I participated this weekend in the Game Table test; played a lot of matches by myself & several with other people. I was in the tag team match that Mark T spoke about where the Gladiators took on the Road Warriors in a tag team match...and lost via DQ during a huge melee outside the ring...
I would like to say that this game table is lightning fast; I put it through its paces on my own & it worked as fast as I could click the buttons. It actually let me play the game faster than if I were playing with cards & dice.
I've never been one that has played online because of the previous Game Table interface, but if this new version is the status quo going forward (and Osk tells me it is) then I'll be investing in digital sets.
It was great to chat with other people in the Lobby & actually get to play against another person - that was always a terrible struggle in the past. The Table performed better than expected & lightning fast.
All in all, as said before, if you are on the fence about online this Game Table will sway you in favor of playing online. Great product.
Thanks to everyone on the CotGOnline Team that worked on this project! You guys did a great job with it!
Thanks too for letting us participate in the Test over the weekend. I had a great time!

For Steef (and anyone else concerned):
There will be a way to call up two guys in a single window in the final version... BDS is apparently working on that. You can also have two guys in two separate windows in tabs are not your thing. (I personally think it's kinda clunky with tabs) I think they were trying to get the multi-player up and running first, since that's never really worked well.
I really enjoyed playing with other people, I think that's a great addition. I'm withholding judging on the flow for single player until it's finished... I expect it'll be just as good once the two wrestlers per window function is running.

So do I have to keep switching back and forth on the tabs while trying to follow who's doing what in the little move tracker? Nope! Tabs bad, windows good! One of the nice things about doing the system in straight HTML is that you've got a ton of flexibility in how you want to present things. You're not forced into doing anything one particular way - you can move around windows, use tabs, put a bunch of wrestlers around the main Game Table chat - whatever works best for you. The way I do it, personally, is when I fetch the wrestlers I want to use, one guy (or team) I fetch with with the chat log, the others without. Lets say I've got a tag match going, so now I have five tabs open in my browser; one of the Game Table, two of the first tag team (with chat box), and two of the second tag team (wrestler only). Now, I could just flip through the tabs, but like 'Fire said, that's clunky, and not at all what we had in mind. Instead, what I do is grab the tabs and drag them out of my Firefox window so they become new windows. What I end up with is three windows: one of the Game Table (that I minimize to get out of the way), one of the first team, and one of the second team. The wrestlers on the team are tabs stacked on their respective windows, which is exactly how I'd do it with paper and dice - I just stack the non-active wrestlers under the active ones. I attached a picture so you could visualize without relying on my ability to paint a picture with words. Attachments:

And like was mentioned, I'm going to be doing a 2-wrestler, 1-screen version in the very near future. Beyond the obvious uses (making a single player singles match in one tab a reality), it will also be handy for you being both parts of a multiplayer tag team and will make me playing singles matches on my iPhone much, much easier.

And now I'll shamelessly bump this back to the top of the forum, because it's way more important than today's Change Log was.

I have to agree that the chat adds a lot to it. Going back and forth, and having others who might just be watching but enjoying the matches going on adds a lot to the game.

I like Avarice was on most of the weekend play testing the new table! I have to say how impressed I was with the flow of the game playing against others! I just can't put into words how much I enjoyed playing against fellow promoters, which I've been wanting to do since Online was introduced a few years ago. this is by far way better than the old style of online and I'm so excited for this to be fully functional!
If you didn't get a chance to do any play testing, I encourage you to try it the next time it presents itself!!! There's nothing more fun than playing others from the comfort of your own home. I told Osk on night in the chat forum, "it's like having G-Con everyday of week!!!"
So I just wanted to say thanks to BDS and everyone else involved who worked so hard at getting this up and going! Just an outstanding job all the way around! Good times and the thing I really enjoyed is having that chat forum to just shoot the breeze with your friends and even the people you don't know very well. Getting to know them and making a new friend, that's half the fun!
Thanks for the great weekend, can't wait to see what's next!!!

I had an awesome weekend playing with the new GT, and playing with other promoters. Saturday night, I got on and played a few matches with Justin Case and Avarice. Avarice was Swarm and I was a couple different guys, let me tell you, those dice were rigged! Swarm kicked my butt everytime. I loved chatting with the guys too, and cant wait for the Game Table to be fully functional.

I was only able to pop on for about 5 minutes on I think it was Saturday night. It's going to take some getting used to but definately a better use of the real estate. I look forward to the official release.
The only criticism I have is that it appears to have been designed with mobile devices in mind first, and web second. I think there is a synergy that can be achieved between the two, and I imagine we will see that as the way people use the new game table becomes more known.
Nice work BDS.

The only criticism I have is that it appears to have been designed with mobile devices in mind first, and web second. Quite the opposite - all the development has been done specifically with Firefox in mind. The sizing on the cards has less to do with making them fit mobile platforms than it did with letting a user put a card in its own window and then drag that around the desktop, essentially replicating the way the old Game Table functioned. The fact that it all works on most smartphones and tablets has much less to do with my code than it has to do with the standards compliance of modern, mobile browsers.
