The show really reminds me of LOST. Maybe that's the problem. No one character stands out to me. Instead the "setting" is the main character and the actual characters are back drops to it. I usually prefer strong character depth, and I've picked up on that heavily in other shows only watching one episode. I haven't gotten that from WD. Even the characters that appear to supposed to be most important don't seem to stand out from the rest. I understand this is probably all by design, it's just not what draws me in. I couldn't get into Lost for all the same reasons.

I am admittedly a big zombie fan but I know so many people who are into Walking Dead that are not at all zombie fanatics. I don't think that Walking Dead could pull the ratings that it does if it was just zombie fans watching. This... I know people who are in their 60's and a few older that enjoy this show because it's not just about Zombies, but universal human situations when it comes to drama. I've always been a Zombie fan and this show delivers the Zombies and so much more that entertains me. Like TM and most of us have said TWD is a series you need to watch from the start to really enjoy it, but then it's not for everyone... @tm - Michonne is the Hooded lady and she is a badass from what the comicbook fans say and has been the most requested character in when she'll appear in the series. I like how she has Two armless Walkers with her and it looked like their mouths were either sewn shut or covered up to me... In the comics she ripped off their lower jaws so they couldn't bite.

I never watched Lost, but I gotta say about Walking Dead - the characters (and their development) are 100% the driving force of the show. Surely the post-apocolyptic setting is the catalyst for most events, but surprisingly it's not always the zombies that play the antagonist. I think it would definitely be tough to spot any real characterization and/or development having just seen the pilot episode and the second season finale. Generally pilots set up premise and introduce characters while finales are mostly overblown climaxes and conclusions to story-arcs. It's the mid-season stuff where the characters really shine. Just like a movie script, Act II is where the heart is.

Again, not having read the comics and just going by what I've seen, those armless and jawless zombies seemed submissive imo. Instinctually, a zombie is going to come after you, regardless of jaw or arms being missing. Those things were almost obediant. I could see a scenario in which this Michonne(sp?) can walk freely amongst the dead due to the walkers she uses and perhaps that robe being made from the dead. Just kind of speculation.

I could see a scenario in which this Michonne(sp?) can walk freely amongst the dead due to the walkers she uses and perhaps that robe being made from the dead. Just kind of speculation. She was introduced in issue #19 of the comic (and the comic is in issue #94, and it's a monthly...so it's been a while). The walkers she has with her are he boyfriend and his best friend. She apparently spent so much time with them (if this was post- or pre-mutilation is not known) that they no longer try to attack her, and yes their scent is what helps keep so many walkers from converging on her (like when Rick and the small group in the department store in the first season hacked that one up and covered themselves in the gore to escape). Now the show has gone and probably will go in directions the comic doesn't (going to the CDC in season one comes to mind) and noted that I haven't seen a single episode of season two (AMC isn't on my channel list) so I don't know what will go down, but this is what I know from the comics.

I agree with Osk that the Characters that have been built up since the pilot have grown into the driving force and Michonne will be a interesting character to see revealed further in Season 3. Also we get the Governor who runs the prison, so it'll be fun to see a new group of characters added to the mix...

The Governor actaully runs a town not far from the prison...and if he is ANYTHING like he was in the comic, he is going to be a sick SOB. And on the subject, he is the subject of a prequel novel written by the writer of the comics. I find the undead both terrifying and severely interesting.

9 million viewers for the season finale! Solid. It'll be a long wait for the third season this fall, but it'll be worth it once that time hits...

Had to quench my Dead fix, so I went to the comic store and bought a compendium that had the first 48 issues of the comic. Pretty interesting how the comic and tv show differ. I won't read the whole thing thogh because I still don't want any potential season three spoilers!! lol
