his Cruel and Unusual maneuver multiple times until Avarice stayed down for the three count.

The young Aspin Northstar was game against Shepard, however, it would be for naught. Aspin tried everything he had to get the win, however it only took one hit with Exorcism to keep Northstar down and give Shepard the five points. In what may be the biggest upset of the night, the Amazing Mann was beaten rather easily by Ventross in the second to last tournament match of the night.
Mann attempted his submission moves; however, Ventross would have none of it and tore into Mann with fury and abandon until Mann could take no more and Mercy Killing put him down.

The main event of the night saw Paganax absolutely crush Lance At-Las with little effort. Lance could never get anything going in the match, which lead to Paganax throwing him all around the ring before finishing him off with two Pagan Voids.

This tournament is going odd...I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Godsend and Paganax are winning so far...but Ventross at third? Aspin Northstar beating Lance At-Las? Totalis with two straight losses? Odd things going on. Of course, there's NINE MORE shows to go through, so who knows what'll happen.

Pendragon scored his first tournament victory over Mr. Bloat in the first match of the night. Bloat attempted to hurt Pendragon with his nefarious means, however, Pendragon's superior wrestling abilities carried him to victory with the Overthrow.

Paganax continues to run roughshod through the tournament, as he easily crushed Aspin Northstar without much effort.

Avarice continues to be an X factor in the tournament, as he and the Tournament Master fought to a draw after a long grueling contest, giving both men two points.

Godsend's hopes of winning the tournament without a loss went up in smoke as Lance At-Las handed Godsend the shocking upset victory after blasting him in the face with a karate kick.

The main event saw a back and forth contest between The Amazing Mann and Shepard, but Amazing Mann was able to comfortably take down Shepard with the Prestige to earn his second tournament victory.

Paganax is pulling ahead of everyone else, but he hasn't run into many of the other heavy hitters of the tournament. Godsend was given a crushing loss by Lance At-Las, while Amazing Mann has found success after night one's shocking upset. The most interesting character for me so far is Avarice. He's having a really tough time, but he's just strong enough that people can't finish him off. Mr. Bloat was able to, but that nearly went to a draw as well. Avarice is providing a weird dynamic to his matches.

Night four of the tournament saw several brutal beatings, but only a a few surprises. Aspin Northstar did whatever he could to hold up to Pendragon's relentless assault, but couldn't hold on to get the draw and was instead finished. Ventross was humiliated by Mr. Bloat, who bashed him with a fork and then proceeded to relentlessly hit the Cruel and Unusual until he could take no more. It looked like Avarice would have yet another draw in the tournament, but at the last moment, was able to get his first points of the tournament with the 7th Sin. Lance At-Las and Amazing Mann had a back and forth match that saw Amazing Man almost have At-Las put away with, but Lance held on and got the draw. Godsend and Paganax, two of the top score earners of the tournament clashed, but it would be Paganax who crushed Godsend to earn yet another victory in the tournament.

To say that Paganax is pulling ahead would be an understatement. He's 4-0 in the tournament with six more matches to come. The tournament is anyone's to win still, but things aren't looking good for Totalis, who has a 18 point deficit he would have to make up to win the top spot in the tournament. The tournament is thus far being dominated by the bad guys, as there is only one good guy in the top five in Pendragon. To his credit, Paganax hates everyone equally.

Amazing Mann put the first kink in the armor of Paganax, as Mann used everything he could to just get the draw. However, despite his best efforts, only getting the draw allowed Mann to fall into third, tied with Avarice. Godsend with his third victory moved up to second place, but is seven point behind the leader Paganax. With only ten points seperated second place and 11th, the finals spot is still up for grabs for anyone in the tournament.

Paganax and his 5-0-1 record continues to streamroll the competition. His two match lead gives him a huge boost heading into the final few shows of the tournament. Godsend is behind him at 20 point, while Amazing Mann trails behind by just one point. Ventross remains in the running at 17 points, followed by Mr. Bloat and Avarice. At this point, with a 15 point trail to make up, it looks like Aspin Northstar and Shepard are eliminated from the final two, while Totalis and Lance At-Las hang on by a thread.

I like your concept and the direction you plan on taking the aCe. I feel you on the fed dropping thing, I've done it quite often myself but the new aCe has held my interest and sparked my imagination.

Totalis failed for me at first as well but turned into a pure wrestling machine, even capturing the Essence title for a short time.

Good luck on continuing this. I look forward to the rest of the tournament.

Pendragon kept his tournament hopes alive while crushing Totalis's. The "Tournament Master" has hardly looked as such in this tournament, and was easily dispatched by Pendragon's Overthrow for the five point victory.

In a match that could determine who makes the finals, The Amazing Mann schooled Godsend before choking him unconscious with a guillotine choke. Godsend could never really get going against Amazing Mann, who used his elusiveness and ability to wear Godsend down in route to finishing him.

The tournament has been a complete wash for Shepard, who hasn't won a tournament match since night one, meaning he has dropped six straight falls. Shepard looked like he might be changing the tide, however Ventross had other ideas as he brutally beat Shepard in route to finishing him with the Ventross Vivisection for the three count.

Aspin Northstar was brutally beaten in the semi final of the night. Avarice, looking desperately to get five points was enraged when Aspin Northstar would not stay down. As a result, Aspin Northstar was brutally beaten including three 7th Sins and was stabbed multiple times with the Crown of Thorns until Northstar stayed down...As a result there is questions about if Northstar can continue in the tournament, but luckily for him, he has the next event off...(OOC - Northstar amassed a 14 pin rating. I'm debating what his status will be. By all accounts he was brutally beaten)

Mr. Bloat's sickening style of wrestling continues to be put to good use in the tournament. Despite the technical proficientcy of his opponent, Lance At-Las, Mr. Bloat was never in any danger and after stabbing Lance multiple times with what appeared to be a fork, Bloat applied his Cruel and Unusual finisher until Lance stayed down for the count.

Paganax still leads, but his daunting lead has been shortened considerably by The Amazing Mann, who continues to be on a hot streak. Ventross lags behind Paganax by five points, about one victory total, while Godsend and Mr. Bloat sit pretty at twenty points. Avarice is right behind them with nineteen points, and lurking at the edge of the running is Pendragon who could still make a play at fifteen points. Totalis, Lance At-Las, Shepard, and Aspin Northstar are for better or for worse eliminated from the tournament.
