Speaking of a certain card and artwork ... the first Indigo is one of my favorite drawings of all time but the stats suck. The second Indigo stats are good but the drawing sucks so I am thinking about pasting the original artwork onto the new card ... am I allowed to do that? Well, it's not like he radically changed his appearance or anything. He might be due for another update in the next set or two.

Stats first and artwork a close second second. Backstory can be changed, moves can be altered, but as Isk said, art is a point of reference. If a Character has good stats nad crummy art, I may use him, If the art is cool and stats not so good I will use him. Bad stats and okay art, however, I will never use them.

Since this is posted on this board's COTG Polls forum, I think this question is for COTG cards. But from an LOW player perspective, I think the answer HAS to be the stats.
For instance, when Cory Olson posts bootleg cards in his LOW Bootlegs group without the art (even though I know some of the great artists in our online community do/can provide that for us), nobody complains and everyone is underdstandably glad to see them because you already know what the wrestler looks like or (if necesssary) you can look up their image on the Internet.
But if Tom was to just give us cards for guys like Endgame, Iron Hand, etc without artwork then IMO it would be harder to visualize the in ring action taking place while rolling the dice.
So while I think artwork is still important for LOW, I think it's even more important for COTG and that for LOW the "most important part of a character card" is definitely the stats.

This was very well put and really shows the difference between COTG vs. LOW

True Mr. Lawless, but that first drawing to me was just amazing, one of my all time favorite artworks for some reason ... just always stuck with me.

It came down to two choices for me, the back story and the stats of the wrestler. I went with the stats. I am so far behind in the game that I get to see the outcomes of the storylines that have been done that I can and have changed the storylines to fit my fed. The back of the card is the make or break for me. If a wrestler has no flow to the card or is just a boring card (Fury) then they are written out of the fed for me. As for the art, doesn't matter the card is face down when I play.

Artwork I can't get into the guy unless it has good artwork.

For me artwork and stats run very close, but I have to say that artwork wins out because I rarely follow whats in the booklets and while I may draw on the backstory of the character, I ultimately create my own history with the character. Stats, as has been said before, can be tweaked to your liking while the artwork helps me define who the character is.
I've had a couple of good runs with characters that normally wouldn't stack up just by pushing them the right way, while others like the original artwork for Chaos kept me from getting into the character until the Special Edition artwork.
My vote goes to artwork.

Artwork. Stats are important, but they can be altered if absolutely necessary. Artwork is what makes the difference in whether or not I really care about or can relate to the character.
