With the new PBP Sim set to be rolled out sometime this month, I wanted to take the opportunity to answer a few questions about the whys and hows of what was going on.
Why are you rewriting the PBP Sim? Because it's broken. A lot of the wrestlers don't work the way they should, and there are stability issues that need to be tended to.
When does the new PBP Sim release? I can't give you an actual date, because that would involve outing the release date of Black Death and Legends, which would, in turn, involve a visit from Osk's Law and Propaganda ninjas. I can tell you that the PBP Sim should launch pretty close to the same time that the new sets drop. As always, though, stuff comes out when it's ready.
What will work when the new PBP Sim launches? As much as possible, although I don't have a specific answer at this point. At the very least, you'll have full one-on-one PBP capabilities when we launch. Whatever else I can add before launch, I will, but I want to do this right, not quickly.
Will you add stuff on that isn't there at launch? Absolutely. We will continue to support it after launch, getting more characters working with the system as well as adding in new features and matches.
So is this just a "bug fix" for the old PBP Sim, or will this make it better? In the long term, this will definitely make it better. First off, the bug fixes and being able to use everyone will make a huge difference. Plus, it's my intent to add in as many special matches as possible over time. I also intend to add in selectable intelligences for each wrestler, so you can select Wolf and have him wrestle in a more unpredictable manner than you have Thantos wrestle in, for example.
Will this affect anything else? This will also improve the Create-A-Character function, as you'll be able to start creating characters with a wider variety of special rules that will work in the PBP Sim. So if you want to create a wrestler that has a +4 finisher that misses on a roll of 1-3, you'll be able to do that.
If anyone has any other questions, please ask them here and I'll answer them as fully as I possibly can. Thanks, everyone!
