If Dipietro, Streit and Okposo can stay healthy, the Isles could make a run for a playoff spot.

It was a good Two game European Tour to kickoff the 2011-12 NHL season for the Sabres. Buffalo scored 4 goals in both games and Miller only allowed 1 goal against the Ducks & 2 goals against the Kings...

The hockey season is way too long. I barely begin paying attention until after the Super Bowl. I am however playing the shit out of NHL 12 on Xbox. Totally awesome. The 6 on 6 user drop-in option is incredibly fun. It's not long enough, especially considering it's the only sport I can watch and not fall asleep. I'm also happy to see Versus showing several games for my Flyers.

Flyers starting off 3-0 and the defending Champs are 1-3, I watched most of the Bruins Canes game and the Bruins Power Play is horrid. Canes play here Friday in the Sabres home opener, that should be fun. Terry Pegula paid for a whole new state of the art locker room that looks awesome with a wall of Sabres history leading out to the rink, things are really buzzing in Buffalo...

I caught a few minutes of the game. Defending champs not looking good but its way early yet.

Very True on it's early in the season, but being a Sabres fan and the Bruins a rival it's good to see them having a rough start. I haven't looked at any schedule on Versus, but I'm hoping they'll have some Winnipeg Jets games to watch...

I have been impressed by the Jets so far this season, even though they are 0-2 to start. I think the Jets should end somewhere around 10th-13th in the Eastern conference before next season's realignment that could have the Eastern Conference expand to 16 teams while the western conference will probably drop to 14 teams.
If Detroit moves to the eastern conference I think that the Columbus Blue Jackets HAS to move with them.
As for the length of the regular season in the NHL I think the NHL's 82 game schedule is a nice balance. Mind you I believe the same thing could be accomplished in an 80 game season. What kills hockey for me is the 7-10 preseason games they play.
Another thing that would help the NHL shorten it's playoff length is to have games go every other day. That way a series last no more then 14 days. But because Bettman wants games on NBC every single Sunday during the playoffs, some series get 3 or 4 days off between games.
As for teams I am following this year:
Winnipeg Jets Edmonton Oilers (best young core in the league) Vancouver Canucks Pittsburgh Penguins Tampa Bay Lightning Los Angeles Kings
All those teams have players that I absolutely love, except for the Jets (they were my fave team when I was younger).

I want to see a complete overhaul to alignment. Detroit HAS to go east, but Columbus and Nashville should be possibilities as well. I do like the 4-division alignment idea that's been thrown around as well. As for the Jets, if they finish higher than 10th then 5 teams must've really tanked the season.

I miss the Campbell & Wales Conference names with the Norris, Smythe, Adams & Patrick Divison names and I doubt the NHL would go back to those names, but I agree a full alignment of teams is needed...
